Chapter 680 Repatriation
If Oscar hadn't been pulling strings behind the scenes, Harold wouldn't have been able to start a company, let alone be as successful as he was now.
Desiree used to be head over heels for him, and Daryl couldn't do anything about it.
But now, thanks to Harold's actions, that love had a crack in it, and Daryl was sure that crack would just keep getting bigger until it shattered completely!
At the embassy.
Lila cried the whole way there, but it didn't change Pearl and Oscar's minds.
When the car stopped, Pearl got out and then pulled Lila out too.
"No, I don't want to get out!" Lila clung to the seatbelt, her little hands leaving red marks from gripping so hard.
Her eyes were wide, and big tears rolled down her cheeks, soaking her clothes. "Please take me home. You said you'd treat me like family, so why are you dumping me so fast?"
Pearl almost laughed at that. Even now, Lila was trying to guilt-trip her.
Pearl didn't bother saying anything else, just pried Lila's hands off and carried her into the embassy.
In front of the staff, Pearl quickly explained the situation.
"I don't want to go. I'm not even from your country. They're my mom and dad, and Christopher is my brother," Lila said, still struggling.
She thought lying to the staff might change her fate.
But in the adult world, facts mattered most, and a few lies couldn't change everything.
The staff quickly checked the entry records, confirming Lila's identity. He told Pearl, "We'll send this child back as soon as possible and notify her family to come and get her."
Whether her family would come was their business and had nothing to do with Pearl and Oscar.
After finishing the paperwork, Pearl turned to leave. Lila seized the moment to break free from the staff's hold, ran over, and grabbed Christopher's arm, showing him the pendant around her neck. "Christopher, do you remember this pendant? We each have one."
Christopher took a closer look.
It was a necklace he had bought at an amusement park because he thought it looked nice.
Not only did he and Lila have one, but Oscar and Pearl also had one. But what did that change?
He glanced at it indifferently and then looked away. "I just remembered, when you asked me to get something for you at home, it was to make it easier for you to act, right? But you didn't think that Mom was in the room on the first floor, and the door wasn't fully closed."
After all, Emily had just recovered from a high fever. Even if Pearl and Oscar brought her home, they wouldn't let their guard down.
How could they possibly leave her alone in the living room?
Lila's face stiffened. She hadn't thought of that, otherwise, she would have acted later. "Christopher, I..."
Christopher suddenly looked at the staff nearby. "Please take her away. I want to go home with my parents."
This time, it was just the three of them going back, along with Emily at home.
Their family of four would be just fine together.
The staff hurried over and picked Lila up. "Be good, don't run around."
Lila struggled desperately.
But she couldn't do anything. Now, being held by the staff, no matter how much she kicked, she couldn't reach the ground. She could only watch as Pearl's family of three walked further and further away.
Even though they had sent Lila away, Pearl and the others were still in a bad mood.
"It's all over now, don't think about it anymore. How about listening to some music to relax?" Oscar broke the silence first.
Pearl nodded. "Any song is fine."
As Oscar inserted the car key, the car's screen lit up, and a masked man in black appeared.
His entire face was covered, leaving only his eyes visible, which threw a provocative glance at Oscar.
"Who are you?" Oscar's face turned cold.
He feared this man had something to do with Lila.
The man in black didn't answer immediately but laughed for a while before asking, "Oscar, don't you have two children? Why is there only one in the car? Is it because you don't want to bring the other one out, or because you simply can't? Although you have many skills, you certainly don't have the power to bring the dead back to life."
Oscar immediately caught the hidden meaning in his words, his eyes growing colder. "You sent Lila here."
It wasn't a question but a statement.
He had suspected that Lila had a real mastermind behind her. Otherwise, how could such a young child get hold of that kind of poison?
The man in black neither confirmed nor denied it but continued to provoke Oscar. "If you want to know, come and find out yourself. But let's see who is faster."
After saying this, the car screen went black. A few seconds later, it lit up again, returning to normal.
Pearl's face was equally grim. "We just sent Lila to the embassy, and he already knows about it. This means this person is not just anyone."
And the fact that he could think of using a child to poison showed how ruthless he was.
She couldn't remember offending such a person.
Since Christopher was still in the car, Oscar didn't want to discuss the topic further, "Pearl, I'll take you home now. You stay with the kids. Even with Calliope around, we need to stay close to them, especially Emily."
Christopher, being older, had some self-defense knowledge and knew to find Pearl and Oscar in case of danger.
But Emily was different.
She couldn't even speak yet and spent most of her time sleeping. If a bad person wanted to do something to her, it would be too easy.
Pearl nodded. "When we get home, let's install surveillance cameras, especially in Emily's room and the stroller."
"Mom and Dad, who was that person just now? He didn't look like a good guy. I didn't like him at all." Christopher frowned.
A child's sixth sense was the sharpest. The moment he saw that man, he felt like he was being watched by a venomous snake, his whole body broke out in goosebumps.
And the man's words were so unpleasant.
