Chapter 195 She Left Early
Haley smiled again and said, "Actually, it's a secret. Oscar admitted to being married before; he just didn't want to tell everyone who his wife is."
"Do you know who she is?"
Haley replied, "Yes, I know, but Oscar doesn't want me to say. After all, our marriage is not public yet. They've been married for so long, naturally, they don't want everyone to know."
"Alright, I have something to do, so I won't talk to you too much. When I'm available, I'll invite Ms. Johnson for coffee." With that, Haley got into her car.
Aurora stood there, feeling puzzled.
Before getting into the car, Haley glanced at Aurora with a cold smile.
"Haley, why don't you claim Mr. Brown in public? That way, other women will give up!" Her assistant Mae couldn't understand why she acted this way.
In the past, Haley would never have spoken like she did today.
But Haley noticed that Aurora was interested about Oscar, which made things different.
Since Aurora had said she and Oscar were from the same school but hadn't spent much time there, yet had such a deep impression of Oscar, something must have happened.
"Aurora hasn't watched my TV shows," Haley said.
Mae was surprised. "How do you know?"
Haley's lips curved slightly as she played with her fingers. "I saw her phone screen searching for my shows. She is obviously prepared. She's not my fan at all, yet she talks to me and is very curious about my relationship with Oscar. She's not simple. I don't want to cause trouble. If I'm not mistaken, she might be able to help me."
Mae still didn't understand. After thinking for a while, she suddenly got it. "Haley, you're so smart!"
Aurora couldn't stay calm, and she kept thinking, 'Oscar was married. How could this be!'
Aurora clenched her fists tightly, feeling very oppressed, her eyes looking terrifying.
Had Oscar forgotten their agreement?
Aurora had said that when she grew up, she would marry Oscar. Oscar had agreed. He wasn't supposed to get married!
Who was Oscar's wife?
Haley's answer was vague; she didn't say who was his wife. But Haley mentioned someone who had been with him for a long time.
Who had been living with Oscar for a long time?
Aurora suddenly realized Pearl, who had been by Oscar's side for a long time.
She had made it clear.
A sinister look appeared in Aurora's eyes.
"Aurora," Grace said. Seeing that Aurora was furious, Grace was scared. "Are you okay?"
Aurora quickly concealed her emotions and said kindly, "I'm fine. Didn't we plan to go shopping? Let's get in the car. I bought you that limited edition bag."
"Really?" Grace, who had been scared, immediately became excited upon hearing about the bag. "Aurora, you're so good to me! I really like you!"
Aurora smiled and said, "Everything is fine as long as you like it."
Grace was immediately won over, hugging her tightly. "Aurora, you're my best friend."
Aurora smiled, but her eyes were cold.
Oscar deliberately left the office ten minutes early to go on a date with Pearl.
He had been thinking carefully about the distance between him and Pearl these past two days.
He even searched for videos online about how to maintain a marriage.
Pearl wanted a divorce, possibly because their marriage had started without love, or she couldn't feel the affection of a normal couple in this marriage.
Oscar could understand.
After all, he was busy with work. In the three years since they got married, he had never taken her to a restaurant for a meal, nor had he ever carefully prepared a gift for her.
Pearl didn't feel like she was part of Oscar's life, couldn't experience the happiness of being Mrs. Brown, and naturally wanted to be apart from him.
If he could make her feel the happiness of being in love, she probably wouldn't want to leave him.
Oscar was still a bit excited. In all these years, he had never prepared a gift to please a woman and was very curious to see Pearl's reaction.
When he arrived, he found that Pearl's desk was already empty. He saw that the computer was off. Then he looked at Queenie, who was walking by, and asked coldly, "Where is Pearl?"
Queenie, holding a stack of documents, replied, "Pearl left ten minutes ago. She said she had an appointment with a friend for dinner."
Oscar's face instantly darkened.
'An appointment for dinner? With whom? Male or female?'
Hadn't Oscar said that he would have dinner with Pearl tonight?
Was Pearl rejecting him?
Oscar was very displeased, his deep eyes becoming extremely dark.
Queenie, seeing Oscar's gradually darkening expression, felt a bit scared and didn't know why he was suddenly unhappy.
She quickly added, "Mr. Brown, when Pearl made the call, I heard a woman's voice."
Oscar's handsome face remained cold as he strode out.
Harold was waiting downstairs.
They had prepared for this dinner.
As soon as Harold saw Oscar come out without Pearl, he quickly handed the flowers and smiled. "Mr. Brown, your flowers. I suppose Mrs. Brown is getting ready for dinner with you."
The flowers were handed to Oscar, and just as Harold finished speaking, he was met with Oscar's sharp gaze.
Harold's smile stiffened. He didn't know what he had done wrong, but Oscar's displeasure was likely related to Pearl. "Mr. Brown, did Mrs. Brown leave early?"
Harold hoped he was overthinking it.
Oscar pursed his lips, suppressing his anger, and said sternly, "Get in the car!"
"Yes!" Harold thought that today their marital relationship might improve significantly, but he was wrong. Holding onto the flowers felt awkward, and throwing them away didn't seem right either.
Harold quickly got into the car.
Oscar then said, "Wait!"
Harold stopped and looked at him. "Mr. Brown."
"Give me the flowers!" Oscar said coldly.
Harold handed the flowers to him again.
These were freshly picked roses delivered by plane, showing that Oscar had put thought into it.
Oscar held the flowers in his hand, feeling unhappy but saying nothing.
He feared that he might provoke him!
Harold felt a bit awkward. Although he was driving, the rearview mirror showed Oscar's cold face, making him drive with trepidation, because he was afraid of losing his bonus at any moment.
At this moment, Pearl was with Janetta.
They were sitting in a Mexican restaurant downstairs from Janetta's place.
"Did you bring it?" Pearl asked.
Janetta held a package. "I brought it. I haven't opened it yet."
Pearl opened the package, revealing the parenting books she had bought.
Pearl gently touched the baby on the cover, her lips slightly curving into a smile, wondering if her baby would be as cute when born.
Seeing her smile so happily, Janetta said, "Now that you're pregnant, you've become more gentle. I've heard that giving birth is very painful. You need to be mentally prepared."
Janetta was quite worried.
Giving birth was also a suffering.
Pearl told her, "When you have a baby, you won't think like that. Before I got pregnant, I was also afraid of pain. But this is my kid, and I'll forget about the pain."
"I don't want to get pregnant," Janetta said, finding the idea terrifying. "I'm not going to date for the rest of my life."
Pearl looked at Janetta and laughed. "I see you haven't been avoiding them."
Janetta lightly hit her. "Don't make fun of me!"
"I know they aren't true love, but one day you'll find someone you don't want to give up on. I'll wait for that day."
"Pearl, stop it."
Janetta had dated many men, but talking about it seriously still made her blush and feel embarrassed. She started playfully fighting with Pearl.
The two of them were talking happily.
Just then, the sound of footsteps approached.
Pearl pinned Janetta on the booth sofa, both laughing happily. But when Pearl turned, she saw a tall figure standing there, staring at her.
Pearl's face instantly turned pale.
