Chapter 326 He Went to a Dangerous Place

Adrian smiled at Pearl. "Maybe it's just faith."

"Do you really have to go?" Pearl asked, still worried.

"I have to. Don't worry, I'll be back safe," Adrian reassured her.

She rarely heard him talk like this.

'It's dangerous, so why is he risking it?' she thought.

Pearl looked grim, not wanting him to take the risk.

"Can I hug you?" Adrian asked. "We might not see each other for a while."

Why not? Pearl looked at him and opened her arms like an old friend.

Adrian hugged her gently and patted her shoulder. "I'll be fine."

"You said it's dangerous, so I'll still worry," Pearl replied.

"Just hearing that is enough," Adrian said, smiling. "This trip is worth it."

After a while, they separated.

Adrian waved like always, but to Pearl, it felt like a final goodbye.

"Adrian!" Pearl called out before he left.

Adrian rolled down the car window and looked at her.

"Come back soon!" she urged.

Adrian nodded and drove away.

Pearl felt uneasy, her heart heavy.

After standing outside for a long time, she went back inside.

In the following days, Pearl focused on filming.

Their show wasn't popular and didn't follow trends, so it rarely made the news, while Haley's show was a different story.

With a strong IP and gossip of Haley and Oscar's relationship, the show trended daily.

They even had their own shippers, and Oscar's proposal to another woman was quickly forgotten.

The internet moved fast, and people soon forgot past events.

Time flew by, and Pearl's belly grew larger.

Even standing up became awkward.

"Pearl, are you overworking? You seem to have trouble getting up,"Penelope said, not noticing Pearl's pregnancy, thinking she was feeling south.

Pearl shook her head. "I'm not unwell, just my belly is inconvenient."

Penelope looked at her belly, finally realizing. "It looks like you're pregnant."

Pearl pursed her lips, and Emma said, "She is pregnant, didn't you know?"

Penelope was shocked. "Pearl, you look so young, are you married?"

Emma whispered, "Oscar is a jerk!"

Pearl smiled. "I'm divorced. This child is mine alone."

Penelope was moved. She held Pearl's hand. "You're pregnant and still investing in my show. I'm so grateful!"

"No pain, no gain. I'm not doing it for free," Pearl said. "I'm just taking a gamble."

Penelope felt a huge debt of gratitude. With so many years in this industry, no one had reached out for her.

"No, you're not just an investor; you're the soul of this show. Without you, it wouldn't exist. You should be the director!" Penolope valued the significance of Pearl in this.

Pearl was taken aback. "Director? No way, I don't know anything about that!"

Penelope insisted, "Don't be modest. You're always running around, watching and discussing plays. You might not realize it, but you always have insightful things to say. Maybe you have a natural talent for it."

"You're overestimating me," Pearl said, thinking Penelope was joking.

She had invested in the show, confident it would be a hit, hoping to give Eileen a path to fame and find success herself.

Eileen, sitting next to her and drinking water, chimed in, "I know you value this show a lot. It's our key to success. If you're interested, you should listen to Penelope. It's part of your career."

Pearl was in a phase of confusion, unsure of what she wanted or was interested in. She became a journalist to give ordinary people a chance for justice and invested in the show by accident. She knew focusing on her career was wise, but her heart felt lost.

"I'll think about it," Pearl said.

Just then, there was a commotion outside.

"Where did you hide Adrian? Did you kidnap him? He hasn't been home for half a month!" someone shouted.

"You can't go in!" the security guard blocked them.

"If you don't let us in, there must be a problem. Adrian went missing here, I'm calling the police!" Rachel yelled.

Pearl heard the commotion and Adrian's name. She immediately realized something. "Let them in."

Lauren and Rachel came in, urgently looking for Adrian.

"Adrian isn't here," Pearl reminded them.

Lauren looked at Pearl, sizing her up. "Are you Pearl? The woman who often contacts my son?"

Pearl had never met Lauren before, but seeing Rachel beside her, she understood. "Adrian and I were middle school classmates. Did you say you haven't heard from Adrian for half a month?"

"Yes, I only know he came to see you before he disappeared," Lauren said grimly. "He never leaves without a word. Did you say something to him?"

Rachel stared at Pearl, her intuition telling her that Pearl was the woman Adrian liked. "How long have you been in contact with Adrian? Are you deceiving him? Why would he be so fond of you? He only saw you before he went missing! Tell the truth, or we'll call the police!"

"Don't talk nonsense!" Emma interjected. "Adrian did come and had a meal with us before leaving. What does his disappearance have to do with us? We're law-abiding citizens, not kidnappers!"

Pearl remembered what Adrian had said before he left. He seemed to have something important to do. "Adrian said he was going abroad to a dangerous place. Isn't he doing business?" she asked, frowning.

"A dangerous place?" Lauren's heart skipped a beat. "Why didn't he tell me anything? Where is this dangerous place? Where did he go?"

"Could he have gone to Eldorians?" Rachel suddenly realized, her face changing dramatically. "Didn't I tell him that place is dangerous? Why didn't he listen to me? Why would he go to such a dangerous place?"
