Chapter 187 Going Home for Dinner

Oscar replied to her, "Alright, since the car is broken, just get a new one."

"Okay."

There were quite a few cars at home.

It would be more convenient for Pearl to drive a regular car, and the car the servants used for grocery shopping would be perfect.

After cleaning her wound, Pearl walked out of Oscar's office.

Sophia was waiting outside, and as soon as she saw Pearl, she immediately shouted, "Pearl !"

This voice instantly attracted everyone's attention.

The people in the office were still there, and when they heard Sophia's voice, they all looked at Pearl in confusion.

With they all staring at Pearl, as if trying to see through her, Pearl instinctively stiffened.

Before Sophia could shout again, Pearl covered her mouth.

Sophia didn't understand why Pearl wouldn't let her speak.

"Stop shouting," Pearl whispered. "We're in the company."

Sophia didn't understand. "Why? Is it strange?"

Pearl said, "Let's talk outside."

Pearl pulled Sophia outside.

Pearl's situation was a bit awkward now.

Some people knew Pearl was Oscar's wife, but the people at the company didn't know.

Sophia calling her sister-in-law so openly was very suspicious.

"Pearl," Sophia called again outside.

Pearl looked at her. "Aren't you going home?"

Sophia said, "Someone will come to pick me up. Before that, I want to spend more time with you."

"Why do you want to stay with me?" Pearl didn't understand. "I'm about to get off work too."

"Because you saved me." Sophia thought for a moment. "You saved me, and I will never forget this kindness. I was wrong before."

"Has your attitude to me changed because of this?" Pearl asked with amusement. She didn't expect that saving Sophia would cure her of her prejudice against Pearl.

"Yes, I didn't understand you before. Now I know you're not that kind of person."

"What kind of person?"

"Just..." Sophia whispered, "a bad perspm."

Pearl thought about it. Sophia was close to Aurora and probably heard a lot of bad things about Pearl from her.

Before understanding someone, it's easy to be influenced by others' words.

Pearl could understand that.

Besides, Sophia was an innocent and loyal person.

She wasn't inherently bad, just inexperienced and unable to see others' true nature.

"Do you remember what I said on your grandfather's birthday?" Pearl looked at Sophia.

Sophia was still a bit confused.

"I forgave you," Pearl said. "I didn't lose anything, so it's fine."

Upon hearing this, Sophia was even happier. She grabbed Pearl's arm with both hands, "You forgive me? Thank you, you're so kind. I want to hang out with you from now on."

Pearl couldn't help but laugh at Sophia's innocence. "Is that all it takes? It can't be that simple."

"Can't I hang out with you?" Sophia thought Pearl was prejudiced against her.

"No." Pearl thought Sophia was too naive. Trusting others so easily would lead to getting hurt, whether emotionally or physically.

But Pearl didn't say anything more.

Keeping a pure heart wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

Saying too much in a short time might be too much for Sophia to handle.

"How about coming home for dinner tonight?" Pearl decided to invite Sophia.

"Sure, I can have dinner with you."

Sophia was very happy. She didn't expect Pearl to forgive her so quickly.

Sophia thought she would have to say a lot of flattering words and still might not get Pearl's forgiveness.

After work, they went back home.

In the car, Sophia and Pearl were sitting together, while Oscar was in the driver's seat, his face dark. He saw Sophia and Pearl holding hands through the rearview mirror.

Since when did they get so close?

Oscar didn't want Sophia tagging along with him and Pearl.

"Oscar, thank you for driving the car. I'm having dinner with Pearl," Sophia said, not noticing Oscar's expression, urging him to drive.

Sophia was already very hungry.

Oscar coldly replied, "Did I say I was taking you home? Where's your driver? Get him to pick you up."

Oscar wasn't going to be Sophia and Pearl's chauffeur.

Sophia kept holding onto Pearl, "We agreed to have dinner together. You can't kick me out."

Pearl said, "We're going to my parents' house. I've already told them I'm bringing a friend for dinner."

"If we're going to your parents' house, should I buy a gift?" Sophia was worried about making a bad impression on Pearl's family.

"No need to worry. My parents are very easygoing, and the food they make is delicious," Pearl reassured Sophia.

If they went back to the mansion, it would just be the few of them, definitely quiet and lonely, not as good as going back to Pearl's home

The main thing was that Pearl's parents were good cooks.

Their cooking might suit Sophia's taste.

Oscar reluctantly looked at Pearl through the rearview mirror again but he didn't refuse. He started the car, though his face remained cold and unhappy.

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the house.

Kittie had already prepared the meal, knowing that Pearl would come with her friend, so she made a lot of dishes.

"Pearl, you're back!" Kittie said.

"Mom," Pearl called out.

Evans was also very polite, greeting them at the door with a smile, "Come in and have a seat."

"Hello, Uncle, my name is Sophia," Sophia said a bit nervously.

"Come in," Evans said warmly. After Sophia and Pearl entered, seeing Oscar still behind them, Evans' smile faded, and his tone turned cold, "Why are you here too?"

Ever since Evans and Kittie found out that Oscar and Pearl were getting a divorce, Oscar had rarely seen them.

Evans had never had a good impression of Oscar.

And now it was even worse.

Oscar could only lower his status and say, "Dad."

"I just brought them over."

Evans had no intention of letting Oscar in. "You just brought them over, so you're leaving, right?"

Evans' words were meant to drive Oscar away.

Oscar didn't respond to Evans but said, "I also need to take them home later."

Evans snorted coldly, didn't welcome Oscar, nor did he close the door, but turned and walked inside.

Sophia greeted Kittie again.

Kittie smiled and said, "What a pretty girl. Pearl, you've made a new friend. Have a seat, there's some fruit over there. Pearl, peel one for her."

"Okay."

"Sophia, right?" Evans sat across from them, also very kind to Sophia. "Would you like some water? Young people like juice. How about asking Kittie to make some juice? She's quite good at it."

Sophia's eyes widened. "Really?"

Pearl said, "My parents like to cook since they retired. If there's anything you want to eat, just let them know. They can make almost everything."

"I'm not picky" Sophia wasn't particular about food.

They chatted happily, leaving Oscar isolated.

Oscar had no choice but to say, "Mom, let me help you."
