Chapter 474 This is My Gratitude to You

Jeffery spoke slowly, his gaze growing more determined.

He suddenly remembered Carol from years ago, her smile warm and beautiful.

Carol had once saved and protected him. Without her, he wouldn't be alive today, even though his life was nearing its end.

Back then, he didn't know she was RavenWing's daughter. But now, being by Carol's side was his greatest comfort.

RavenWing, hearing Jeffery's words, understood.

After a moment, he said quietly, "Don't forget, I made you an experimental subject."

RavenWing had the power to turn Jeffery into an experimental subject and also the power to restore him to normal.

He now knew those experiments only drove people insane, but Carol was his priority.

"Really?" Jeffery's eyes lit up with joy.

He had left because he knew his life was ending. He wanted to stay with Pearl but didn't want to burden her with his failing health. He returned for her sake.

After seeing Pearl suffer as an experimental subject under Kevin, he couldn't leave.

But now, RavenWing could make him normal again, something he had always dreamed of.

RavenWing said hoarsely, "Yes. Consider it my thanks for saving Pearl."

"RavenWing, if you can help me, why not help Oscar?" Jeffery asked.

Pearl had been worrying about Oscar's health.

RavenWing stayed silent, looking serious.

Even in the military, Oscar took good care of Pearl. Her meals were separate, and after Louis and RavenWing arrived, they became even more luxurious.

But Pearl had no appetite and shared her food with the wounded.

She told Oscar, "I don't need special treatment. I'll eat what the soldiers eat. If Adrian and Barbara stay, I stay too."

Oscar knew Pearl would say that and had to comply. He made it clear, "These are from Louis and the others, not me. If you don't want them, tell them yourself."

Pearl didn't say anything. She looked at Louis and RavenWing, who were eating different food but still smiling at her.

Pearl pursed her lips and said quietly, "I've made myself clear. Don't disturb my life. If you have business with Oscar, talk to him and leave me out of it."

Feeling downcast, she left the tent.

RavenWing felt disappointed. He wanted to make it up to Pearl, but in this war-torn place, he could only do so much.

Unexpectedly, Pearl didn't appreciate it.

He felt sad and didn't know how to please her.

Louis gave him a look and then got up to chase after Pearl.

Pearl heard footsteps behind her and guessed who it was but didn't look back. She thought if she walked faster, Louis would give up.

Louis jogged in front of her, blocking her path. "Pearl, wait a minute!"

She didn't like being called Carol, so he respected that.

Pearl looked at him, confused. "What do you want?"

Louis spoke softly, "Pearl, I know you're resistant. RavenWing did a lot of bad things, but he truly cares for us. After you disappeared, he never stopped looking for you."

"When Kevin brought Haley back, RavenWing thought it was you and gave her all the love he wanted to give you."

Pearl raised her hand, signaling him to stop, but Louis continued.

"You don't know, do you? RavenWing pursued his ambitions by conducting experiments, turning Jeffery into an experimental subject. But now he says he can make Jeffery normal again, and he even thanked him."

Pearl's breath caught.

RavenWing, the mighty king of the Eldorians, had been deceived by Kevin for years. Louis had spoken against him many times but had never seen him bow. Yet, for Pearl, RavenWing would bow to anyone.

Pearl remained silent, her throat tight.

She didn't expect RavenWing to go this far for her. Maybe, as Louis said, despite his wrongdoings, he was a loving father. Half of her blood came from RavenWing, and that couldn't change. But she couldn't accept it.

"I don't want to talk about this now. Can you stop?" Pearl was mentally exhausted.

Louis didn't want to see her like this, but these were things she had to face.

After a moment, Louis said quietly, "Pearl, I don't want to force you. But RavenWing and I are here now, and everything has changed in Eldorians. If you don't come to us, where will you go? Haven't you and Oscar already divorced?"

Louis had investigated her relationship with Oscar thoroughly. Pearl felt a heavy weight in her chest.

Before she could respond, Louis continued, "Only by coming to the Eldorians can we protect you. Father and I must make it up to you. No one can impersonate you, and no one can shake your position."

"Pearl, I know it's hard to accept. But we are your only family, and that won't change."

"I don't want to hear this. I've made it clear. I won't go back to the Eldorians. Why do you keep pushing me? I've forgotten those memories. My name is Pearl, not Carol. I grew up in Willow Creek, and I'm not a child. I have the right to decide my life!"

As soon as Pearl finished speaking, alarms blared throughout the camp.
