Chapter 797 Go to See Azalea
Quincy had a bad feeling. He touched Saskia's forehead and quickly pulled his hand back.
"Maybe the wound got infected, but that shouldn't be the case; the meds should have worked," he muttered.
He quickly checked Saskia's condition.
He held her eyelids open and shone a flashlight into her eyes, but her response was weak.
Quincy frowned. He grabbed a pill from the medical kit and put it in her mouth, then looked up.
"This is beyond me. We need to get her to a hospital for a full check-up," he said.
Nathaniel didn't waste a second. He picked up Saskia and rushed downstairs.
Quincy called out, but Nathaniel didn't respond, moving swiftly.
Quincy looked down at himself, still in his pajamas with a coat thrown over them and wearing plaid slippers. He had rushed over in such a hurry, only to be left behind by Nathaniel.
He gritted his teeth. "Nathaniel, you jerk! Always putting women before friends. I'll never forgive you, never!"
A gust of wind blew past, carrying away his anger.
The hospital was bustling with people. Nathaniel carried Saskia to the examination room, seemingly tireless. "Please help her! She's passed out with a fever and isn't responding."
The emergency room doctors immediately surrounded them and took Saskia for treatment.
About twenty minutes later, a doctor came out and removed his mask.
"Is it an infection from the wound?" Nathaniel asked.
"Doesn't seem like it," the doctor sighed. "It looks more like a viral infection due to a weakened immune system. This kind of fever is quite unusual. We've stabilized her condition, and we'll do a blood test to determine the cause."
Then Saskia was wheeled out, looking much better.
Nathaniel thought back carefully. He hadn't neglected Saskia these past few days, and the temperature in the villa was comfortable. It wasn't a wound infection, so how did she catch a virus?
"Does she need to be admitted?" Nathaniel asked. Though he didn't want to, he was concerned about Saskia's health.
The doctor replied thoughtfully, "Just finish the IV treatment. Continue with the medication and monitor her. If the fever returns, bring her back for a recheck."
"Alright." Nathaniel stayed by Saskia's side.
After all the commotion, he finally took a good look at her.
On the hospital bed, she looked incredibly weak, her face pale and bloodless, just like when she left years ago.
Nathaniel murmured, "You really leave me no choice."
After the IV treatment, he carried Saskia back to the villa.
The gentle rocking stirred Saskia from her sleep, and she slowly opened her eyes, still disoriented. It took her a moment to realize she was in Nathaniel's arms, leaving her momentarily stunned.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
Nathaniel scoffed, "What? Think I'm up to something?"
For some reason, Saskia felt a bit shy hearing this and lowered her head to hide her emotions. "I think I had a nightmare," she said.
"You dreamt about me," Nathaniel stated calmly.
Saskia felt dizzy and struggled to get down.
She said, "I don't need you to carry me. I can walk myself."Nathaniel's face darkened. "Why are you being so stubborn?"
He carried Saskia to the bedroom upstairs and gently placed her on the bed.
The sudden drop made Saskia gasp and instinctively grab his neck.
Nathaniel felt her action and smiled faintly.
"Even when you're this sick, you're still trying to seduce me?" he teased.
Saskia coughed in embarrassment, her cheeks flushing as she struggled to find the words to explain herself.
"Just kidding," Nathaniel said calmly.
He found a chair and sat by the bed.
After coughing, Saskia changed the subject. "I feel like I'm really sick this time. What's wrong with me?"
"The test results aren't out yet," Nathaniel replied.
Saskia nodded slightly and didn't say more. She cleared her throat and suddenly felt thirsty.
She couldn't get out of bed and didn't want to trouble Nathaniel, but he handed her a cup of warm water.
His kindness warmed her heart for a brief moment, but that feeling quickly faded.
"Am I really that scary to you? Even your nightmares are about me?" Nathaniel squinted, staring into her eyes.
"No, it's just..." Saskia struggled to find the right words.
Nathaniel chuckled and stood up. "Get some sleep."
He returned to his room and reviewed some case files. There had been a lot of cases recently.
An hour later, he still felt uneasy about Saskia and quietly checked on her. She was asleep, seemingly without nightmares this time, resting peacefully.
Nathaniel placed his hand on her face to check her temperature, but she grabbed his hand.
"Don't go." Her voice was soft and pleading, reminiscent of a child's.
Nathaniel's heart softened for a moment.
Looking at her serene, sleeping face, he felt like he was back in the days when they were in love, but everything had changed.
He stayed with her all night and left in the early morning.
Feeling the sunlight on her face, Saskia opened her eyes. Her hand still bore the warmth of another's touch, as if someone had held it throughout the night.
She thought with a bitter smile, 'It must be an illusion.'
Meanwhile, Nathaniel arrived at the meeting spot as planned.
Azalea was suspected of kidnapping, and Nathaniel was prepared.
He parked the car and leaned against it, waiting. Azalea soon arrived.
After she got out, Nathaniel glanced at her car and frowned. "Where's Benjamin?"
Azalea clutched her stomach, still feeling the presence of the child and Nathaniel's coldness.
"After all this time, you don't ask how I am? You only care about Benjamin?" she said.
"I've made things clear to you," Nathaniel said coldly. "We have no relationship."
Remembering that nightmarish evening and the video, Azalea screamed in pain. "That's all fake! You're just trying to avoid responsibility! Nathaniel, why are you doing this?"
Seeing her crumble, Nathaniel took a deep breath. "Azalea, I've shared the truth you were looking for. Where's Benjamin?"
Hearing this, Azalea felt a chill in her heart. All her emotions poured out to Nathaniel, but he only responded with impatience.
She laughed bitterly. "Benjamin? He's dead!"
