Chapter 699 Dispute
Harold wasn't mad about what Desiree said.
He just felt even guiltier. "I'm really sorry, Desiree."
"No need for that. I don't need your apology, and you don't need to waste your time on me. It's our turn now. Once we get the divorce decree, you can be with Miss Porter openly." Desiree stood up.
They walked over to the registration desk together and told the staff, "Hey, we're here to file for divorce."
"Do both of you want a divorce?" the staff asked, like they always did.
Desiree nodded.
Harold didn't say anything, but his face showed he didn't want the divorce.
The staff noticed one of them was hesitant and tried to persuade them, "It's normal for couples to have conflicts and arguments. Don't get divorced easily. I've seen many people regret it and come back to remarry."
"We've already decided. Please help us with the paperwork," Desiree cut in.
Her firm tone left the staff no choice but to proceed with the process.
Once it was done, Desiree thanked the staff and walked out.
At the door, she saw Daryl holding a bouquet of red roses.
Pearl, who was following her, was stunned and glanced at Harold, sighing inwardly.
She thought, 'With things already so bad between them, it's going to be hard for Harold to win Desiree back. And now there's another rival, making it even more difficult!'
"Desiree, I came to pick you up. Congrats on your new beginning." Daryl walked up to her and handed her the flowers.
Desiree didn't know whether to take them or not.
She felt really helpless. "Daryl, what are you doing? Take the flowers and leave, it's not appropriate."
This was right at the courthouse entrance. She had just divorced Harold and was now getting roses from another guy, which looked odd.
"Desiree, I want Harold to know that you're amazing, and losing you is his mistake. If he doesn't cherish you, someone else will," Daryl whispered in her ear.
At the same time, he didn't forget to throw a provocative glance at Harold.
Harold silently clenched his fists.
He wasn't dumb; he could see Daryl's intentions, including the incident in the parking lot, which was likely orchestrated by him.
If Desiree found a man who truly loved her and had good character, Harold might be able to convince himself to let go.
Even though he loved her, he wanted her to be happy more.
But what was Daryl?
He only had money and looks, his character was bad, willing to do anything to get what he wanted.
Now he just wanted Desiree and would stop at nothing, but if he ever got tired of her, who knows what he'd do.Harold couldn't just stand by and watch Desiree get played by Daryl.
"Desiree, don't take his roses," he finally blurted out.
"Harold," Desiree turned to him. "In what capacity are you saying this?"
Before Harold could respond, Isolde, who had just rushed over from a taxi, chimed in, "Of course, as your ex-husband."
"Isolde, who told you to come here?" Harold's eyes flared with anger.
Why did she have to show up and stir the pot again?
He pushed her away roughly. "This is none of your business, get out."
"Harold! Come on, she and this guy didn't just meet today. They were involved even before you two decided to divorce. Can't you see that?" Isolde cried out, making a scene.
She wasn't just crying for Harold but also for the entertainment reporters nearby.
Ember had sent her to cause trouble.
But what good would it do?
Harold wouldn't fall for it. Even if she made a huge scene at the courthouse, his heart was only for Desiree.
If she was going to cause trouble, she might as well make it big. She had notified the media beforehand. Which media outlet wouldn't love gossip about the Sandvik Family's daughter?
"Isolde!" Harold was furious.
He couldn't stand seeing his beloved Desiree being slandered.
He wanted to drive Isolde away, but Desiree couldn't watch anymore. "Enough, you two stop this act, it's really pointless."
"Harold, losing a woman as good as Desiree is your loss. People need to recognize their place. From the start, you were never good enough for her. I'm glad she finally realized that." Daryl took the opportunity to wrap his arm around Desiree's waist.
Harold stared intently at the hand on Desiree's waist.
"Miss Sandvik, are you just going to let your lover insult your ex-husband?" Isolde raised her voice again, secretly pleased.
She thought, 'Just wait, once this hits the headlines, Desiree will be vilified by netizens, and it might even affect the Sandvik Family's stock value. By then, she will surely hate Harold. So, they will never be together again.'
Pearl couldn't stand it anymore and wanted to speak up for Desiree, but Desiree gave her a look and shook her head. "Forget it, you go back and take care of Emily."
"What about you?" Pearl asked.
"Someone's here to pick me up, I want to go for a walk," Desiree mentioned Daryl to reassure her.
Pearl still didn't fully understand the conflict between her and Harold.
Given the chaos today and the public setting, she didn't say more and left after a brief farewell.
Desiree also walked with Daryl towards the parking lot.
