Chapter 218 What Should We Call Him

Oscar's words were irritating, but his actions were commendable. The Brown Group had been involved in a lot of charitable work, but Oscar had never personally appeared before. Pearl remarked, "I didn't plan to be here; it just happened that way, and then you arrived with supplies. It's quite coincidental, but if it's not deliberate, I won't inquire further."

Pearl had a lot on her plate and couldn't waste time arguing with Oscar.

Moreover, he seemed quite annoyed with her.

Oscar noticed Pearl's aloof demeanor, which only served to infuriate him further. She seemed so distant now.

"Uncle, Uncle!"

Suddenly, Pearl saw a bunch of kids running towards them.

They sprinted swiftly, unconcerned about tripping.

Pearl knew they were calling out to Oscar.

She couldn't resist turning her head.

The children were leaning against the car window, their eyes filled with curiosity and gratitude, sweetly exclaiming, "Thank you, you're so kind!"

It was the first time Oscar had been this close to kids, and there were a dozen of them around his car.

Oscar wasn't sure if he liked kids or not, but he definitely didn't like being stared at.

Plus, these kids looked dirty and messy.

Oscar's face stayed cold, his whole vibe screaming detachment and rejection.

Pearl figured Oscar probably didn't like being surrounded by so many kids. It was too noisy and messed with his plans.

She assumed he didn't like kids either.

After all, she had never seen Oscar being gentle with anyone's kids.

Pearl worried the kids might annoy Oscar, and then the supplies would be taken back, which would be a loss. She walked over, planning to take them away.

"Uncle, did you call for those trucks?" A kid leaning against the car asked Oscar innocently.

Oscar stayed silent, clearly not wanting to chat with the kids.

Maybe, to Oscar, a CEO talking to orphans about such trivial stuff was beneath him.

"Why did you all come out? Don't bother this uncle,” Pearl said, trying to get them to go back, worried they might run around outside.

"Pearl, this uncle is a good person. He brought us supplies, so we must thank him!" a little boy said.

"Yes, thank you, Uncle!"

The kids even knew how to bow, doing it several times like they practiced.

Oscar's frown deepened. His eyes finally rested on the kids. In a low voice, he asked, "What did you call me?"

"Uncle!" the kids shouted excitedly in unison.

Oscar's gaze shifted to Pearl. "You call me uncle."

He seemed a bit annoyed with this title.

"Pearl is pretty and gives us candy!" The kids didn't get it; they just wanted to show gratitude to those who were kind to them.

Oscar, with a stern face, said to them, "If you call me Uncle, then you should call her Auntie."

"Why?" They didn't understand, tilting their heads in confusion.

Oscar got out of the car, his tall figure casting a large shadow over them, making the kids look up at him.

"No reason." Oscar's voice was cold and stern, his face serious, which was his usual tone.

But this time, a few kids got scared and started crying.

With a few crying, soon all of them were crying.

Wiping their tears, they said, "Uncle is so scary. Is Uncle a big bad wolf who eats people? I'm so scared!"

Seeing this, Oscar's expression shifted, unsure of what he'd done wrong.

Pearl quickly gathered the kids, comforting them, "Don't be afraid, Uncle's not a big bad wolf. He's a good guy. Didn't he just bring you supplies? Don't be scared. Crying kids aren't cool at all."

They wiped their tears, still sniffling, "We can't cry. We're the bravest kids. We can't cry!"

But when they looked at Oscar, they still pouted, holding back their tears but clearly still scared.

Oscar's gaze fell on Pearl, who treated the kids with such gentleness.

Oscar couldn't help but cough twice and walked closer to the kids.

However, the kids, still shaken, began to hide behind Pearl.

Oscar's face darkened; he hadn't expected these kids to be so easily frightened, seeing him as if he were a monster.

"You all go inside quickly, or the big bad wolf will come in!"

Hearing this, the kids hurriedly ran inside.

Pearl followed behind them.

Oscar watched their backs, feeling something he couldn't quite describe. He simply felt that Pearl interacted with them effortlessly, without the need to be rigid, exuding a special warmth and happiness.

It was as if he saw another side of Pearl, genuinely happy when she smiled.

Oscar couldn't resist glancing at the driver, hesitantly inquiring, "Do I appear very intimidating?"

The driver appeared taken aback and awkwardly responded, "Mr. Brown isn't intimidating. Mr. Brown is my employer; I'm grateful, not frightened."

Oscar couldn't comprehend what had frightened the children.

Oscar proceeded to follow them inside.

"The big bad wolf is here!" a child shouted warily as Oscar walked in.

Nova immediately corrected, "What big bad wolf? This is a good man. He brought you so much food and clothing. You should be thankful!"

"Thank you, Uncle!" the kids obediently said in unison.

Oscar was still dissatisfied with this title.

"Don't call me Uncle!" Oscar corrected them in a low voice.

Nova was also a bit stunned, her gaze shifting to Oscar.

Oscar coaxed, "Haven't you all not had meat for a long time? This time, you can eat a lot of meat!"

"Thank you, Oscar!" the kids immediately shouted.

Oscar's expression softened.

When Pearl saw Oscar interacting with the kids, she felt a sense of joy. When had he become so particular, even a bit childish?

Pearl couldn't help but shake her head.

The kids gathered around the supply truck, eager to see what interesting items were inside.

Nova expressed her gratitude repeatedly, thanking both Pearl and Oscar.

Pearl hadn't expected Oscar to be so generous in his donation, even though these several truckloads were just a drop in the bucket for him, but it was a good deed done without seeking fame or fortune.

Afterward, Pearl was about to leave.

Naturally, Oscar would leave with Pearl.

Nova and the kids came out to see them off.

Pearl said to Nova, "Don't worry, I will report this truthfully so that more people will know. The strength of many is much greater than that of one. These kids will soon have a better life."

"That's wonderful," Nova said. "Thank you, Pearl. You are our benefactor. Mr. Brown, thank you for making the effort to visit. I never imagined that a prominent entrepreneur like you would show concern for our orphanage. On behalf of all the children, thank you!"

Nova was deeply moved. She had sought help everywhere without success, but this time, someone finally heard her voice.
