Chapter 260 Do You Think I Would Care?

Chloe was driven away, and her voice gradually faded.

Harper's gaze turned to Pearl and Emma. "Thank you for reporting the news, and the reputation of Horizon Network has been restored."

Emma, being praised for the first time, felt a bit shy.

"Harper, we just restored the truth. As long as it didn't affect the station, it's fine."

Harper looked at them, dispelling their worries. "Remember, our job is to pursue the truth and restore facts. You did the right thing!"

From Harper, they received recognition.

Harper's gaze fell on Pearl. "I can see you put a lot of effort into this."

For Pearl, there was a personal motive.

"I did what a journalist should do."

"Your writing and professional skills are quite good," Harper admired Pearl. "Keep it up, and you'll have better prospects in the future."

"Thank you, Harper," Pearl replied politely.

After Harper left, the entire department was elated as the person they hated the most was finally gone.

They were also very grateful to Pearl and Emma because they no longer had to be exploited.

Meanwhile, Oscar immediately received the news that the facts Haley had faked her deafness had been exposed.

No matter who reported it, as long as it was Horizon Network, it must be related to Pearl.

Even though he had warned her not to dwell on Haley's matter, she still didn't listen.

Oscar immediately grabbed his coat and prepared to go out.

Tonight, they were all working overtime in Horizon Network.

They didn't get off work until seven in the evening.

Emma was elated this time. She was no longer confined to just typing in front of a computer; she could go out and cover news, and she was overjoyed.

She was very grateful to Pearl and invited her colleagues to dinner and karaoke, but Pearl declined.

At this moment, she just wanted to go home and rest.

After a day of overtime, she was very tired. For the sake of her child, she needed to go home and rest first.

Emma didn't insist. After saying goodbye to her, she left with her colleagues.

Pearl was the only one left at the entrance of Horizon Network.

The atmosphere was quiet.

She put her hands in the pockets of her coat and walked to the roadside. Just as she was about to hail a cab, a familiar Rolls-Royce stopped steadily in front of her.

The next second, Oscar got out of the car.

Pearl was still surprised to see him. She thought he dedicated all his time to work and taking care of Magdalen, so he shouldn't have time to tangle with her.

Oscar's face didn't look good. His deep eyes fixed on Pearl as he questioned, "Did you expose Haley's fake deafness?"

Pearl paused. She wondered why he had come to find her.

So it was for Haley.

Did he think she was bullying his Haley?

This time, Pearl raised her head and said frankly, "Yes, I did it."

Oscar frowned and said coldly, "Why didn't you listen to me?"

"Are you feeling sorry for her?" Pearl's words carried a hint of self-mockery.

"Can't you see?" Oscar said, "I'm worried about you!"

"There's nothing about me for you to worry about."

Oscar's gaze turned cold. "You always make me worry." His tone gradually became agitated. "I'm worried you'll get hurt. Besides worrying about you being retaliated against, what else can I worry about!"

His attitude was bad, even angry, but it made Pearl pause.

She seriously stared into Oscar's eyes, trying to discern whether he was sincere or not.

Could she trust him?

From his anxious eyes, it was clear that he was genuinely worried about her, but that didn't mean anything.

Pearl quickly composed herself. "I'm perfectly fine. Even if someone does retaliate against me, I will hit them back. You should be more worried about Haley. With her current bad public image and fans leaving, she might get blacklisted. Her actions could also affect your company, right?"

Thinking about it, Pearl mockingly added, "Your entertainment company's executives must be very anxious, yet here you are, coming to find me."

Oscar kept his eyes on Pearl, taking in her mockery and sarcasm.

He simply said, "It's just an entertainment company. I don't care."

With that, Pearl looked up again and saw Oscar's eyes, which had been filled with concern for her from the beginning.

It was as if he was saying that the entertainment company he founded was not important compared to her.

However, the entertainment company was created for Haley.

'Did this mean, indirectly, that I was much more important than Haley?'

Pearl quickly dismissed the thought. She shouldn't think that way!

Haley's relationship with Oscar was more convincing.

"I don't know, and you don't need to say much," Pearl chose to evade, seeing the taxi in front of her: "I need to go home now, please move aside."

Pearl went straight past him, trying to quickly get into the taxi, but Oscar grabbed her hand.

Pearl was walking fast, so when he pulled her, her waist twisted.

Pearl instinctively frowned, her hand touching her belly, feeling a tugging pain.

Seeing her reaction, Oscar's grip softened, his eyes focused on her abdomen. "Is your stomach hurting?"

Pearl didn't immediately recover from the pain.

Pregnant women should be more careful and avoid physical conflicts.

At that moment, a large hand gently touched her belly.

Pearl looked at the hand softly caressing her stomach, feeling the warmth distinctly.

This didn't seem real.

She looked up and saw Oscar's handsome face, his attention entirely on her belly, very attentive.

She realized this was real, not an illusion.

Oscar, somewhat clumsily, rubbed her belly, trying to ease her pain. "Are you still uncomfortable?"

Pearl looked at him, silent for a moment.

Oscar stiffened, not quite sure. "Did he move?"

Pearl replied, "Impossible, he's not even sixteen weeks yet."

"Really?" Oscar didn't know much, but he had a feeling.

The taxi driver, waiting impatiently, honked the horn repeatedly.

Oscar said, "She's not leaving. I'm here to pick her up."

The driver awkwardly drove away.

Pearl realized she had said too much, even discussing the baby with him.

She couldn't forget the fact that they were getting a divorce.

Their marriage certificate was torn up, showing how broken their marriage was.

At this point, she couldn't pretend nothing had happened.

"No, I'll take a cab," Pearl said. "I understand your concerns, and I'll be careful, but you still need some time to go back, it's getting late, go back early, we're not going the same way!"

She deliberately distanced herself.

Oscar remained silent.

He didn't speak, so Pearl took it as agreement and walked a bit further away from him.

Just as she was about to hail another cab, she felt herself being lifted off the ground, carried by Oscar.

Though the place was not crowded, it didn't mean there was nobody.

"Oscar, what are you doing? Put me down!"

With so many people watching, Pearl felt embarrassed.
