Chapter 606 Wanting to Leave Here

"Mom, Dad said I'm gonna have a little sister!" Christopher exclaimed.

Pearl walked out of the prenatal check-up room and was immediately hugged by Christopher. Hearing his words, she lit up with joy.

"Mom, are you happy?" Christopher looked up at Pearl, eyes full of hope.

Pearl nodded. "Of course I'm happy."

"Awesome," Christopher cheered, then paused. "I wanna get a gift for my sister. Mom, can we go shopping later?"

That was a great idea. Pearl had been meaning to get the maternity bag and baby clothes ready anyway.

She took Christopher's hand and nodded, making him even happier.

To make things easier, Oscar had Quincy bring a wheelchair, and off they went shopping.

First stop was the baby store, where they were greeted by a ton of cute stuff, making it hard to choose.

Pearl thought everything was adorable and wanted it all. She was really struggling to decide.

"You don't need too many clothes for the baby. They grow fast, just get a few sets for now," Oscar, with his experience, quietly suggested.

Pearl picked up a tiny hat and smiled as she handed it to Oscar. "It's so small and cute."

"Yeah, if you like it, let's get a few." With that, Oscar grabbed three hats and pointed to the clothing section. "Let's check over there."

Pearl, still unsure, followed his lead.

Christopher was on the hunt for a gift, picking up one thing after another, but nothing felt quite right.

Then he spotted a small, delicate, and very realistic doll.

Christopher ran over and picked it up. "This one."

RavenWing smiled. "This one's good."

When it came to gifts, it was the thought that counted. Whether the recipient actually liked it was not as important; what really mattered was the intention behind the gift-giving.Babies weren't really into dolls when they're born, but RavenWing didn't plan to tell Christopher that. He figured Christopher should give whatever he wanted.

They picked out the gift and went to find Pearl and the others, spotting them in the shoes and socks section. They quickly walked over. "Wow, Mom, are you buying the whole store?"

Both shopping carts were full, and Oscar was holding a bunch of stuff in his hands.

Pearl smiled wryly, looked at Oscar, and said to Christopher, "It's your dad."

He had said just a few sets would be enough, but he ended up buying a lot.

Oscar grinned, asked the store clerk to bring another cart, and seriously explained, "It's our first time buying things for our daughter. It's tough to decide, but it's no big deal. We got this."RavenWing shook his head and thought, 'Babies grow fast, and these clothes might not even get worn before they need a bigger size.'

Christopher even joined in, picking out a few pairs of cute, soft-soled shoes.

Seeing Oscar picking out socks, Christopher also ran over and picked out four pairs. "Little sister deserves the best, right, Dad?"

"Of course, we should love her just like we love Mom, and give them the best." Oscar ruffled Christopher's hair, feeling very proud.

Leaving the mall, they spotted two girls at the shop entrance friendly arguing over a cup of bubble tea. Unable to decide who should drink the last sips from the shared cup, they opted to buy two new ones to ensure fairness.

This scene reminded Pearl of her past with Janetta, where they constantly worried about giving and losing out on each other's behalf.

"What's wrong? Craving some bubble tea?" Oscar noticed her low spirits and bent down to ask.

Pearl shook her head and forced a smile. "I want to go to the hospital to see Janetta."

Oscar immediately asked RavenWing to take Christopher home first, and he accompanied Pearl to see Janetta.

Just as they were about to push the door open, Damian came out from inside, and the three of them were momentarily stunned.

"What are you doing here? Haven't you caused Janetta enough pain?" Pearl said fiercely.

Damian glanced at Oscar, didn't make things difficult for them, and stepped aside to let them in.

Janetta on the bed seemed to have lost more weight, her pale face even paler than the last time.

Pearl's tears welled up instantly as she choked out Janetta's name.

She had so much to say, but it was all stuck in her throat, not a word could come out.

"I'll go talk to the doctor to get more information. You stay here and talk to her. I'll be back, okay?" Oscar said.

He understood that this was a time for her and Janetta, even if Janetta was still in a coma, Pearl surely had a lot to say.

He closed the door but didn't go to find the doctor. With Pearl pregnant, he was worried.

Inside, Pearl lowered her head, her tears falling on Janetta's hand.

Janetta's fingers moved slightly, catching Pearl's attention. "Janetta. You're awake. Aren't you? Look at me, Janetta," Pearl exclaimed.

Pearl held her hand and touched her own face. "It's me, Pearl."

"Pearl," Janetta weakly spoke.

Janetta was awake, but her eyes had lost their former light, filled with despair.

Pearl's heart ached, and she leaned in close to her ear. "I'm here, Janetta."

Tears slid from her eyes onto the pillow. Pearl quickly wiped away her tears and encouraged, "It's okay, I'm here. I won't let anyone bully you again."

"Thank you, Pearl, I want to leave here." After saying this, Janetta didn't continue, her eyes fixed on Pearl, waiting for her reply.

Pearl nodded. "Okay, where do you want to go?"

With Pearl's promise, a smile flashed in Janetta's eyes, and she said thank you again.

Pearl shook her head repeatedly, carefully standing up to let Janetta see her belly. "Look, it's a girl. You'll be her Godmother, and she'll take care of you in the future."

"Okay, I'll be her Godmother. But I don't have a gift ready now, I'll pick a gift for her later." Janetta reached out to touch Pearl's belly, feeling the baby move, and was pleasantly surprised.

With a smile, Pearl remarked, "See, she likes you a lot. Oscar wants to interact with her, but she remains unresponsive."

"Really? She likes me so much, I'm so happy." Janetta's eyes were full of tears, but her heart was bitter.

She also longed to settle down, get married, and have children like Pearl, to lead a conventional life.
