Chapter 778 Why are you telling me this?
For a moment, Azalea was at a loss for words.
George, this amazing guy, had swooped into her life like a knight in shining armor.
But now she was being told it was all a lie.
Nathaniel!
What was his deal?
Azalea had no influential family, no status, and no impressive job.
She didn't even have money.
Hugo noticed her dazed expression and asked, "Did you get scammed into donating organs? Or did you give him your bank card?"
Scams and illegal trades were everywhere these days.
Azalea shook her head. "None of that. He was always the one sending me money. I'm pregnant. I have nothing he could scam."
That made it even weirder. Nothing was stolen, just a fake name used.
Hugo dug deeper and finally spilled the beans to Azalea. "Nathaniel, a hotshot lawyer from Willow Creek. You were probably just a pawn in his game."
Some rich folks had really twisted hobbies.
Azalea already felt awful, and Hugo's words made her feel even worse.
Was she just a fun and entertaining game for Nathaniel from start to finish?
Memories of their tender moments flashed through her mind. She couldn't accept it.
But what she couldn't accept even more was being pulled into a black van as soon as she left the police station.
Fear gripped her, and she trembled. "Who are you? What do you want?"
The van had tinted windows, and there were three men inside: one driving, one in the passenger seat, and one sitting next to her.
They all wore masks.
The man next to her sneered. "You want to find Nathaniel, right? I can help you."
Azalea was even more scared. "If you're a good person, why don't you show your face?"
"I don't want to scare you. Azalea, do you know why Nathaniel approached you as George?" The man leaned closer.
His intense presence made Azalea extremely nervous.
Before she could say anything, the man beside her mocked, "It's because of your sister Saskia. When Nathaniel was still George, Saskia was with him. When Nathaniel found out you were Saskia's sister, he started his revenge plan."
Saskia had a boyfriend before, but she said he was dead.
Now Azalea was being told Nathaniel was Saskia's boyfriend. How could she accept that?
What was even harder to accept were the photos the man threw at her.
They were all high-resolution pictures of Nathaniel being close to Saskia.
This meant Saskia had recognized George as Nathaniel from the start but didn't say anything.
Saskia had watched Nathaniel use Azalea step-by-step.
Azalea's heart ached. She asked, "Why are you telling me this?"
The man laughed heartily. "A two-person drama isn't as entertaining as a multi-person one."
Azalea would turn against Saskia after learning all this. As for Nathaniel, love had turned to hate, and it promised to be quite a spectacle! Azalea's head felt like it was going to explode.
She couldn't find Nathaniel.
Not only could she not find him, but now she knew all this.
Her heart ached so much she could barely breathe.Unexpectedly, she was shoved out of the van. "Don't forget to put on a good show for me," the man sneered.
Even though the van had slowed down, Azalea was suddenly pushed out and hit the ground.
It hurt, but not as much as her heart.
Azalea watched the van speed away and called Saskia. "Saskia, what are you doing right now? I need to talk to you in person."
Azalea's tone immediately made Saskia realize something was wrong.
Azalea must have found out something. If Saskia didn't clear things up now, neither of them would be at ease.
So, she stopped what she was doing and went to find Azalea.
Azalea sat by the roadside, her face blank, her eyes empty.
Saskia hurried over. "Azalea, what's wrong?"
Hearing the voice, Azalea looked up, a deep, mocking smile on her lips. "You really don't know what's wrong, my dear sister."
Azalea deliberately emphasized the word "sister."
The mockery on her lips and the coldness in her eyes made Saskia realize Azalea knew everything.
Saskia knew Azalea would find out the truth eventually.
But she didn't expect it to happen so soon!
Saskia's throat felt sore, as if something heavy was stuck in it. "Azalea, I didn't mean to hide it from you. When I left Nathaniel, I took Jade's money." Saskia lowered her head and sat next to Azalea.
Yet Azalea reflexively stood up. "I don't blame you for your past, but why did you hide it from me afterward?"
"Am I such a terrible person that I don't deserve to know? Or did you think if you told me the truth, I'd try to take Nathaniel from you?" Azalea was indeed very agitated.
Saskia felt terrible, but it was better for Azalea to know now than later.
Saskia said, "I only saw him at your engagement party. I never intended to hide it from you. Besides, we had already broken up. Why would I be afraid of you taking him from me?"
At that moment, Saskia felt relieved.
She knew she would never have to worry about Azalea finding out or Nathaniel threatening her again.
Saskia made a decision. "I'll take Benjamin and leave. Azalea, you and Nathaniel can live your lives. Don't worry, I won't interfere anymore."
Azalea's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Live our lives? Nathaniel is missing. How can I live with him? Whenever I had money, I wanted to help you treat Benjamin, but how did you repay me? You hid the truth from me."
Saskia frowned. If Nathaniel was missing, who had told Azalea everything?
Was it Jade? Or Amy?
Saskia clenched her fists. She had no money or power, but she wouldn't let anyone hurt her family!
Saskia lowered her head. "Azalea, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have hidden it from you. You can hit me or scold me, whatever you want."
Nathaniel was the one who hid his identity and did all this.
Even though Saskia was threatened, she had become an accomplice.
However, Azalea didn't care about her words. "The damage is done. What's the point of saying this now? Saskia, from now on, we're no longer sisters. I never want to see you again!"
