Chapter 581 Taken Christopher Away

Pearl didn't want to argue with Cadence and nodded in agreement.

The director called for a gathering, and Pearl pulled Christopher towards the gathering spot, not wanting to be stopped by Cadence.

Cadence yanked Pearl away and took Christopher's hand herself. When Christopher tried to pull away, she grabbed him again and held on tightly, not letting him go.

Christopher's eyes welled up with tears from the pain, and Pearl quickly pushed Cadence away, questioning her loudly, "Are you hurting Christopher on purpose?"

Cadence looked aggrieved, saying, "You misunderstood. I just wanted to get closer to Christopher, I didn't think it through."

She then squatted down and said to Christopher, "Sorry, Christopher, did I hurt you? It's my fault. I'll be more careful next time and make sure not to hurt you again."

Pearl didn't give her another chance and carried Christopher over to the director.

This time, the crew was more organized, with people in various positions, so there were quite a few people around. Cadence came over to Pearl's side.

Cadence didn't want to make a big deal out of it, and Pearl didn't say anything more.

The ceremony was simple, and Christopher, being a child, was arranged to watch under a nearby sunshade. Cadence stood by and took over Pearl's tasks.

She was very diligent and attentive, handing out fruit and water.

If it weren't for Cheryl's reminder, Pearl might have thought she had misunderstood Cadence from the start.

After the opening ceremony, the director came over and handed Pearl some documents, saying, "The investors said only one person can accompany Christopher. You need to decide whether it's you or Cadence."

"Of course, it's me. Christopher has never lived with anyone else. It's more appropriate for him to be with me." There was no hesitation in this decision, and Pearl made it on the spot.

The director had no objections and left after noting it down.

Shortly after, Cadence stormed over, yanked Pearl from her break, and demanded, "Why didn't you inform me when the director asked about the one person to accompany the artist on the variety show? it's usually the manager."

"You said it yourself, it's usually the manager. But you're not Christopher's manager, are you? Since you're not, it doesn't matter who it is, right?" Pearl continued, "I know what you're trying to say, but Cadence, you're just a temporary manager. You should know what to handle and what not to."

Cadence's face turned grim. She opened her mouth several times but said nothing and left quietly.

Christopher watched all this and remembered what RavenWing had said. While Pearl was negotiating with the director, he smiled and walked over to Cadence.

"Here you go." He handed Cadence a hot dog.

"Why are you giving me a hot dog? Thank you." Cadence took a small bite, looked around, and seeing no one was paying attention, she pulled Christopher and walked out of the set.

Christopher was puzzled, asking, "Where are you taking me?"

"A place to have fun. Christopher. Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you." Cadence put Christopher in the car and drove off, speeding all the way to an underground parking lot in a residential area.

Christopher didn't cry or make a fuss. He quietly waited for Cadence to open the car door. But Cadence got out and answered a phone call, not opening the door for him.

Christopher carefully opened the car door and got out, hearing Cadence explain, "See, nothing happened. I just took Christopher out to play. Kids get bored staying in one place all the time. Don't worry, I'll bring him back later."

Christopher realized that Cadence had taken him to this unfamiliar place without telling Pearl. He knew he had to contact Pearl as soon as possible.

He looked around and ran towards a nearby elevator without thinking.

Cadence was busy explaining to Pearl and didn't notice that Christopher had already entered the elevator. By the time she realized, he was long gone.

Christopher followed a group of people to a house deep inside the residential area. He saw them leave through the back door and followed them outside. On the busy street, Christopher didn't know what to do.

At that moment, a woman came over and hugged him, shouting, "Baby, Mommy finally found you."

"Let go of me, I'm not your son. I want to find my mom," Christopher cried out in fear.

He wasn't scared when Cadence took him away, but now, being held by this strange woman, he was terrified.

Fear enveloped him, and he didn't know what to do except scream and shout.

The child's cries attracted the attention of passersby. A few elderly people came over to ask what was going on, and Christopher immediately told them, "I don't know her. I'm not her son. Please help me."

"He's my son!" The woman laughed maniacally, not letting anyone touch Christopher.

Pearl received a call about Christopher's disappearance and rushed over, just in time to see this scene. Her legs went weak with fear.

She immediately warned the company, "If Cadence continues to be Christopher's manager, we'll see you in court."

Getting out of the car, she ignored the woman's resistance and took Christopher back, calming him down. She saw the woman squatting on the ground, staring blankly at the sky, and felt a bit of pity.

At this moment, Oscar's bodyguards arrived.

Pearl instructed the bodyguards to take the woman to the hospital and investigate her situation to handle it properly.

This act earned the praise of the onlookers. Someone recognized Christopher and asked, "Is this the child from the recent children's shampoo commercial?"

"Yes, his name is Christopher." Pearl was pleased that Christopher was recognized in a different way.

Others remembered the commercial and praised, "With the right coaching, Christopher's gonna be a star for sure."

"Yes, I read the report at the time. It said that many of the shots were done in one take. Christopher will definitely be a shining star."

Pearl was genuinely happy with the praise from the onlookers and said with a smile, "Thank you for your recognition. Your support means the world to Christopher. Now, Christopher is scared, and I need to take him away. Sorry, we'll repay you with more works in the future."

Christopher was still trembling when he got in the car, clearly very frightened.

Pearl kept comforting him softly. As they passed the entrance of the residential area, she saw Cadence standing by the roadside. Pearl didn't stop or greet her. She believed the company would notify Cadence. Pearl didn't want any further interaction with this woman.

However, things often didn't go as planned. That evening, Pearl received a call from the company, saying that Cadence intended to come over and apologize.

She didn't understand what the company meant by this decision, nor why Cadence chose to apologize in person. Was it just to show more sincerity?

Pearl told Oscar about it to seek his opinion.

Oscar was decisive, saying, "Such a big incident can't be resolved with just an apology. This time it was a mentally unstable woman. What if it was a real kidnapper next time?"
