Chapter 188 Didn't Know He Was Such a Good Person

Kittie looked at Oscar and, naturally, wasn't as enthusiastic as before. She said indifferently, "No need, you're my guest. Just sit over there."

Kittie used to really like Oscar.

Since she knew the truth, Kittie felt regret but didn't want to blame Oscar and Pearl.

It was their marriage.

If Oscar and Pearl were getting a divorce, Kittie couldn't treat him as before.

Now, when Oscar came to Kittie's house, he could only be treated as a guest and didn't need to help.

Oscar knew things would turn out this way, so he wanted to regain their favor and tried to make a good impression in front of Pearl's parents.

"I have nothing to do, so don't mindhelping you," Oscar said, disregarding Kittie's aloofness and proactively offering his assistance.

Kittie wanted to say it wasn't necessary, but Oscar went straight to the kitchen, just like before, understanding her hard work and voluntarily helping her with chores.

Kittie looked at Oscar and sighed inwardly.

Kittie used to be happy, because Pearl was her only daughter. No matter how high Oscar's status was, he could lower himself in front of Pearl's family, showing he cared about Pearl.

Kittie thought that as long as Pearl was loved, she could be at ease. But it was all a facade.

Kittie didn't say anything and let Oscar be.

Pearl still noticed Kittie and Evans' emotions. On the surface, they were polite, but they still cared about Pearl and Oscar's marriage.

Evans had always been concerned.

Kittie felt even more hurt.

She thought Pearl had found a good husband, but it turned out to be disappointing.

"Pearl," Sophia called Pearl several times.

Pearl snapped out of her thoughts and turned around. "What's up?"

"I called you several times, why didn't you respond?"

Sophia noticed Pearl was lost in thought and whispered in her ear, "Do your parents dislike Oscar?"

Pearl asked, "Why do you say that?"

"I just feel like they don't like him," Sophia said again. "It's the first time I've seen Oscar so humble. He must be trying to please your parents."

Pearl pursed her lips together, "Maybe he wants to leave a good impression on them."

Sophia said, "I've never seen Oscar so patient before. He truly cherished you, so he values your family."

Sophia had spent some time with Oscar when she was younger.

In the military, everyone adored Sophia except for Oscar, who was distant and quiet. Despite Sophia's attempts to engage him in conversation, Oscar remained unresponsive.

Hunter had advised Sophia to treat Oscar like a brother and show him respect.

Sophia always remembered that.

No matter how distant Oscar was, she always treated him like a brother.

Hunter had said that Oscar and Sophia were alike, so Sophia could understand Oscar.

Pearl didn't say anything.

When Pearl and Oscar were about to divorce, Sophia didn't know.

Pearl didn't want to say more. As for the contract marriage being exposed, Oscar still wanted to make a good impression in front of Pearl's parents, which made Pearl confused .

Maybe it was Oscar's good upbringing.

Kittie saw Oscar rolling up his sleeves to help and said, "You don't have to do this."

Oscar replied, "This is what I should do."

Kittie, standing in front of the stove, had her thoughts about Oscar "I know the Brown family is wealthy, and many women want to marry you. Pearl may not come from a prestigious background, but she is the most important person to us. . If you have other choices, don't waste her time."

Kittie said this to Oscar with good intentions.

No matter how satisfied Kittie was with Oscar before, the moment she realized Oscar and Pearl's marriage was a transaction, nothing else mattered.

Kittie wanted Pearl to be happy, not trapped in a loveless marriage.

Oscar didn't stop what he was doing and anticipated what Kittie would say. He replied in a deep voice, "Mom, I will give you an answer."

Kittie said, "Pearl also needs happiness. I hope it won't take too long."

Kittie's words were clear: after the divorce, with Pearl's qualities, she would find someone who truly loves her.

Kittie and Evans were getting older and couldn't be with Pearl forever.

If Pearl wanted to get married and have children, they hoped no one would stand in her way.

The family had a good time at dinner. Sophia had actually had meals with many people before, like on her grandfather's birthday or during major holidays, there would always be many people dining with her.

But this feeling was somewhat different.

Kittie learned from Pearl that Sophia had never felt loved by her parents.. As a mother, Kittie could particularly empathize, so she took special care of Sophia.

"Have more vegetables. You look even thinner than Pearl. You'll look better with a bit more weight," Kittie said, putting food on Sophia's plate.

Sophia quickly held her plate to catch the food. "Thank you, Auntie."

Evans added, "Sophia, help yourself. We weren't prepared this time, but next time you come, tell us what you like to eat, and we'll make it for you."

Kittie and Evans' care touched Sophia. She took a sip of her juice and suddenly paused.

Pearl noticed Sophia's unusual expression and asked, "What's wrong? Is it not match your taste?"

Sophia shook her head. "No, Auntie, it's the best juiceI've ever had."

Kittie smiled at the compliment. "You are flattering me."

Sophia felt a lot of warmth at Pearl's home.

She suddenly liked Pearl even more.

Sophia understood. Growing up in such a warm family, Pearl couldn't have many bad intentions.

Sophia had been too influenced by Aurora's words. She suddenly felt even more guilty towards Pearl.

Oscar was also happy to see Pearl and Sophia getting along well.

Having one more friend is always better than having one more enemy.

Before leaving, Sophia expressed her gratitude to Kittie and Evans, saying,"Goodbye, Uncle and Auntie. Thank you for the food." Sophia didn't expect Kittie and Evans to truly cherish her. Although she had been pampered all her life, this warmth was different.

Sophia also really liked Kittie and Evans and politely said goodbye to them.

Kittie came out of the kitchen, holding a paper bag.

Afraid Sophia would leave, so she hurried out and handed the bag to Sophia, "Take it home to drink. If you want more next time, let me know, and I'll send it to you."

Sophia was surprised by the attention.

She realized Kittie had been busy in the kitchen making juice for her. Sophia suddenly wanted to cry.

"What's wrong? You look like you're about to cry." Kittie noticed Sophia's red eyes.

Sophia was indeed about to cry. She wiped the corners of her eyes. "Nothing, I just didn't expect you to be so good to me. I thought it was just a simple meal, but I didn't expect to meet such kind people. Even when I'm leaving, you're giving me so many things. Honestly, I'm quite envious of Pearl."
