Chapter 444 What Happens After I Find the Person?
Oscar just held her tight, letting his actions do the talking.
He was mad when he heard she was looking for Adrian in prison, but then he realized Adrian came for her. It made sense Pearl wanted to find him.
With Pearl safe in his arms now, nothing else mattered.
Pearl leaned against his chest. They might not be together forever, but for now, they had each other.
Meanwhile, Louis was about to go find RavenWing when Giovanni showed up. "Mr. Mitchell," he nodded.
"How's Pearl?" Louis asked right away, making Giovanni think he really cared about her.
Giovanni answered, "I followed your orders. She's looking for someone in the slave camp. Also, a new slave arrived, and I feel..."
He thought, 'That isn't a slave but an undercover agent. No ordinary person has such guts.'
But before he could finish, Louis cut him off, "I know. No need to tell me."
The only person who'd sneak in for Pearl had to be Oscar.
From the moment he saw Pearl wearing that cross bracelet, he had looked into her. He knew about Oscar, Jeffery, and even Barbara, who had been separated from Pearl.
"Yes," Giovanni said, still confused.
'What is Louis up to? Is he going to watch Pearl and the guy calling himself Lorenzo?'
He didn't dare ask about Louis's plans, just speculated.
Louis waved him off. "You can go now. Just follow my instructions."
"Yes," Giovanni said, not daring to say more.
After Giovanni left, Louis went to RavenWing's place, a separate castle. He brushed past Matteo at the door.
He found RavenWing arranging flowers.
RavenWing didn't do experiments or harm others; he mostly tended to his garden.
"RavenWing, you wanted to see me," Louis said, stopping a short distance away and bowing his head.
RavenWing didn't look at him, focusing on trimming the roses.
A few seconds later, he asked, "Do you think this flower arrangement looks good?"
Red, white, and pink roses intertwined, about to bloom.
"It's alright," Louis replied, somewhat dismissively.
RavenWing laughed. "Don't be so indifferent. Everyone has the right to preserve beautiful things. Kevin went through a lot to find Carol. Why do you protect Pearl instead of being close to your only sister? How did you meet Pearl?"
With that, RavenWing threw down the scissors and spread his arms on the sofa.
Even with the mask hiding his features, Louis knew his face was cold, his eyes contemptuous, and his mouth had a mocking smile.
"I met her while protecting the village. I wouldn't say I was protecting her; I just have things to figure out, and she can't die yet."
That was Louis's stance.
The vase of flowers in front of RavenWing shattered at Louis's feet.
"Why are you saying so much? Can you really say you have no other feelings for her?" RavenWing snapped. He was always strict with Louis, unlike his gentle demeanor with Carol, making him seem like a different person.
Even with Pearl, he was kinder than he was now.
"No," Louis denied instinctively.
A cold smile crossed RavenWing's lips. "Then bring her to me."
"Yes."
The most dangerous place is the safest. Bringing her to RavenWing would at least keep Carol from harming her.
Meanwhile, Kevin approached Carol.
"Kevin, why are you here?" Carol greeted him instinctively.
"I came to check on you," Kevin said, hands hidden behind his back.
Carol was living better than he had imagined.
Kevin wasn't satisfied. "I don't want you to be like a flower in a greenhouse."
"I know," Carol replied simply.
Kevin didn't stay long. After he left, Carol thought of Barbara, who was suffering day and night.
"Jorge, how is Barbara in the secret room?" Carol called out.
Jorge nodded respectfully. "Ms. Mitchell, Barbara is still the same."
"Then she's useless. Erase her memory and throw her into the slave camp," Carol ordered, a sharp glint in her eyes.
"Yes," Jorge nodded and followed her instructions.
Although Carol wasn't restricted, Pearl now had Louis's protection and special privileges, so she couldn't confront Pearl directly.
But she still had ways to make Pearl suffer.
Meanwhile, Oscar had locked the door, but Pearl, on edge, didn't dare to relax in his arms.
She quickly sat up. "Get up. I have a feeling they'll send someone soon."
Oscar let go of Pearl.
Just as Pearl predicted, footsteps approached.
Locking the door was useless; Louis opened it from the outside.
Pearl saw Louis standing at the door.
Louis, in a white shirt, looked completely out of place in the slave camp.
His gaze fell on her, and he walked over quickly. "I heard from Giovanni you were looking for someone. Did you find them?"
Louis's eyes were only on Pearl.
Pearl shook her head, feeling nervous.
She believed Louis noticed Oscar beside her, but he didn't ask. The more she tried to understand Louis, the more enigmatic he became.
Pearl had to respond. She said hoarsely, "I haven't found them. I plan to continue searching tomorrow."
"And what will you do once you find them?" Louis asked, sounding like a friend.
Pearl bit her lip and said softly, "No one wants to stay in a place like this."
That was the truth.
Pearl secretly gestured to Oscar, signaling him to stay quiet.
Louis suddenly smiled. "I can arrange for you to be moved to a different place. Of course, your movements will still be restricted. Giovanni will continue helping you search tomorrow."
Pearl didn't respond. She couldn't believe these words. Louis was RavenWing's son.
'RavenWing is evil incarnate. How can Louis be different?'
Pearl looked at him. "And what happens after I find them?"
