Chapter 851 Ring
Nathaniel looked at Saskia standing in front of him. "There's something else I want to give you."
"What is it?" Saskia asked, her eyes brimming with curiosity.
Nathaniel pulled out a small box and opened it.
When Saskia saw the ring inside, she was taken aback. "Should I put it on now? I thought we were supposed to wait until tomorrow..."
"I want you to try it first," Nathaniel explained. He had prepared the ring a long time ago, back when Saskia wasn't around.
Without having her exact measurements, he had to estimate based on his judgment, so he wasn't sure if it would fit.
Hearing this, Saskia felt her heart melt.
When Nathaniel mentioned her not being around, he was referring to the time when Saskia had left him.
She thought they had said their final goodbyes back then.
She never expected Nathaniel to secretly prepare a ring.
Thinking about this, Saskia couldn't refuse Nathaniel. With tears in her eyes, she extended her hand and said, her voice slightly choked, "Can you put it on for me?"
"Of course," Nathaniel replied.
He kissed the back of her hand reverently and gently slipped the ring onto her finger.
The silver ring glimmered softly. Saskia raised her hand and saw her entire life reflected in the faint light.
She noticed some letters engraved on it.
Two capital letters: F and E.
Seeing Saskia staring at the letters, Nathaniel chuckled softly. "They're the initials of our last names. Do you like it?"
"I love it," Saskia whispered. "I really do."
They embraced under the night sky.
The next morning, Saskia woke up early.
"You're the bride today. Let me do your makeup. I promise you'll be the most beautiful one there," Pearl said, holding her shoulders with a bright smile.
Saskia smiled back. "I was hoping you'd do it."
Pearl was her best friend and the maid of honor at the wedding. Saskia had thought long and hard about it and decided no one was more suitable for the job.
Pearl got to work with great enthusiasm. Doing the bride's makeup was no easy task.
They spent over an hour in the makeup room, and the waitstaff outside were getting anxious. "Ms. Fuller, are you ready? The car is waiting."
They needed to finish the makeup and then take the car to the Century Hotel for the wedding.
There wasn't much time.
The original plan was to leave in two hours, and they were running out of time. The waitstaff were understandably nervous.
"We're almost done! We'll be out soon," Pearl called back.
She then stood up and held the hem of Saskia's dress.
"Let's go, bride. Time to get in the wedding car, or someone might get impatient."
"You're still joking at a time like this," Saskia said, blushing.
Pearl laughed at her friend's shyness.
Because Saskia's wedding dress made it difficult for her to move, they walked slowly. The people waiting in the rows of wedding cars outside were getting impatient, especially Nathaniel, who hadn't taken his eyes off the door.
Fortunately, the wait was worth it.
Soon, a bride in a white wedding dress appeared at the door. Although her face was hidden by a veil, Nathaniel's heart raced the moment he saw her, telling him that the person he had been waiting for had arrived.
"The bride is here!"
"Get ready, everyone!"
Someone shouted, startling Saskia, who paused for a moment.
Nathaniel shot a sharp look in the direction of the voice.
He got out of the car and brought the nervous Saskia over, holding her hand. He noticed her palm was sweaty and tightened his grip.
Saskia looked up at him, understanding that Nathaniel was giving her strength.
With Nathaniel's support, she shyly got into the car amidst the sound of celebratory cannons.
Pearl followed into the bridesmaid's car.
The long convoy of cars drove off in an orderly fashion, attracting a lot of attention with their high-end models.
Passersby took photos and commented.
"Whose heir is getting married? This is so extravagant. There are several cars worth millions of dollars each."
The scene quickly dominated social media.
Soon, people learned from the media that the groom wasn't just any heir but the CEO of the Egan Group, Nathaniel.
Insiders revealed that the couple had been in a long-term relationship and were finally tying the knot.
The internet was filled with praise and blessings for their marriage.
Saskia, too preoccupied to check her phone, was unaware of all this.
The drive to the hotel was short, just about ten minutes.
But to Saskia, it felt like a lifetime.
Seeing her so nervous, Nathaniel gently squeezed her hand. "Don't be nervous. I'm here."
Saskia exhaled. "I feel much better."
It wasn't a lie. Knowing Nathaniel was by her side, she felt less anxious.
When they arrived at the hotel, Nathaniel helped her out of the car.
Benjamin and Christopher, with Christopher dressed as a girl due to his feminine features, played the roles of flower children. They held a basket of flowers.
As soon as they got out of the car, they scattered the flowers from the basket over their heads.
Petals rained down, covering the ground.
Benjamin recited the words Oscar Brown had taught him the day before, "Blessings to you both, a hundred years of happiness, and may you have a precious child soon."
The two flower children, not even waist-high, were adorable.
Despite the paparazzi around, Saskia couldn't help but pat their heads. "Thank you, Benjamin and little Christopher."
Nathaniel extended his hand.
They exchanged a smile, and she took his arm.
As they walked inside, it felt like entering another world.
The room was filled with guests, friends, and family, all smiling at them. Pearl clasped her hands together, giving Saskia an encouraging gesture. Jeffery took off his glasses, his eyes crinkling with a smile.
Oscar Brown raised his glass in a toast.
Nathaniel's voice brought her back to the moment. "Let's go."
Saskia nodded.
Just as she was about to step forward, she felt a subtle gaze on her.
Instinctively, she wanted to turn around.
It wasn't that she sensed anything specific, just a subconscious feeling urging her to look back.
But Nathaniel gently stopped her, his tone firm yet gentle. "Don't move. Everyone's watching."
Saskia had to let go of the thought, though she remained curious.
She decided to look for the source later.
Soon, Nathaniel took out the ring he had given her the day before, this time with even more solemnity.
Holding the box, he knelt on one knee. "Despite all the twists and turns, we made it here together. Will you marry me?"
Nathaniel's eyes were filled with deep affection, and he bowed low.
It was a gesture of humility.
His words, too, were those of someone seeking approval from a higher authority.
In Nathaniel's mind, he had always seen himself as the one beneath, while Saskia was the sun he held high.
