Chapter 350 Are You Hiding Something from Me Again?

The person running after the car got left behind.

Haley saw Oscar in the back seat through the rearview mirror, worried about his condition. His tremors were getting weaker, making her even more anxious.

She feared his time was running out.

"Come on, Oscar. Hang in there! We're almost there. I will save you, just hold on!" Haley shouted, hoping he could hear her.

She wouldn't let him die!

As long as he made it through this, she would find the antidote for him.

Haley drove from the forest to the bustling city, then to a remote area, finally screeching to a halt at an abandoned factory.

The unknown car on the surveillance immediately alerted Kevin.

Haley got out and shouted, "Kevin, it's me. I need your help!"

She quickly went to the back seat to carry Oscar out.

People were already coming out of the factory, who were all Kevin's trusted men.

Kevin, watching the surveillance, didn't panic when he saw the car. He knew it was Haley and Oscar.

This operation was his way of testing Oscar.

Would Oscar help him get rid of Donald?

He narrowed his eyes, still unsure whether to trust Oscar.

Although they hadn't communicated directly, he had heard some things from Haley. This operation also sent Kevin a message.

Oscar was leaning towards him.

And his daughter was caught in the middle.

"What are you all standing around for? Help me carry him!" Haley said, almost frantic with worry.

Kevin finally came out. Seeing Haley so emotional over Oscar, he calmly said, "Didn't I tell you not to come here unless it was necessary? And you brought him along!"

Haley said, "Kevin, please save Oscar. To save me, he was injected with poison by Donald. Everything he did was for me. Didn't you not believe me about him before? Do you believe me now? He risked his life for me. If he dies, I will never be happy in my life!"

Kevin was still skeptical, but seeing Oscar's cyanotic face, a sign of poisoning, and knowing it was a special poison from The Crimson Eclipse Society.

"Dad!" Seeing his hesitation, Haley knelt in front of him, crying. "Please save him, I can't lose him!"

Kevin helped Haley up, "Take him inside."

Haley was overjoyed. "Kevin, you're accepting him!"

But Kevin asked, "What about Donald?"

"He was captured, and his base was cleared out. It was all Oscar's doing. He listened to us and avenged you, Dad. He did it all for us," Haley said, trying to convince Kevin of Oscar's goodness, hoping Kevin would accept him and let Oscar truly join them.

Kevin only dared to take Oscar in after realizing he had been poisoned.

This was Oscar's loyalty.

No one would risk their life so easily.

So, Kevin was less guarded.

At the same time, he was clear-headed and said to her, "He's a special forces soldier, and we're enemies."

Haley said, "Who says we can't turn him?"

This made Kevin pause.

He was also suspicious of Oscar's intentions.

If Oscar and Kevin could work with each other, it would be ideal for Kevin. With Oscar's help, they could operate more effectively.

They returned to the lab. It looked like an abandoned factory, but the upper floors were all laboratories.

Chemicals and experiments were everywhere. Shelves held bottles, and tables had test tubes with colorful liquids. The sound of distillation hummed in the background.

This was just part of Kevin's work, including poisons and antidotes, all labeled with numbers, not names.

At least a dozen researchers were in the lab, fully equipped and working.

Oscar lay unconscious on a couch.

Pearl was taken to the hospital for a checkup. Apart from some scrapes, she was fine.

Thanks to Barbara's protection, she survived the ordeal.

She was also worried about Barbara, who had said she felt lonely and isolated.

Even during surgery, Barbara had no visitors.

Pearl didn't want Barbara to feel alone and wanted her to feel warmth, so she waited outside the operating room, hoping Barbara would wake up and see someone who cared.

Maybe that would give her more hope to live.

After three hours, Barbara finally came out of surgery.

Pearl immediately stood up, relieved to see Barbara alive.

"The surgery was successful, the bullet was removed, and the patient needs to rest," the doctor said.

"Thank you, doctor."

As Barbara was wheeled out, a group of police officers approached.

Seeing Elijah and his men guarding Barbara's room, Pearl asked, "What's going on? Why are so many people watching her?"

Elijah replied, "Barbara is connected to the criminals; she's a wanted person. We have to guard her to prevent her escape."

Pearl's heart tightened with worry. "She was forced into it. Will she still be the prime suspect?"

Elijah said, "That will be determined after the trial."

Pearl, worried about Barbara's fate, asked, "Will she be executed?"

Elijah replied, "It's unclear now. It depends on whether she's the main culprit or an accomplice."

"I told you, she was forced into it," Pearl said emotionally. "If Barbara wanted to survive, she had to do things against her will. She has no life of her own. What was she supposed to do? Choose death or be coerced into living?"

"If she didn't do it, she wouldn't be alive now."

Seeing Pearl getting more agitated, Elijah tried to calm her. "Ms. Harris, please calm down. The court hasn't announced her verdict yet. There's still hope."

Pearl remembered her time with Barbara.

She understood Barbara's struggles all too well, which is why she felt such deep sympathy and sadness for her.

Without that memory, she probably wouldn't have been able to empathize.

Only Pearl understood this feeling.

No one around her did.

Pearl felt tears welling up again. She composed herself, rubbed her eyes, and asked, "Where's Oscar? I haven't seen him. You and Nicholas have always been by his side. Why were you reassigned here? I haven't seen him since you came out!"

Pearl was still suspicious.

Their actions didn't include her, yet seemed to be related to her.

Oscar had hurt her, made her face reality, and kept her guessing about their unusual behavior.

Elijah's face turned serious but he said lightly, "Oscar is still handling things."

"What about Haley? I was brought to the hospital, but she didn't come?" Pearl asked again.

Elijah hesitated this time.

Pearl sensed something was off. "Are you hiding something from me again?"
