Chapter 886 Are You Crazy or Am I Crazy?
Lyra didn't even get a word in before Jeffery turned and walked away.
Even though Jeffery was Mr. Gray, Lyra only saw him during meetings and never at any other time.
Today was the first time she had been this close to him.
Jeffery was dressed in surgical scrubs, wearing a mask and a cap. Even though she couldn't see his face, his eyes were deep and cold.
Throughout the entire surgery, even though the situation was extremely urgent, Jeffery remained completely calm.
His composure and steadiness highlighted his excellence.
Lyra took a deep breath.
She seemed to understand why so many female nurses, interns, and even female doctors were crazy about him.
She stretched her muscles and walked out of the operating room.
As soon as she returned to her office, a colleague came looking for her.
Seeing the name tag on the chest, Lyra realized the person was an intern.
Lyra remained polite, "Hey, can I help you with something?"
"Dr. Chapman, you just finished a surgery with Mr. Gray, right?"
Lyra was puzzled by the intern's question, "Yeah, why?"
The intern showed her fingers, "Dr. Chapman, can you do me a favor? Can you add Mr. Gray on WhatsApp and introduce him to me? Or secretly take a few photos of him for me? I'll pay you this much."
The intern's eyes were full of anticipation.
Lyra was amused by the intern's request, "Even if I give you Mr. Gray's WhatsApp, to him, you're just a stranger. Do you think Mr. Gray will accept your request?"
"And don't you know that taking photos without permission is illegal?"
"You want me to do such a big favor for such a small amount of money. Are you crazy, or am I crazy?"
Lyra said several things to the intern in a row.
The intern quickly explained, "No, Dr. Chapman, as long as you're willing to help me, five thousand dollars, no, fifty thousand dollars is no problem."
Fifty thousand dollars for a photo and a WhatsApp introduction.
It seemed this little intern was crazy.
Lyra shook her head, "I already told you, he won't accept you. You're willing to spend fifty thousand dollars, but how much do you make in a month?"
"For him, I'm willing to spend fifty thousand dollars! Dr. Chapman, if you can help me, I can give you even more benefits."
The intern urgently grabbed Lyra's hand.
Seeing her so desperate, Lyra didn't know what to say.
Spending fifty thousand dollars on something like this!
She was really crazy!
Lyra didn't want to help, but unexpectedly, her phone rang at that moment.
"Lyra, Aaron Hill tried to kill himself again. I didn't want to bother you, I thought about dying with him. But I can't do it."
Hearing this, Lyra felt her scalp tingle.
"Mom, don't worry, I'll be home right away."
"Okay, okay, you must come home quickly."
The phone was filled with the sound of a woman sobbing.
Lyra couldn't think about anything else now. She grabbed her phone and was about to leave.
But the intern was still blocking her way.
"Dr. Chapman, I heard that Mr. Gray is going to reward you for completing this surgery."
"Dr. Chapman, if you ask for this favor, I think there won't be any problem. If you can make the connection, I'll give you a hundred thousand dollars."
The intern was determined, blocking Lyra's way and not letting her leave.
A hundred thousand dollars was a huge amount for Lyra.
Sometimes, she took on private jobs secretly just to make more money to atone for her sins.
A hundred thousand dollars was a timely rain.
But if Jeffery found out about this, she might not be able to stay in this hospital.
"Dr. Chapman, you don't want me to offer five hundred thousand dollars, do you?"
She wanted to approach Jeffery from all angles, but it was impossible.
Jeffery's assistant was even more out of the question.
She had no choice but to find Lyra.
After all, if Lyra took the money, she would do the job first. If Lyra got fired or something happened later, it had nothing to do with her.
Lyra's head hurt. "Let me handle my business first, and we can talk about your request tomorrow, okay?"
"Aren't you going to Mr. Gray's office tomorrow?"
"Dr. Chapman, we should settle this now."
The intern kept talking, and Lyra's phone rang again.
"Lyra, the person who should die the most is you. If it weren't for you, our family wouldn't be in this situation!"
As soon as she answered the phone, there was an angry roar.
This voice was too familiar to her.
It made her scalp tingle, and it made her suffocate.
"Don't get excited. I'm coming back right now, I'll give you what you want."
Lyra took a deep breath, feeling dizzy.
She hung up the phone.
Almost like grabbing onto hope, she grabbed the intern in front of her.
"Didn't you say you'd give me a hundred thousand dollars? Transfer it to me now, and I'll take care of it for you tomorrow."
"I'll transfer it to your bank account right now."
The intern was overjoyed when Lyra agreed.
When the intern took out her phone, Lyra noticed it was the latest model.
The phone case was even encrusted with diamonds.
Of course, someone without money wouldn't be so generous.
Lyra gave her the account number, and soon, a hundred thousand dollars was transferred to her bank account.
The intern specifically instructed, "I want high-definition photos, and try to get him to add me on WhatsApp."
"Then I need to log into your WhatsApp. Otherwise, how can I add him?"
"Then log into my WhatsApp. Lyra."
The intern suddenly called her name, her expression turning fierce, "I've given you my WhatsApp. If you don't do as I say, you'll pay a heavy price!"
Lyra's breath caught.
She had taken the money; did she have a choice?
After logging into the intern's WhatsApp, Lyra took the phone.
Lyra hurriedly ran out of the office.
She wanted to call a cab.
Unexpectedly, on the app, she was 49th in line!
Lyra had to change locations, as she needed to get there as quickly as possible.
As Lyra anxiously walked, a white Porsche Cayenne stopped in front of her.
Lyra was confused, but the next second, she saw Jeffery in the driver's seat.
"Get in, I'll give you a ride."
Lyra thought for a moment and decided to get in the car.
"Mr. Gray, I'm sorry to trouble you. I'm 49th in line on the app, but don't worry, I'll pay you the market rate for the ride; you don't have to worry about that."
Jeffery's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Do you think I'm giving you a ride just to get paid?"
"Of course not."
Lyra knew it wasn't, after all, she and Jeffery had no relationship.
But she couldn't accept the favor for nothing.
"Where to?" Jeffery asked in a low voice.
