Chapter 163 Crisis
Oscar was handling work, looked up, and gave Pearl a cold glance before unusually taking the document from her hand and flipping through it.
Pearl felt a bit nervous and heard him say, "These people are good, they can stay."
Oscar set aside the approved resumes and added, "Ask them to come for an interview tomorrow."
Oscar's directness surprised Pearl, but she quickly responded, "Okay, I'll call them."
Oscar continued. "If there's nothing else, you can leave."
Pearl looked at Oscar's indifferent expression, feeling he was strange, but since he said so, she had to leave.
However, Harold walked in briskly, "Mr. Brown, there's an incident at the East construction site!"
Hearing this, Oscar frowned, got up, and walked out with Harold.
Seeing the urgency, Pearl instinctively followed.
As they walked out, Oscar stopped, looked back at Pearl, and then glanced at Payton's position, "You follow me. Pearl doesn't need to go."
Pearl was stunned.
Payton was also momentarily surprised, but seeing Oscar's gaze directed at him, he knew it was his chance to shine. He immediately stood up, somewhat excited, "Yes, Mr. Brown!"
Payton quickly followed Oscar.
They took the elevator and left. Pearl returned to her seat.
Shortly after sitting down, she heard people outside discussing, "Someone died at the East project. If the situation is serious, Mr. Brown could be imprisoned!"
Hearing this, Pearl felt anxious and her face turned pale.
She quickly checked the latest news and indeed, the conflict pointed towards Oscar. Pearl immediately went out again.
Three people had died at the East construction site.
The building collapse directly alerted the media and the police.
As soon as Oscar got out of the car and arrived at the site, reporters thrust microphones at him.
"Mr. Brown, how do you plan to resolve this incident?"
"Mr. Brown, three people died at once. You need to give us an explanation for this accident."
Not only were the reporters pressing him, but also the workers and the grievances of the workers' families.

Harold and Payton started communicating with these people as soon as they arrived.

Finally, Oscar stepped forward.

Even the victims' families cried out. "He has so many crimes! He must have known about the construction issues. This is intentional murder!"
"If he killed someone, he should pay with his life! Officer, you must help us!"
Pearl got out of the car and heard these voices. The scene was chaotic, and Pearl immediately lost her composure, clarifying the situation. "This is slander and framing! I've been with Mr. Brown for years. If he had committed so many crimes, they would have been exposed long ago!"
Pearl had been with Oscar for many years, and all the contracts and taxes were legal, including the construction projects which were repeatedly confirmed.
This incident must have been deliberately caused by someone!
No one believed Pearl's words, and she was even retorted, "That's because it's being exposed now and can't be hidden anymore! You're Oscar's lover, right? That's why you're defending him!"
"Yes, you're just afraid of Oscar going bankrupt and losing your financial support, so you're trying to distort the truth here!"
These people all turned their anger towards Pearl.
They ran towards her like madmen.
Payton noticed and was pleased.
Go ahead, fight. It would be best if Pearl got beaten up, to teach her a lesson.
However, Oscar became anxious.
When Oscar tried to break free from the police around him, Pearl was protected by another group of police officers.
At the same time, Harold also walked over to Pearl.
At this moment, Oscar breathed a sigh of relief and followed the police.
Pearl immediately suggested to Harold, "Investigate Ava and Sarah."
Oscar had publicly criticized Ava at the shareholders' meeting.
Sarah had been around Oscar recently.

Nathaniel glared at Oscar. "You're just relying on having Harold and me by your side, aren't you?"
Despite his disdain, Nathaniel still prioritized Oscar.
Meanwhile, on Pearl's side, Ava had already united with shareholders to demand a re-election of the chairman and to appoint a new head for the Brown Group.
Pearl examined the group coldly and remarked, "You have all been with the Brown Group for many years. If Oscar truly had problems, he would have been arrested by now."
"Even if it's not Oscar, he's now a suspect. The company can't be without a decision-maker. We can't all just wait for him, can we?"
Ava immediately responded to Pearl.
Pearl chuckled lightly, "Mr. Williams, Mr. Brown is detained, but Harold and I are still here. Mr. Brown's intentions will be communicated promptly."
Pearl then added, "Mr. Williams, it seems like you're in a hurry about Mr. Brown being framed..."
Pearl deliberately left the sentence unfinished.
Ava's face suddenly changed, "Pearl Harris, you're just a secretary. What nonsense are you spouting?"
Pearl sneered. "What did I say that made you accuse me of spouting nonsense? Mr. Williams, you should be clear, if you don't do anything wrong, you won't have a guilty conscience. Why are others not panicking, but you are?"
Pearl's sharp eyes swept towards Ava.
Ava was furious, almost wanting to kill Pearl. "Pearl, I think you're doing this on purpose! Last time, Oscar Brown targeted me at the shareholders' meeting, and now you're saying this. Are you and Oscar Brown planning to drag me down?"
Payton, who had been silent beside Pearl, pretended to mediate. "Everyone, stop arguing. Pearl is just concerned about Mr. Brown, so she's a bit agitated."
Pearl ignored Payton and said calmly, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be able to frame anyone. Everyone, listen up. We won't push for a temporary chairman, the company's affairs will be managed by Harold and me."
