Chapter 73 Moving Into The Mansion
Seraphina's expression froze, her hands clenched tightly, and she dug into her own palms. Oscar saw that she couldn't speak, his brows furrowed tightly, and he asked coldly, "Is the question difficult for you to answer?"
At this moment, Pearl hurriedly rushed back from outside and happened to hear Oscar's sharp question. She was late again, and she released her hand from the door handle.
Seraphina paused for a while, and Oscar's relentless questioning increased the pressure in her heart. She looked up at the cold man in front of her, who was clearly not easy to deal with and very dangerous.
As long as she made a wrong step, she would never have another chance. She timidly said, "There are many wealthy people at that hotel. I need money. If I can meet a wealthy man, I won't have to work so hard."
Oscar's brows furrowed even deeper, and his gaze toward her changed. Her words were equivalent to saying that she was selling her body for money.
In today's society, there are indeed many people like this who exchange their bodies for materialistic lives. Pearl opened the door and entered with a blank face, holding a tray.
Oscar glanced at her, and Pearl solemnly placed the coffee in front of him. "President Oscar, your coffee." She then placed the coffee next to Seraphina.
"Thank you," Seraphina politely said.
Oscar did not want to ask any more questions, but he couldn't easily trust someone like her.
A document was placed in front of him, and he flipped it open for a glance.
There were several sets of photos, and the people in the photos were exactly the same as Seraphina. In the direction of the presidential suite, she hurriedly fled in disarray. All the photos confirmed that Seraphina was indeed that woman.
However, he also saw Seraphina's background information. There were her mother and two younger brothers in her family. Her mother was currently ill, and her younger brothers were still in school and urgently needed money. The burden of the family fell entirely on Seraphina's shoulders. She was only twenty years old, her family was poor, and she dropped out of school early to work.
In the past, she worked in the county where her family lived to take care of her mother. The burden of life at home was too heavy, so she came to the big city and found the fastest way to make money. It just so happened that she encountered him on her first time out.
Oscar placed the document on the table and looked at Seraphina. "Do you need money?"
Seraphina admitted, "Yes, I do."
"Since you're looking for someone rich, why don't you ask me for money?" Oscar asked coldly.
Seraphina’s eyes turned red, feeling ashamed and embarrassed. She awkwardly said, "Because... because you were my first man, I... I didn't know what to do, I was lost... I was scared, couldn't face reality, so I ran away."
This was indeed a response that an inexperienced young girl would have said.
Despite having all this evidence in front of him, Oscar's gaze still scrutinized Seraphina. He was unsure and unable to believe her.
Oscar's gaze turned to Pearl again, mocking coldly, "Secretary Pearl, you did well. You found her so quickly."
With his eyes fixed on her, Pearl trembled from behind. "I..."
Before she could even speak, Oscar stood up. "If you're so considerate, then it's your responsibility to settle her down, Secretary Pearl. Shouldn't be a problem for you."
Since he had said that, Pearl had no choice but to reluctantly agree, "Alright, President Oscar."
With a cold face, Oscar didn't say anything else and walked out of the lounge.
Pearl looked at Seraphina, who was still crying. Pearl said, "He's already left."
She thought Seraphina was faking her tears, but Seraphina's defenses had already collapsed. Crying, she said, "If I had known things would turn out like this, I wouldn't have come here. If I hadn't gone to the hotel that night, none of this would have happened."
She was crying uncontrollably and emotionally, as if she had truly had a one-night stand with Oscar.
Pearl became uncertain. The situation had reached a conclusion, so she had no choice, but to leave the lounge.
As she walked out, the people in the office curiously looked toward the lounge, wondering what had happened inside.
All they knew was that a strange girl had been waiting in the lounge for hours, and Oscar had only gone to see her at the end. Then he walked out with a cold expression.
Oscar didn't seem pleased.
"Pearl, what happened in there?" one of her colleagues asked curiously.
As long as one person asked her, countless others would want to hear her response.
Pearl looked at them and said, "If you really want to know, you can go and ask President Oscar."
Her words carried authority, and she mentioned President Oscar, so even though her colleagues were curious, they dared not ask and instead focused on their own work.
Pearl stayed in the break room for a while.
Everything had nothing to do with her, yet somehow connected, leaving her unable to voice anything, naturally.
She felt troubled in her heart.
She had initially dismissed the idea of letting someone else take her place, but here she was again, unable to explain it at all.
Deep down, Pearl wondered, 'Is this really okay?'
The responsibility was not on her.
It wasn't her who brought Seraphina here, so she didn't want to meddle.
She decided to find a time to explain everything to Oscar.
In this way, she comforted herself and relieved a lot of burden.
Oscar owned several mansions, and he let her settle Seraphina, in fact, he wanted to settle Seraphina here.
Pearl settled her in the villa area closer to the Brown manor.
Seraphina got in the luxurious car and immediately noticed that this car was different from a taxi.
The car provided comfort akin to lounging on a soft sofa, with fresh air that lacked the nauseating taxi smell.
The rich people were really different.
She had been looking at the scenery outside the window the whole time, with brilliant lights along the way, displaying the luxury and bustle of this place.
They arrived at a quiet area, filled with decorations she had never seen before.
Everything here was different from what she had seen, very comfortable.
When the car stopped, Pearl got out of the car first. "We're here!"
Seraphina got out of the car and saw the huge villa in front of her adorned with bright lights and a swimming pool that shimmered, which shocked her and made her eyes widen. She asked, "Is this President Oscar's house?"
Pearl answered, "Yes, Ms. Brooks. Let's go inside."
Seraphina followed Pearl inside, feeling excited. She felt like everything was unreal and asked again, "Is this the place I'm going to live?"
Pearl paused for a moment before replying, "You can temporarily stay here."
This villa had not been inhabited for a long time.
It was too close to the Brown manor, and only the relatives of the Brown family would temporarily stay here when they visited.
Magdalen would occasionally stay here when she came home.
Very few people lived here, and there were only three servants inside.
They stood in a row, bowing their heads and greeting, "Hello, Ms. Harris, Ms. Brooks."
Seraphina looked at the servants bowing to her and suddenly felt a sense of satisfaction.
The lives of rich people seemed really good, when they came home, someone would greet them.
It was truly enviable.
Pearl still had things to attend to, so she told Seraphina, "You can sit in the living room for a while."
"Okay."
After Pearl left, Seraphina finally dared to sit on the sofa.
The sofa was very soft, and when she sat down, the sofa would bounce back.
She had never sat on such a soft sofa before. She held the pillow in her arms, which smelled good, different from the nightclub's smell of perfume.
This was a refreshing fragrance.
If she could live here for the rest of her life, that would be great.
