Chapter 463 Hidden Depths
The person in front of them was Louis, who everyone thought was poisoned and out cold.
Jeffery instinctively shielded Pearl. "I'm getting her out of here."
Louis didn't say a word. With a gesture, Giovanni and his men surrounded them.
They were taken to another safe spot.
As soon as they arrived, someone reported, "Mr. Mitchell, Kevin has rebelled!"
Louis smirked. Kevin's rebellion was bound to happen, and Jeffery's escape with Pearl sped it up.
"The Eldorians' issues aren't our problem. You don't want to keep Carol here, do you?" Jeffery grabbed Pearl's hand, looking serious.
Louis stayed silent. He told Giovanni and the others, "Everyone, defend!"
"Mr. Mitchell, Kevin's swayed most of the clan. We don't have many left," a subordinate said, head down.
Louis's face darkened. "Take Pearl and go. Get her to Oscar!"
"Yes." Giovanni, Louis's trusted confidant, understood Louis's plan.
Louis wanted to stay and fight. As an Eldorian and RavenWing's son, he had responsibilities.
When Jeffery called Pearl "Carol," everything clicked.
Carol was in a slave camp as a kid. Jeffery, her father's best creation, had ties with her in a lab.
Those DNA test reports meant nothing compared to Jeffery's words now.
This might be Louis and Pearl's last meeting.
Louis reached out to touch Pearl's face but pulled back.
He didn't dare.
Pearl's breathing was heavy, and she instinctively avoided him.
She had thought of many possibilities about her connection with the Eldorians, but never imagined she was RavenWing's daughter!
In school, she envied classmates with siblings and felt lonely.
She dreamed of having a brother, and now she had one, but she didn't know why she felt sad.
"None of you will escape!"
Kevin's voice got closer, and soon, he and his men surrounded them.
Seeing Kevin, Pearl and Jeffery's faces turned grim. Kevin had tormented them a lot recently.
Louis stood in front of them. "Kevin, do you really think you can be the king of the Eldorians?"
For the Eldorians and for Pearl, Louis wouldn't back down.
Kevin laughed. "Louis, can't you see the people behind me? They all follow me. RavenWing's era is over, and I have him. If you don't want him dead, you'd better surrender."
As soon as he finished, a loud explosion went off. A bomb exploded overhead, creating a burst of flames. The massive heatwave knocked everyone off their feet.
Both Jeffery and Louis moved to protect Pearl, but Louis was quicker. He shielded her with his body, and when he felt it was safe, he got up, though his head was spinning.
Pearl saw blood trickling down Louis's face. Her eyes widened in shock, and she wanted to speak, but it felt like she was being choked.
Before she could say anything, Louis pushed her away. "Go find Oscar! Don't come back!"
Pearl stumbled, almost falling, but Jeffery caught her.
She barely had time to react before gunfire erupted.
Jeffery dragged her forward.
Louis was trapped by Kevin's men. Giovanni, fighting desperately, had to stop.
Kevin's face was dirty, but his smile showed his confidence.
"Louis, I never thought you'd be so cunning. I really thought you were poisoned. I underestimated you."
He had planned to act at the banquet, but Jeffery's escape with Pearl forced his hand early.
But it let him see Louis's tactics.
Louis sneered.
As Kevin approached, Louis struck quickly. Kevin's men reacted, but Kevin stopped them.
Kevin and Louis started fighting.
Kevin smirked. "Mr. Mitchell, you're full of surprises. If it weren't for Jeffery and Pearl, I wouldn't have known you had these skills."
Louis's martial arts were impressive, but Kevin had RavenWing as a hostage and guns.
Giovanni was now subdued by Kevin's men. Kevin fought Louis, but just to toy with him.
As Louis's fist came towards Kevin, Kevin pulled out a gun and aimed at Louis's head.
Louis showed no fear. Kevin wouldn't kill him.
Kevin fired two shots, one at Louis's shoulder and one at his foot. Giovanni screamed, trying to rush over.
But Kevin didn't give Giovanni the chance. He shot at Giovanni.
"Kevin! Don't kill innocent people!" Louis gritted his teeth, seething with anger.
Giovanni was like family to Louis, and he wouldn't let him be harmed.
Kevin's smile was mocking. "I won't kill him if he works for me. Giovanni, you have potential. Serve me, and I'll let you live."
"Don't even think about it!" Giovanni's eyes were narrow but proud.
Since Louis spoke up for Giovanni, Kevin wouldn't kill him. Although Louis was shot twice, it didn't matter to him.
Louis stood in front of Giovanni, fierce. "Kevin, don't push me!"
Kevin's smile deepened. "Louis, you're my defeated opponent now."
