Chapter 828 I Want to Ask for Your Help
Jade thought about how she had once made things difficult for Saskia.
Now, she had to humble herself and ask Saskia for help. Even Jade felt she had gone too far.
Saskia poured her a glass of water. "Take your time, Mrs. Egan."
Jade saw the look in Saskia's eyes and hesitated for a moment before taking the glass. After a long pause, she said, "I'm really sorry for what I did back then. I shouldn't have acted that way. Now, having to come to you like this, I can't even respect myself."
"Please, Mrs. Egan, don't say that."
"Saskia, I need you to help me talk to Nathaniel."
Jade took a deep breath and slowly recounted the events of the past few days.
Since the day Nathaniel left, he hadn't spoken a word to them. All the people Robbie had placed in the Egan Group had been driven out by him.
"His father is very angry, and his health isn't good. Last night, he got so worked up that he ended up in the hospital. He's still lying in bed." Jade sighed.
Saskia was taken aback, surprised that Robbie had gotten so upset he fell ill.
"Is Mr. Robbie Egan okay now?"
"He's stable, but I want Nathaniel to go see him." Jade said, looking at her.
Saskia could understand her.
When a father and son fight, the one caught in the middle, like Jade, had the hardest time.
Helping either side wasn't easy, and she couldn't just stand by and watch.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Egan. I can help you with other things, but this is something Nathaniel has to decide for himself." Saskia said softly.
She tried to put herself in Nathaniel's shoes. If it were her, would she forgive Robbie?
Saskia couldn't find an answer, so she couldn't help Nathaniel decide either. Jade looked a bit disappointed but had prepared herself for this outcome.
"I won't take Benjamin with me. He's been with me enough these past few days. I'll leave him with you and come visit him later." Jade said as she was leaving.
Benjamin ran out from inside, his big eyes looking at Jade. "Mrs. Egan, are you leaving?"
"Yes, Benjamin. Will you miss me?"
"I will miss you, Mrs. Egan. Can you stay?"
Jade laughed and ruffled his hair.
Children's words are often taken lightly. She just comforted him a bit.
After all, she would be back. It wasn't like they wouldn't see each other again.
Once Benjamin understood this, he let go of her and said goodbye.
Saskia walked Jade to the elevator.
At the elevator, Jade stopped her. "I can tell Nathaniel likes you a lot. He did back then, and even more so now."
"I know."
"Are you still mad at me for what I did back then? That was my fault. Don't hold it against him."
Saskia looked at Jade for a moment, then said, "It's for other reasons."
Jade looked at her for a long time, sighed, and kept the rest of her prepared words to herself.
That evening, when Nathaniel came by, he brought up the topic. "Did my mom come by?"
Saskia didn't hide it. "She did."
She thought Nathaniel would ask more questions and had already prepared her answers.
But Nathaniel seemed to ask casually and then didn't say anything more.
Saskia, however, was curious.
Thinking about Jade's request earlier, she cautiously asked, "What do you think about your father?"
Nathaniel saw through her immediately. "Did someone put you up to this?"
"No," Saskia replied with an awkward smile.
Nathaniel fiddled with his watch, his expression unreadable. "Once I finish this project, I'm leaving the Egan Group. The rest isn't my concern."
It was the kind of decision Nathaniel would make.
But the important thing now wasn't the Egan Group; it was Robbie's illness.
Saskia looked at Nathaniel's expression, noticing his indifferent yet distracted demeanor. "I heard Mr. Robbie Egan is sick."
Nathaniel paused. "And what does that have to do with me?"
"I just thought you should know. After all, he is your father."
After saying this, Nathaniel fell silent.
Saskia feared he might be angry and cautiously glanced at his face, which didn't look too bad.
It seemed she had guessed right...
Saskia felt a bit relieved but also sympathetic.
Nathaniel always appeared indifferent, but he was like frozen ice—easily shattered.
Just because he didn't say anything didn't mean he wasn't hurting. He just kept all the pain inside.
"If you're worried, you should go see him. But it's okay if you don't. I'm just giving you a suggestion." Saskia said gently, her voice like a flowing stream.
Her father was gone, so she understood these feelings well.
Instead of regretting it later, it's better to cherish the time now, for everyone's sake.
Nathaniel's frown gradually eased, but he didn't agree. He just said he'd think about it.
Saskia didn't push him.
This result was already good.
...
With Nola's family as a breakthrough, the Flower Coast District project saw progress.
Nathaniel had them persuade some wavering individuals from within, which proved effective.
Half a month later, when Kirk was released, he found that those people no longer listened to him.
Not only that, but many had signed the agreement and agreed to the relocation.
These were the same people who had once been willing to die rather than sign.
"With Ms. Moss's medical records, Kirk's slander against us was proven false. This project can finally move forward, all thanks to Ms. Fuller." Marcus said, beaming.
"Yes, we really owe it to Ms. Fuller."
"Mr. Egan is lucky to have Ms. Fuller. She's a real asset."
Everyone praised Saskia.
Saskia felt uncomfortable with the constant applause and remained humble. "No, it was a team effort. I just sped up the process."
A female employee laughed. "Ms. Fuller, you're too modest."
"Exactly. We should celebrate this achievement. How about Mr. Egan treats us?" someone suggested.
After all, with so many people, it would be expensive to go out on their own.
Among them, only Nathaniel had the means to cover it.
Marcus winked at Saskia, and she thought he was going to say something. Instead, he suggested, "How about Ms. Fuller asks Mr. Egan?"
"Me?" Saskia was reluctant.
"I don't really want to go to a party. You guys go ahead."
"Ms. Fuller, don't be like that. You're the only one who can talk to Mr. Egan. Have pity on us."
Faced with their pleas, Saskia held out for a while but eventually gave in. "Alright, I'll go."
Amid their cheers, she pushed open the door to the CEO's office.
Nathaniel had heard the noise outside. "What's all the commotion?"
