Chapter 563 Drugged

"Honestly, I almost forgot about this myself. Yeah, I did wanna settle in Luminara before, but..." Hathaway trailed off, but everyone got the gist.

Pearl handed over a gift box with a grin. "Let's just forget all that drama. We got you a little something. Check it out."

Hathaway opened the box and pulled out a set of keys and a property deed, totally floored. When she saw the address was in Luminara, she couldn't help but tear up.

Pearl stepped up to comfort her, "You can pick anyone to go with you, and don't sweat the medical stuff; Oscar's got it all sorted."

Magdalen was shocked. She knew Hathaway had some hidden agenda for this family get-together and was worried Oscar might get played.

But now, it seemed like no one could mess with Oscar.

The plan to settle in Luminara worked like a charm for Hathaway. She immediately promised to give up all her property rights and let Oscar run the Brown family.

Basically, she was ready to kick back and enjoy her golden years without meddling in other stuff.

As they left the club, Magdalen couldn't help but laugh out loud with joy.

Everyone knew that after this, the Brown Group would finally be rock solid.

"You're something else. But Oscar, how'd you know?" Magdalen couldn't figure it out all night.

Pearl was just as puzzled and looked at Oscar.

Oscar started the car and drove for a bit before saying, "When Simone went to see her, I had a hunch and bribed Hathaway's caregiver. The day Simone left, I got the scoop from the caregiver."

Pearl and Magdalen suddenly got it and asked at the same time, "So, is Hathaway taking that caregiver abroad?"

"Of course." Oscar grinned mysteriously.

They rolled their eyes at Oscar. Having the caregiver go with Hathaway was like putting a spy right next to her.

Hathaway was all set to move abroad, and two days later, everyone went to the airport to see her off. Even though they knew it was all part of the plan, Pearl still carefully reminded Hathaway about things to watch out for abroad.

As the plane ascended, the vibe in Willow Creek finally mellowed out.Magdalen sighed, "Feels like everything's changed so much."

"Then hurry up and get hitched. Don't forget about tomorrow's party." Oscar reminded her sternly, then hugged Pearl and left without waiting for her reply.

Magdalen, left behind, was fuming. Just as she was about to hail a cab, she realized her handbag was in the car, and she was stuck.

"Magdalen." Just as she was at a loss, Marvin's voice came from behind.

Magdalen froze and turned around awkwardly, saying, "What a coincidence."

"I think I saw your girlfriend get into a car with a guy. What's up? You two fighting?" He was concerned but actually fishing for info.

Magdalen smiled slightly. "That's her family. Sorry, I gotta go."

As a car pulled up, Magdalen swiftly hopped in, only to be surprised when Marvin joined her.

"The Brown Group." They both said the same destination at the same time. The driver was surprised and then chuckled, "You two are really fated. Alright, I'll just charge you for one fare."

Magdalen wanted to get out, but the driver started the car and drove away from the airport.

Marvin kept trying to chat with Magdalen, but she ignored him until they got to the Brown Group building.

Magdalen realized she had no phone or money and had to ask Marvin, "Um, I'll pay you back for the fare later. Can you cover it for now?"

"The driver already said it, just one fare. Consider it on me; you don't need to pay me back." Marvin paid the fare, got out, and walked around to open her door.

Pearl, getting out of another car, saw this and rushed over to shield Magdalen, saying, "Why are you two showing up together?"

Her jealous look was so convincing that Magdalen couldn't help but give a thumbs up.

Marvin chuckled softly, "Pearl, should I call you Mrs. Brown or Ms. Harris?"

They were stunned. So he had known the truth all along but pretended to be clueless.

Magdalen was even more unwilling to deal with Marvin and pulled Pearl into the building.

"Magdalen, I like you. No matter your attitude, I'll always be around. You can only be my woman!" Marvin shouted loudly, and others in the building gathered around, recognizing them and starting to whisper.

Magdalen and Pearl went to the top floor to find Oscar.

The party was held at a resort hotel in the suburbs. The organizers had booked the entire hotel, and attendees could let loose and have a blast.

Magdalen went alone and was confused upon entering the hotel.

Men and women of all kinds were there, making it seem more like a matchmaking event than a regular party.

Then she saw an advertisement board that confirmed her suspicion. Magdalen understood why Pearl couldn't come.

"May I have this dance?" A man approached her, very gentlemanly, and invited her to dance.

Magdalen shook her head. She didn't want to date; she attended the party just to chill.

She wanted to relax, but someone had other plans.

"Her name is Magdalen, the aunt of Oscar from the Brown Group. How could such a noble woman be interested in you?" The newcomer was Marvin, dressed in a tailcoat.

The man, sensing trouble, found an excuse to leave.

Magdalen didn't want to deal with Marvin, so she casually picked up a glass of wine and walked towards another group of people.

Marvin followed closely.

Magdalen was annoyed and suppressed her anger. "What do you want? Didn't I make myself clear?"

"You said you don't like men, but here you are at a matchmaking event. Magdalen, it's not that easy to shake me off." Marvin smiled wickedly and, as the music started, grabbed her and spun her into the center of the dance floor.

"Let go of me," Magdalen shouted.

"Everyone's watching. You don't want to be a laughingstock, do you?" Marvin threatened her.

Magdalen dared not say another word and decided to go along with him to finish this dance first.

They immediately caught the attention of many people.

In a corner, a man wearing sunglasses squinted, his cold gaze piercing through the lenses as if to penetrate Marvin's body.

When the music stopped, Magdalen tried to leave but was held back. "What do you want now?" she snapped.

"That was a good dance. Let's continue." Marvin shouted to the crowd, "Did Ms. Brown dance well? Should we have her dance another one?"

"Dancing with you is no fun." Someone stepped forward, seriously walked over, and pushed Marvin aside.

Marvin shrugged. "If you think I'm not good enough, I'll let you have her."

Magdalen had no choice. Everyone was watching, and she felt like a puppet being manipulated, forced to dance.

When the music stopped, the man was considerate enough to invite her to a booth to rest.

The man handed her a glass of wine and introduced himself. "My name is Nicole Neri. I operate a fabric business and am looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the Brown Group."

"There will definitely be opportunities for collaboration. Now that we know each other, let's toast." Marvin joined in, clinking glasses with them and forcing Magdalen to drink her wine.

Magdalen, upset, didn't notice the exchange of glances between Marvin and Nicole.
