Chapter 448 Oscar Poisoned
Giovanni's skills were legendary, but Oscar still managed to take him down.
"Mr. Brown, remember whose turf you're on. If I wanted to hurt Pearl, I would've done it already," Louis said, eyes cold.
Louis stood in front of Pearl, his words a clear threat to Oscar, implying he could harm her anytime.
Pearl gripped her gun tightly, ready to shoot if needed.
Louis continued, "I just want a word with Pearl. Wait by the door. Don't forget, without me, you wouldn't have found them."
Oscar didn't reply but exchanged a look with Pearl. He moved to the door, staying alert, eyes fixed on Louis.
If Louis tried anything, Oscar would kill him, even if it meant dying with Pearl.
Louis ignored Oscar. "Pearl, you must be wondering why I'm being so nice to you."
"Yes," Pearl said, staring at him, both curious and scared.
She felt a lump in her throat and looked away from Louis.
Louis stood behind her. "At first, I wasn't interested in you. I was curious why a woman like you was there. Then I saw the cross bracelet, which belonged to my sister, Carol."
It was the bracelet. No one would be kind to her for no reason.
"No, I've met Carol. I'm not your sister!" Pearl said, panicking. She couldn't be Louis's sister or RavenWing's daughter.
Her heart felt torn apart, memories flooding back.
"Some things can be faked. Jeffery gave you that bracelet, right?" Louis stepped closer.
He wasn't as tall as Oscar, but still imposing at six feet. Pearl felt like she was choking, her heart breaking.
She had never mentioned Jeffery to Louis, but he knew.
"I know it's hard to accept. I won't rely on just the bracelet. We need a DNA test," Louis said.
A sibling DNA test, not with RavenWing, because Kevin was RavenWing's loyal subordinate.
If Carol wasn't his sister...
"I won't do it. I'm not your sister. I've found who I was looking for. I have nothing to do with you..."
A loud thud interrupted her. She turned to see Oscar on the ground.
"Oscar!" Pearl screamed, eyes wide in shock.
Pearl rushed forward, trying to lift Oscar, but he pushed her away, clutching his head and roaring like a beast. His face twisted with bulging veins.
Louis squinted. "How did you get poisoned with this?"
He recognized the poison immediately—it was RavenWing's creation. Oscar and Pearl were from Willow Creek, yet Oscar was poisoned.
"What did you say?" Pearl was stunned. She never expected Oscar to be poisoned.
Her mind went blank. Everything suddenly made sense. Oscar had planned everything, not just for peacekeeping or unfinished business, but because of the poison. Both their poisons came from the Eldorians.
Tearfully, Pearl looked at Louis. "Do you have an antidote?"
Louis shook his head. "I know the poison, but I don't have the antidote. Giovanni, calm him down."
Giovanni, injured, couldn't handle Oscar alone. Even with help, it was tough. In the end, Pearl approached Oscar. She wasn't afraid, even when he pushed her away.
"Oscar, it's me, Pearl."
Her name seemed to trigger something in Oscar, bringing back memories. His eyes were bloodshot. "Get away. I might hurt you!"
"I'm not afraid!" Pearl said firmly. "Oscar, I'm here."
Giovanni seized the moment and injected a syringe into Oscar's neck. The drug worked quickly, and Oscar passed out.
Pearl held him tightly, kissing his forehead. "Oscar, you're such a fool!"
He had made all the decisions alone, afraid of implicating her.
Louis spoke softly, "The poison is tricky. Every time it acts up, he goes berserk. Pearl, we need to do a DNA test. It will give us answers."
"I don't owe you any explanations! You dragged us into this mess. We were fine in Willow Creek!" Pearl shouted, losing her composure.
'Who wants to be RavenWing's daughter? RavenWing is evil!'
"You'll be safest here with me now," Louis said softly. Giovanni and his men approached Pearl.
Despite her self-defense training, Pearl had an unconscious Oscar beside her, and Giovanni was quicker. She passed out.
Louis had Giovanni draw a vial of Pearl's blood for the test.
Giovanni waited outside, staying vigilant, unaware that Kevin was also in the lab.
Kevin asked about the test, "What's this for?"
"A DNA test," The lab guy replied.
