Chapter 731 Honeymoon

As Desiree walked out of the hospital, she dialed the police. It was time to settle the score for everything Isolde had done.

Suddenly, a car pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down, revealing Harold's handsome face.

His expression was full of concern. "Did my mom give you a hard time?"

"Not really. She apologized and wanted my forgiveness, but I just can't get over it," Desiree said as she opened the car door and got in. She recounted everything that had happened in the hospital room to Harold.

After listening, Harold took her hand. "From now on, my mom and I will live our own lives. I'll visit home during the holidays, but I'll go alone. If you don't want to see her, you don't have to."

He would visit because of family ties, but Desiree didn't need to endure that.

Desiree heard the care and love in his words and agreed happily.

After dealing with Isolde, they informed their families and boarded a plane to Solthara.

Throughout the flight, they stayed close to each other. Desiree rested her head on his shoulder. "I wish we could stay this happy forever. When I asked for a divorce, it hurt so much, but I was too stubborn back then."

"It was my fault for not handling the family issues sooner. You wouldn't have been hurt so badly," Harold said, kissing her forehead. "Those unhappy times are behind us. Let's not bring them up again. Get some sleep, and when you wake up, we'll go see the fjords."

"You should rest too," Desiree said, lifting her head to kiss him.

They both believed they would be happy together forever.

Meanwhile, Oscar was busy with the Brown Group's new project and investigating a mysterious organization.

Harold had finally won Desiree back, and Oscar had planned to hand the project over to him. But when he called, he got a simple response.

"We're on our honeymoon. We'll deal with the project when we get back."

"When will you be back?" Oscar asked, looking out the window.

He suddenly wanted to go on a trip with Pearl.

"Not sure, maybe in a week or so," Harold said, holding Desiree as they walked on a glacier, surrounded by snow and love.

He wished this moment could last forever. He worked hard and earned money for this very scene. As long as Desiree was happy, it was all worth it.

Oscar, having been through similar experiences, understood their feelings. They said that reunion after separation was like a second honeymoon, and having lost each other once, they cherished each other even more now.

"Take your time," Oscar said, hanging up and calling in the new assistant for the Brown Group.

The previous assistant hadn't passed the probation period, and Oscar didn't want to search for another one. Nathaniel had a cousin, Clarence, who was a top student studying abroad and had interned at several big companies.

Clarence had both the knowledge and practical skills.

After discussing with Nathaniel, Oscar decided to hire him.

Soon, there was a knock on the door. "Mr. Brown?"

"Come in."

Clarence Egan walked in and approached the desk.

Oscar looked up. "Ready for a challenge?"

"Absolutely, Mr. Brown. Honestly, I joined your company to push my limits," Clarence said confidently.

He was ambitious, having interned at various big companies during his studies, eager to learn everything he could.

After graduating, he returned home to make a name for himself.

"I have a new project. The plan is complete, but some details need refining, and you'll need to oversee the entire project. Think you can handle it?" Oscar placed the documents in front of him. "If you have any questions, just ask."

Though he said that, managing a project was far more challenging than an assistant's daily tasks.

Clarence didn't respond immediately. He reviewed the materials carefully before agreeing. "Mr. Brown, I want to take on this challenge."

"Good. Starting this month, your base salary will increase by twenty percent, and your commission will depend on the project's progress. If you do well, you'll be well compensated," Oscar said, not being a stingy employer.

Even though Clarence was Nathaniel's cousin, Oscar wouldn't skimp on his salary.

Clarence wasn't overly concerned about money. His family was comfortably middle-class, and they had supported his education abroad. Plus, he had saved a significant amount from his own earnings.

He just needed an opportunity to prove himself.

With the project sorted, Oscar felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He wanted to call Pearl and tell her he was coming home.

But when he dialed, her line was busy.

Oscar didn't think much of it and bought some snacks on the way home, all favorites of Pearl and Christopher.

Pearl was on the phone with RavenWing. After a few words, she sensed something was off. "Is there something you need to tell me?"

"No, I just wanted to check on you and the kids. How's Emily?" RavenWing deflected.

Pearl saw through it. "Has anyone told you your acting is terrible?"

RavenWing felt a mix of emotions.

Blood is thicker than water, and the bond between father and daughter was undeniable. He had something to hide from Pearl, but he couldn't tell her.

He would keep it a secret as long as he could.

"Pearl, why talk about acting? I just wanted to check in. If you can, bring the kids to visit me," RavenWing said, genuinely missing them.

Especially Emily, with her chubby cheeks and adorable face.

He wished he could watch Emily grow up, go to school, and eventually start her own family.

But that dream was impossible for him. He didn't know how long he had left and couldn't afford to hope for so much.
