Chapter 803 Not Your Fault
Azalea clung to one thought: she had to call Saskia.
Finally, she fought through the pain and slowly pulled out her phone.
Meanwhile, Saskia saw Azalea's name on the screen and answered immediately, "Azalea, where are you?"
"Saskia." Azalea's voice was faint.
Saskia's heart sank. "Azalea, what's going on? Where are you?" she shouted.
"Nathaniel, Azalea's in trouble. Use your connections to find her. She just called me!" Saskia's voice was thick with urgency.
As Azalea heard this, her thoughts drifted to Saskia and Nathaniel together. Nathaniel had even brought Benjamin back. They were a happy family now.
In that moment, Azalea felt no anger, only relief. She remarked, "Saskia, you've worked so hard. Be with Nathaniel. I love George, not Nathaniel. I lost control for a moment, but for Benjamin's sake, live a good life with Nathaniel and give Benjamin a complete family. You'll always be my family, and I don't blame you."
Nathaniel had approached her as George, so she only loved George.
Hearing this, Saskia realized the gravity of the situation. She said, "Azalea, don't talk like that. Where are you? We'll come get you. Just hold on."
"No, I can't hold on anymore. You're my sister, no matter what. Nathaniel loves you, and I wish you both happiness." Azalea struggled to get the words out.
Saskia was falling apart.
Nathaniel had heard everything and was already having people track Azalea's location.
Azalea felt herself growing colder. She wanted so badly to be with Saskia and give her a hug. She stammered, "Saskia..."
"Azalea!" Saskia's heart-wrenching scream was met with silence.
By the time Nathaniel's people arrived, there had been a massive explosion, leaving only three charred bodies.
Nathaniel had to break the news to Saskia.
Saskia wanted to hold a funeral for Azalea, feeling it was all her fault. If it weren't for her, Jade wouldn't have pressured Nathaniel for a better future, demanding fifty million dollars.
If Nathaniel hadn't held a grudge, he wouldn't have approached Azalea as George.
In the end, Azalea wouldn't have died.
Everything had a cause and effect.
Saskia and Nathaniel could never be together in this lifetime.
Saskia was devastated.
At that time, Nathaniel stayed by Saskia's side while Jade took care of Benjamin.
Meanwhile, Oscar had already picked up Jeffery.
Jeffery brought gifts for Pearl and her children. Oscar knew how Jeffery felt about Pearl and understood their relationship.
Oscar wasn't angry; he even suggested, "How about we go to Nathaniel's after dinner?"
Pearl quickly added, "I'll cook."
Jeffery had tasted Pearl's cooking before and knew it was excellent.
If he had found Pearl sooner, Oscar wouldn't have been in the picture.
Unfortunately, he was too late for Pearl.
Jeffery wanted to enjoy Pearl's cooking, but he was busy and only had a few hours.
Jeffery said, "I can't stay for dinner. Let's go see your friend's kid first."Since Jeffery insisted, Pearl didn't push him to stay. "Alright, drive safe."
Oscar took Jeffery to Nathaniel's place. They didn't see Nathaniel but found Jade with a three-year-old boy.
"Mrs. Egan," Oscar greeted Jade. "Is this the child Nathaniel mentioned?"
Oscar had never met Benjamin before; this was his first time.
But he could see the resemblance to Nathaniel in Benjamin's features, and Jade was by his side.
"This must be your friend. Take a look at Benjamin," Jade said as she hurriedly pulled Benjamin closer.
Nathaniel and Saskia were both unwell, so Jade wanted to make amends by taking care of Benjamin.
Blood ties were strong, and Benjamin, being sensible and obedient, quickly warmed up to Jade. Now that Azalea was gone, Saskia felt even more devastated.
Benjamin was now Jade's responsibility.
Jeffery immediately examined Benjamin and diagnosed, "This child has a congenital heart defect and was born prematurely. He needs proper care, and heart surgery should be done as soon as possible. He should stay in the hospital under professional supervision."
Jeffery had been trained as an experimental subject by RavenWing. He studied medicine not just for Pearl but also for himself.
Later, he made significant breakthroughs in medicine for Christopher.
At that time, Pearl only had Christopher, and Jeffery couldn't bear to see her sad. Now, Jeffery ran a children's hospital in Willow Creek.
He was well-versed in pediatric conditions.
Jade nodded in agreement. "Hospitalization; we'll go to the hospital now. Dr. Gray, you must save Benjamin."
Jade felt she had realized things too late. If she had acted sooner, Benjamin wouldn't have suffered, and Saskia and Nathaniel could have been together earlier.
Now that Benjamin's health was at risk, Jade couldn't let anything happen to him.
She had to do everything to save Benjamin.
Benjamin remarked, "Mrs. Egan, I need to tell my mom. She's not here right now, and if I leave, she'll be worried and upset. I just got back to her; I can't leave alone."
He lowered his head, wanting to get better.
Seeing Jeffery, who seemed so confident, Benjamin also wanted to live.
That way, Saskia wouldn't be sad.
And maybe Benjamin could grow up healthy and protect Saskia.
Jade was already feeling emotional, and hearing Benjamin's words made her even more so.
She knelt down and gently stroked Benjamin's head. "It's okay. I'll call your mom. This doctor is very skilled. If you get better, you can play with your mom again."
"Then call my mom," Benjamin said, eyes full of hope.
Jade nodded. "I'll call her right now."
Saskia saw Jade's call and immediately feared something had happened to Benjamin. She was very anxious. "Mrs. Egan, is something wrong with Benjamin?" she asked.
She was busy with Azalea's funeral and couldn't leave.
Jade replied, "Oscar brought his doctor friend. Dr. Gray says we need to go to the hospital, but Benjamin wants to talk to you."
