Chapter 500 Threat
This was really Oscar!
Even though Pearl had been mad before, she loved Oscar deeply. She could never ask him to die to make up for his mistakes.
Plus, his crew had explained everything to her.
Oscar himself had explained too, and she could understand his situation.
She felt bad for him.
Pearl hugged Oscar tighter. "Oscar, I get your situation. Honestly, I'm grateful to Charles for saving you."
If it weren't for Charles, Oscar might've died in that cold river.
She wouldn't have seen Oscar again, let alone hug him like this.
Plus, his dad was the President.
Their statuses were different, especially now that she's known as the "Daughter of the Devil" from RavenWing.
"Oscar, can I take Christopher back to Willow Creek?" Pearl didn't want to dwell on their issues. Thinking about them gave her a headache and made her feel awful.
Since Christopher was her kid, she wanted to take him out of the war zone to Willow Creek, where he could have peace and a good education.
Oscar didn't respond, but Pearl could feel him holding her tighter.
She knew Oscar was reluctant.
She didn't push, wanting to know his thoughts.
Before Oscar could say anything, Leroy announced from outside, "Mr. Stewart, Mr. Charles Stewart is here! He wants you to bring that woman out with you!"
Charles knew Pearl's name but addressed her as "that woman" to insult her.
Pearl wasn't mad.
As a mom, she could understand other parents, but she couldn't accept RavenWing.
Oscar pulled Pearl out of his embrace and said, "Wait here for me. I'll be right back."
But Pearl grabbed his hand firmly, looking determined. "I'm going with you."
Oscar knew once Pearl made up her mind, she wouldn't change it easily.
He leaned in and whispered, "He doesn't know Christopher is with you."
"I understand."
She knew Oscar didn't want her to mention the child.
Soon, Pearl followed Oscar to meet Charles.
Charles had gray hair at his temples, but it didn't take away from his presence. His gaze and demeanor were still sharp and imposing.
"Oscar, are you coming with me willingly, or do I have to force you?" Charles stood with his hands behind his back, his voice cold and heavy.
It seemed like he was giving Oscar a choice, but it was really a threat.
If Oscar didn't go, Pearl would die.
But with Oscar by Pearl's side, how could he let her go?
"If you promise to make peace with Tranquiloria and avoid starting a war, I can help you."
"This is none of your business," Charles interrupted angrily before Oscar could finish.
His face was dark, and his eyes were fierce.
When Oscar was lost, Charles thought he was dead. He didn't expect to find him later and hoped to train him well.
After more than three years in a coma, if Oscar had woken up a few days later, Charles would have had him thrown into the sea to feed the sharks!
Now, Oscar was here trying to negotiate with him?
Charles didn't let anyone meddle in his affairs.
Oscar's expression was just as grim. He pulled Pearl behind him. "If you don't want to listen, then handle your own affairs. Don't drag others into it."
It meant he could disown Charles as his father.
And all of this was because of Oscar's stance, especially because of Pearl.
Charles pulled out a handgun and cocked the trigger. Oscar shielded Pearl, ready to face death.
Charles was ruthless, but now that Oscar had recovered and was his most valued child, he couldn't just kill him.
"It seems you're determined to be with her, even if it means death. Fine, if she wants to be your wife, she must fulfill the duties of a wife. Being the daughter-in-law of the President is no easy task!" Charles glanced at Pearl, his lips curling coldly.
Pearl loved Oscar and naturally wanted to be with him, but she only wanted to be Oscar's wife, not the daughter-in-law of the President.
She spoke softly, "I never wanted to be the daughter-in-law of the President."
"I don't want to inherit your position either," Oscar added.
Hearing Oscar's words and seeing his cold expression, Charles was furious. "Are you both declaring your stance to me now? Do you expect me to be your witness?"
To Oscar, he had made it clear to Charles long ago that their stances were different and they couldn't be on the same path.
At that time, he hadn't seen Pearl yet, and Pearl didn't know he was alive. Charles also thought he would forget Pearl and, with time, accept everything Charles had arranged.
But now, everything was beyond his control.
Charles certainly wouldn't allow them to be together, nor would he be their witness.
He waved his hand and said, "Take them back to Serenea! Separate them and imprison them!"
"Who dares!" Oscar gritted his teeth, his eyes red, his face dark. He was now furious.
He wouldn't let anyone harm Pearl.
With a single look from Charles, someone moved behind Oscar and Pearl. When they tried to act, Oscar and Pearl quickly fought back.
For Pearl, Oscar took the initiative to attack Charles.
But Charles stepped back, grabbed Pearl's wrist, and as he was about to throw her to the ground, Oscar quickly wrapped his arm around her waist.
Oscar pulled Pearl behind him to protect her. "Even if I die today, I won't go back to Serenea with you, and don't even think about harming my wife!"
Pearl's eyes were filled with determination.
Charles's face darkened. "Don't forget who saved you. And there's someone Pearl doesn't know. Oscar, don't you want to see him?"
Charles was referring to Christopher, thinking Pearl didn't know, but Pearl had long known.
Now, Pearl didn't want to argue with Charles. She could only bluff, "Don't forget, I'm a war correspondent. I've got an implanted chip. If anything happens to me, you'll be in serious trouble!"
