Chapter 625 Not an Object
At a laid-back outdoor bar in the suburbs, Oscar poured Damian a drink.
With a slight grin, he said, "I just don't get you. Out of all the women out there, why Janetta?"
Damian smirked, "Then why Pearl for you?"
Oscar looked him in the eye and said, "Because she can't live without me either."
Damian had no comeback for that.
Taking a big gulp of his drink, Damian sneered, "Mr. Brown, just cut to the chase. No need for the small talk."
Oscar set his glass down, wiped the smile off his face, and got serious, "Removing Janetta's uterus? Are you trying to drive her insane for life?"
Damian shook his head, staying silent.
The evening breeze blew, and Damian glanced up at the sky, suddenly hearing Henry's voice.
He spotted Henry sitting nearby with a stunning woman. Judging by Henry's look, she was probably his new girlfriend.
Damian sneered, "Oscar, I'd rather Janetta stay like this forever than wake up to see Henry with a new girl."
Oscar didn't agree but kept quiet. The Doe Family's plan made sense. If he were Hunter, he'd probably do the same, maybe even more ruthlessly.
Oscar said, "I know I shouldn't meddle in your business, but when it comes to Janetta, I have to step in. You can't decide to remove her uterus."
Damian laughed darkly.
Suddenly, his face turned serious, "Oscar, no matter what you think, Janetta is mine. No one tells me what to do with her."
Oscar got mad, leaning on the table, "She's a person, not a possession."
Whether it was for Pearl or because he knew Janetta, Oscar had to stop Damian!
Damian sneered, "Have you thought about what happens if she gets pregnant? Should she have the baby? How would the kid deal with it, and can she even take care of a child?"
Oscar was left speechless.
Damian stood up, dusting off his clothes. "I've had my drink, Mr. Brown. Do as you please."
With that, he walked away, giving Henry a sarcastic look as he passed by.
Damian's stance was firm, and he believed his reasons were sound.
Oscar went home and told Pearl everything, making her even more worried. She had already guessed Damian would say that, but it was unfair to Janetta.
Janetta was sick, but she would get better. How would she handle not being able to be a mother?
The more Pearl thought about it, the more she felt she had to stop Damian, but she couldn't do it forcefully.
Oscar saw through her thoughts, hugged her, and comforted her, "I've already talked to the hospital. They'll refuse Damian, saying Janetta just had a kidney transplant and isn't fit for another surgery."
Pearl knew this was the only way for now, to calm Damian down and then find a way to take Janetta away.
When Damian got home, he saw Janetta sleeping on the floor and carried her back to the room with a heavy heart.
Janetta woke up, saw it was him, and immediately started crying.
Damian wiped away her tears.
Janetta choked, "Don't scold me, Janie will be good."
Damian smiled and comforted her, "Okay, I won't scold you, but you have to be good."
Janetta nodded, somewhat understanding, and hugged his neck, whispering, "Kiss and you won't scold me. You like kisses."
Damian's eyes softened, and he lowered his head. "Then you kiss me, okay?"
Janetta nodded.
She knew that as long as she did what Damian wanted, he wouldn't scold her.
Her lips awkwardly touched his, and she mimicked his previous actions by biting lightly. But that was all she did.
Damian, in a good mood, pressed her down.
Afterward, he brought her some medicine and warm water, watching as she drank it.
Janetta was puzzled and wanted to ask why she had to take medicine every time, but she was too scared of being scolded, so she kept quiet.
After taking the medicine, she obediently lay back on the bed. When Damian left, she immediately got out of bed and went to the door to eavesdrop.
Damian was indeed standing outside the door, and after a while, he went into the study.
Janetta returned to bed, confirmed that Damian wasn't angry, and fell asleep.
The next day after lunch, Damian took Janetta to the hospital again to consult about the surgery.
They were told that surgery couldn't be done for now, and Damian immediately thought it was Oscar's doing.
He trashed the doctor's office on the spot, threatening the doctor to arrange the surgery immediately.
The doctor, too scared to refuse, pressed the intercom to notify the nurse to prepare for surgery.
After a while, the nurse came in and was startled by the scene.
After a moment, she calmed down and walked to Janetta, speaking softly, "I need to take her to change clothes, Mr. Clark. Can I take her out?"
Damian snorted, "Change right here."
The nurse had no choice and pulled Janetta to the inner office.
Janetta struggled, hiding in the corner and not letting the nurse touch her.
She cried and shouted, "No! I don't want to go."
Damian, annoyed, yelled at her, "Listen, go change your clothes."
"No!" Janetta was actually scared by Damian, thinking he was angry and wanted to send her away, so she refused to leave.
Damian misunderstood, thinking Janetta wanted to leave him, which led her to decline the surgery.
He pushed the doctor aside, grabbed Janetta by the neck, and pinned her against the wall. "Not behaving, huh? Do you really think I won't do anything to you?"
Janetta cried and said, "I'm so scared."
Damian ignored her, drove the doctor away, and started to undress Janetta.
The doctor left the office and immediately called the director to report the situation. The director also immediately notified Oscar.
Soon, Oscar arrived, learned that Damian and Janetta were inside, and tried to break in.
The door opened just then, and Damian pulled Janetta out, giving Oscar a provocative smile.
Oscar stopped him and asked, "Don't you care if she lives or dies?"
Damian sneered, "If I don't act now, Mr. Brown, you probably have a next move, right?"
Oscar sighed, "Yes, I do have a plan. Since you know, I'll tell you directly. Pearl plans to send Janetta to her mother's place."
Damian chuckled, then suddenly twitched and fainted.
Oscar was stunned, but this was good; he could take Janetta away directly.
After having the doctor check Damian, Oscar came to Janetta. "I'll take you away, okay?"
Janetta shook her head, holding onto Damian's hand.
Now, Oscar was in a dilemma. Janetta wouldn't leave, and he couldn't force her.
Shortly after he woke up, the test results came out. He was diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer.
Looking at the medical report, Damian's face was bitter.
Pearl, who arrived later, learned the results and took the opportunity to ask for Janetta. What could Damian do but let go.
Janetta left with Pearl, and that night she had a dream in which she was being concealed by a masked figure.
