Chapter 29 The Hidden Truth

Pearl followed Magdalen to a quiet café that Magdalen owned. They sat by the window, and Magdalen personally made a cup of coffee for Pearl.

"Try it" Magdalen smiled. "It tastes good."

Pearl cautiously took a sip and instantly felt the rich aroma of the coffee spreading in her mouth. She sincerely exclaimed, "It's delicious, Magdalen, you have great taste."

Magdalen looked at Pearl with a hint of affection in her eyes. She softly said, "Pearl, you and Oscar have been married for a few years now, right?"

Pearl nodded, wondering why Magdalen suddenly brought this up.

Magdalen continued, "I think, maybe it's time for you two to consider having a child. Having a child can strengthen your bond and make your relationship more stable."

Upon hearing this, Pearl's face turned red instantly. She lowered her head, fingers unconsciously twisting together.

After a moment of silence, she gathered the courage to look up, eyes filled with a hint of sadness. "Magdalen, to be honest, Oscar and I haven't been doing well these past few years. We often have arguments, sometimes not speaking for days."

Magdalen furrowed her brows slightly upon hearing this. She reached out and gently patted Pearl's hand to comfort her. "Pearl, you should rest assured. David really likes you and wants Oscar to be happy."

Pearl looked at Magdalen with surprise, unsure of how to respond.

Magdalen continued, "You know, that's why David always opposed Haley marrying Oscar back then. He felt that Haley wasn't suitable for Oscar or for the Brown family."

At this point, Pearl felt a mix of emotions. She was grateful for David's approval, but at the same time, she felt like she might have let him down. "Magdalen, did I disappoint David?" she asked softly, her voice trembling.

Magdalen shook her head resolutely. "No, you haven't let anyone down. Marriage is a journey filled with ups and downs. Both you and Oscar are still young, and there are many adjustments to be made. The key is to comprehend and accommodate each other."

Pearl nodded silently, feeling a warm surge in her heart. Magdalen's words gave her great encouragement.

"In truth," Magdalen continued, "Oscar has always been reserved since his youth, not adept at expressing his emotions. But I can see that he values you. Otherwise, he wouldn't have given you that card."

Pearl recalled the bank card, and a glimmer of hope sparked within her. Perhaps Oscar's gesture with the card was his way of showing care in his own manner.

As Magdalen observed Pearl lost in thought, she gently remarked, "Pearl, remember, relationships require effort from both sides. Although Oscar may struggle with expressing himself, you can take the lead. Engage in more communication, show more care, and gradually, the distance between you will diminish."

Pearl nodded earnestly, silently committing to investing more in her marriage.

Magdalen added, "When you both feel ready, you might contemplate starting a family. Children often serve as a strong bond between husband and wife."

Pearl's face blushed again, but this time she didn't shy away from the topic. She softly said, "I will consider it, thank you, Magdalen."

Magdalen smiled satisfactorily and poured another cup of coffee for Pearl. The two continued chatting, the atmosphere becoming light and warm.

As they left the coffee shop, the sky had darkened. Magdalen insisted on driving Pearl home. In the car, Magdalen reminded her, "Remember, no matter what difficulties you face, you are not alone in this battle. The Brown family will always support you."
