Chapter 111 Rescue

Upon hearing this, Arthur was somewhat convinced.

This person he met by chance must have had ulterior motives to approach him.

After all, Pearl was his niece.

Arthur was forced into a corner, also worrying that others might scheme against him.

His gaze involuntarily turned toward the woman.

The woman became a bit anxious and furious. "Pearl is sowing discord. If it weren't for my advice, would Pearl willingly give you the money? We need to cooperate with each other!"

Regardless of what it was, Arthur was very clear about his own intentions. He looked at Pearl. "Pearl, give me the password, and I promise she won't harm you."

Pearl dared not trust him so rashly.

Just as she hesitated, a car could be heard approaching outside.

This made Arthur panic.

He grabbed Pearl, holding a knife against her neck, nervously saying, "Someone's outside!"

Pearl looked at the knife, not daring to breathe.

The woman also realized that something was wrong. "Pearl is deliberately stalling for time. She wants to tell you she has set a trap for you!"

"Pearl, you're stabbing me in the back!" Arthur, with no turning back, gritted his teeth.

Pearl had no idea someone would come.

She felt like she couldn't survive.

Blood was drawn on Pearl's neck by the knife, her heart beating rapidly. "I didn't, Arthur. You tied me up. I haven't contacted anyone during that time. I just want to live. I can give you all the money. I can give you the password now. Please put down the knife."

"If you do, Oscar won't let you off!" the woman said.

Two voices spoke in Arthur's ear; he didn't know whom to listen to and felt confused.

But he also knew that Pearl was the best hostage at the moment.

Bang—

The door was kicked open with a loud noise.

Now, he could only rely on luck.

Arthur said, "Pearl, tell me the password now. Tell them to back off, and I'll let you go!"

Pearl's heart was pounding. She saw someone walking in from outside.

The room was dim. The door kicked open, and sunlight streaming in—a bit dazzling but also welcome.

Pearl squinted. She could see the tall figure steadily moving forward without hesitation.

"Arthur, let her go!" Oscar's indifferent voice rang out.

Pearl breathed heavily, feeling very uncomfortable, but she was holding on.

She looked at Oscar, never expecting him to save her at a critical moment. His face did not look  good and he was still injured. He had come so far to save her. She felt like a burden.

If only she had been more cautious.

If only she had thought worse of Arthur, this wouldn't have happened.

Arthur's forehead was sweating, his hands trembling, as he was doing this for the first time. "Don't come closer!"

Oscar's gaze was fixed on the sharp knife in Arthur's hand, and he tried to keep his tone calm. "What do you want? I can give you anything as long as you let Pearl go!"

Arthur, nervous and excited, shouted, "I want money, I want money!"

"Money is easy!" Luckily, Arthur only wanted money, not Pearl's life. Oscar quickly replied, "How much money do you want? I'll transfer it to your account immediately!"

"I want ten million dollars!" Arthur's eyes were bloodshot, showing his greed and mercenary nature. "Ten million dollars will do, and you can't call the police!"

"Fine, give me your account number!" Oscar said coldly, without hesitation.

Pearl stared at Oscar, surprised at how easily he would give up money in exchange for her life.

Indeed.

He could put thirty million dollars into her account. Why would he hesitate over a mere ten million?

Pearl lowered her eyes, feeling bitter inside. Oscar was good, truly good.

But every time Oscar was good, it felt like a shot to her heart, making her reluctant and in pain.

Arthur laughed, immediately giving out his account number.

Oscar took out his phone and made a call. "Transfer ten million dollars to this account immediately!"

The woman hiding in the background panicked.

No, absolutely not!

She had to make Pearl disappear completely!

Ding.

Arthur's phone received a message.

He opened it.

The bank had sent him a message.

Looking at his account, he saw a few zeros.

Ten million!

Indeed, ten million dollars!

Arthur had never seen so much money in his life.

Excited and happy, he put away his phone. "How can I be sure that after I release Pearl, you'll let me go?"

Oscar said, "There's a car here. You can drive away; I won't stop you!"

"Then let me go."

Arthur saw many cars outside. As long as he walked out, he would be completely safe. He could take this money and disappear. He could take his wife and children abroad and start anew where no one knew them.

Everything would be better.

The woman, seeing this, felt a coldness in her heart. She couldn't stay here. Luckily, she had prepared Plan B for herself, fearing exposure and trouble.

There was a back door. Taking advantage of everyone's attention on Arthur, she slipped away quietly.

Arthur took Pearl outside.

Oscar followed, his palms sweating as he saw the blood on Pearl's neck.

Oscar was afraid of saying the wrong thing and causing Pearl more serious harm.

He couldn't afford that risk.

Arthur took Pearl to the car. Although he had been a bit harsh on Pearl, in the end, neither he nor Pearl suffered any losses.

He wouldn't harm her, nor make a big mistake.

Arthur looked at Pearl and sighed, "Pearl, I'm sorry for this. I was forced into this. If you had given me the money, none of this would have happened. Now that I have the money, I won't harm you. I'll let you go as long as you cooperate and let me leave this place peacefully.

"With this money, our family will never seek your and Evans' help again."

Arthur understood in his heart that his selfishness was absurd and that it was causing harm to his loved ones. "These years, I have indeed caused a lot of trouble for Evans. I won't do it anymore. I will take them abroad to live. You can go back and tell Evans, just pretend I never existed!"

Listening, for some reason, Pearl felt a bit sour inside.

Pearl had heard from Evans that he and Arthur had grown up together as close brothers.

She didn't know when their relationship had changed. Out of consideration for Evans, Pearl still held onto the last bit of kindness toward Arthur.

After speaking, Arthur pushed Pearl away and quickly got into the car.

Pearl was pushed to the ground. Oscar caught her steadily.

"Are you okay?" Oscar asked.

Pearl didn't want Oscar to stand too much, so she held herself up, not putting too much weight on him.

She was afraid Oscar would get hurt for her again.

Oscar held her neck, checking her wound. "Luckily, your wound isn't deep. We'll go to the hospital later. As for..."

Before he could finish his sentence.

A loud noise rang out.

Bang—

Pearl's heart skipped a beat, turning to see flames erupting in front of her!
