Chapter 450 Can You Help Me ?
Carol quickly waved her hand. "I can't do it, Louis. I don't know anything."
This was good, but RavenWing wouldn't back out for no reason. Whether he was testing Louis or her, she couldn't let this affect her now.
Louis smiled. "You can learn. Haven't you always been learning?"
RavenWing's eyes narrowed. "I didn't bring you here for modesty. You're siblings; support each other. Carol, forget the past. The future matters. At the banquet, I'll choose the best Eldorian for you."
They had no choice.
Throughout the meal, Carol held back her anger. After finishing, she rushed back to her place.
She was about to ask Jorge to notify Kevin, but Kevin came to her first.
Kevin's eyes were dark. "You need to be more restrained around Louis!"
"Mr. Garcia, what do you mean?" Carol was confused.
Even though RavenWing wanted to reveal her identity, the whole camp already knew she was his daughter.
Louis didn't interact with her much. She could understand if he didn't like her, but why should she be restrained around him?
Kevin's face was cold. "Louis had a DNA test with Pearl."
He was about to leave the lab, but Giovanni, who delivered the blood and waited for the results, was Louis's man and only worked for him.
Carol was stunned.
But she quickly realized that since Kevin knew about this, he wouldn't let it happen.
Carol finally sighed in relief, but a cold glint flashed in her eyes. "I won't let Pearl leave here alive."
"Bringing Pearl back was a mistake." Kevin frowned, his eyes filled with anger.
Carol didn't respond.
Even if she had a reason for bringing Pearl back, she saw no need to explain it now.
Kevin's expression was cold. "Being too clever is foolish."
"I understand."
Carol agreed with Kevin, and he didn't stay long.
Carol needed to see Louis.
So, she asked Jorge for help, but Jorge told her, "Ms. Mitchell, Barbara, whom you asked me to throw into the slave camp, has been taken away by Pearl. And Pearl has Lorenzo with her, who also brought someone from the male slaves."
"They're all with Mr. Mitchell now."
It seemed she had to go to Louis.
At Louis's place, Pearl woke up first.
The first thing she did was check on Oscar, who was lying on a small bed nearby with his eyes closed and face pale.
"Oscar." Pearl instinctively shook him.
Giovanni stopped her. "He just went through a poisoning episode. His body is very weak now. Don't shake him; let him rest."
Giovanni was still there, so she was still with Louis.
She turned her gaze and, sure enough, saw Louis nearby. His lips were tightly pressed, his expression serious, but there was a hint of weakness in his demeanor.
Louis had taken a bullet from RavenWing to save her.
Since then, she hadn't spoken much to Louis.
Pearl bit her lip and walked towards him. "Oscar needs the antidote. You're RavenWing's son; you have influence. Can you..."
"I have no right. I can't get the antidote."
Before Pearl could finish, Louis cut her off. His expression was cold, and Pearl guessed he wanted her to go to RavenWing herself.
RavenWing was ruthless. If Oscar knew she was involved with him, wouldn't their identities clash?
Pearl's breath quickened. "Oscar and I have never done anything wrong. Why push us so hard?"
We couldn't change the past. Everyone had to look forward.
Louis scrutinized Pearl. Her expression seemed genuine, even urgent.
Before the test, Pearl had been so resistant.
People were indeed strange.
Louis smiled. "I didn't poison him. Telling me this is useless."
"Ms. Mitchell is here," a guard announced from outside.
Hearing the name, Pearl instinctively looked at Louis, whose face showed no extra emotion.
Pearl stopped talking and turned to Oscar.
But Louis grabbed her wrist and said softly, "Come with me to see her. It's best to clear up any misunderstandings."
Before Pearl could respond, Louis pulled her outside, and Carol walked in, carrying the items she had prepared.
"Louis, Jorge bought these for me from Tranquiloria. I haven't eaten them yet; I brought them for you."
Louis wasn't interested and said indifferently, "You and Pearl should clear up your misunderstandings."
"We have nothing to say," Pearl said coldly.
Carol had tried to kill her several times; she couldn't forgive her.
Carol said, "I'm straightforward. It's better to have a friend than an enemy."
As she spoke, Carol looked at Pearl with a hint of provocation.
Pearl smiled. "Ms. Mitchell, you're joking. We have different identities. I never wanted to be your enemy. You've been trying to kill me, and I don't know why you're so against me."
She didn't understand Louis's intention in having her clear things up with Carol, but since Carol spoke, she would retort.
Carol's face stiffened slightly.
She hadn't expected Pearl to have the guts to say that.
If Louis weren't there, she would have slapped Pearl hard.
She held back. "What happened before was a misunderstanding. Let's clear things up now. Louis, can you invite her to the party in a few days?"
"Shall we reintroduce ourselves? I'm Carol..."
"Sorry, I don't need to reintroduce myself to you," Pearl coldly interrupted her.
Suddenly, a violent coughing sound came from inside.
Pearl ignored Carol and turned to leave, but Carol's heart sank.
Carol looked at Louis and said, "Louis, she's straightforward. Can you help me communicate with her?"
