Chapter 675 Will They Believe You?

Harold's hand hung in the air, frozen.

He wanted to stop Desiree, but he was scared of hurting her. "Please, don't go. I swear, I won't go back there, no matter what they say or do. I just want to live a good life with you."

"And what about my baby?" Desiree grabbed his hand and placed it on her flat stomach.

Harold's eyes filled with pain.

Desiree's heart ached too, but she pushed on, "Tell me, where is our baby? Can the baby come back? If it could, I wouldn't care if you were with another woman, even if you brought her in front of me. I just want my baby."

She'd rather something happen to herself than to her child.

"Desiree, don't say that. You're the only one I love. If you're mad, you can hit me or yell at me, but don't say things like that." Harold knew these words were hurting her even more.

Desiree was dealing with not just physical pain, but also a ton of emotional stress.

As her husband, he hadn't helped her at all. Instead, he made things worse. He felt like he deserved to suffer.

Even though none of this was his choice, he had still hurt Desiree.

"I've never doubted your love for me, which is why I can't accept you being with another woman. When I went to your house to find you, I was ready to take you away at all costs, but when I opened the door, you two were hugging." Thinking about it felt like a knife to Desiree's heart.

Pain, suffering, and mockery tangled her up, and she couldn't shake it off.

What had she done to deserve this?

After thinking it over, the only mistake she made was loving Harold. "If we had broken up earlier and listened to our parents, it wouldn't have come to this."

"Desiree! Do you regret being with me?" Harold's lips trembled, and his eyes turned red.

For him, nothing could be worse than this.

Desiree nodded. "Yes, I regret it. If I had been with someone else, my baby wouldn't be gone, and my husband wouldn't be tangled up with another woman right after I had a miscarriage."

That scene was burned into her memory.

She picked up her suitcase and left again. This time, Harold didn't stop her.

He just watched her go and silently followed her.

"Mrs. Lewis, where are you going with your suitcase?" Natalia walked up to Desiree and reached out to take the suitcase. "Let me handle this. You need to take care of yourself and rest."

Even though a miscarriage wasn't as severe as childbirth, it still needed proper rest, or it could cause lasting health issues.

Desiree shook her head. "No, I'm leaving here for good and will never come back."

Harold, who had just reached the staircase, heard this.

Natalia was stunned. She had guessed they had argued, but she didn't think it was this serious.

She quickly turned to look at Harold, giving him a meaningful look. "Mrs. Lewis is leaving."

'Why is he just standing there? Shouldn't he be chasing after her?'

"Natalia, don't bother. Once I've made up my mind to leave, no one can stop me," Desiree said firmly.

Natalia gave an awkward smile and backed off.

After all, they were a married couple. Outsiders could only do so much, whether it was to help them reconcile or separate.

She could only worry in her heart.

"Desiree." Harold rushed to the door. "It's okay if you need a break. When you're ready to come back, just let me know, and I'll come get you."

"Mr. Lewis, are you dense, or do you think I'm an idiot?" Desiree laughed bitterly. "I said I'm leaving for good and will never come back, not just taking a break and then continuing to be your wife!"

Their relationship was completely over, just like their child, with no chance of recovery.

Desiree walked downstairs with her suitcase.

Harold wanted to help, but his outstretched hand only brushed her clothes, which slipped away instantly.

He could only watch as Desiree got into a car and disappeared from his sight.

"Mrs. Lewis was really angry today. I've never seen her this mad. Women have soft hearts, if you coax her, she'll be willing to come back once she calms down," Natalia advised Harold.

She had seen how sweet the couple usually was. If they separated like this, it would be a great regret.

Harold understood this, but the obstacles between them were too many.

It wasn't just today's incident.

The child, their parents, all these were like mountains standing between them, stretching endlessly.

But he couldn't just let Desiree go.

He stood at the door for a long time until he heard a car stop.

He thought Desiree had come back, but when he turned around, he saw his parents and Isolde.

The three of them stood together, looking like a family.

"Harold, we already..." Isolde deliberately left her sentence unfinished. Given her current posture, anyone who didn't know the truth would think they had an intimate relationship.

Natalia's eyes widened even more.

No wonder Desiree was so angry and insisted on leaving. It turned out Harold had cheated!

He chose the worst possible time to cheat, right after Desiree's miscarriage. Wasn't that just hurting her even more?

If her husband did something like that, she would be heartbroken too and would want to leave this place for good.

But Natalia was just a servant, so she had no right to interfere and could only watch from the side.

"Nothing happened between us, and you know that better than I do. Don't try to pin this on me," Harold said coldly, his words heavy, "As a young woman, you should know how important your reputation is."

"Even if nothing happened between you two, do you think others will believe it? Does Desiree believe it? She saw you two in a room together with her own eyes," Ember interrupted Harold.

Since she had drugged the tea, she was determined to break them up. There was no turning back now. "I think you two should just break up as soon as possible."
