Chapter 162 Searching

Pearl was at the job market.

Because it was marked with the Brown Group, many people came to submit their resumes.

Pearl organized them and sent them to Oscar, but received no response.

Oscar found none of the many resumes suitable.

It was clear he was making things difficult for Pearl, not wanting to let her go.

Pearl felt extremely exhausted.

She decided to stay here for another hour and collect some more resumes.

If Oscar still found them unsuitable, she would let it go.

It was hot, so Pearl went out to buy a bottle of water.

On her way back, under the scorching sun, she felt dizzy.

Pearl immediately dared not walk any further.

She sat on the edge of a flower bed by the roadside, gasping for breath.

"Pearl."

A somewhat uncertain male voice suddenly came from beside her.

Pearl instinctively looked over and saw Adrian in a custom-made silver-gray suit, slightly bent over, standing to her side.

Pearl was a bit surprised.

Seeing her turn her head, Adrian straightened up, one hand in his pocket.

"Adrian."

Adrian looked at her and smiled. "Yes, it's me."

"What a coincidence." Pearl realized she always seemed to run into Adrian.

"I came here to check on the site. My assistant just parked to buy something, and I saw you."

Pearl also noticed a black Bentley parked not far away.

"And you? Why are you here alone?"

Adrian's voice pulled Pearl's thoughts back.

Pearl smiled lightly and replied, "I'm here for recruitment."

"Recruitment?"

Adrian couldn't help but frown.

Adrian asked in confusion, "Do you need to come personally for recruitment of the Brown Group ?"

As he spoke, he sat down next to Pearl.

However, he kept a respectful distance from her.

Pearl was silent for a moment, then replied, "Just for recruiting my position."

"Are you resigning?"

Adrian concluded from her words.

Pearl didn't hide it. "Yes."

For a moment, the atmosphere fell silent.

Seeing her looking a little haggard, Adrian hesitated for a moment, then asked,"You don't look well. Is there a problem between you and Oscar?"

Adrian's sudden question stunned Pearl, and she looked up at him.

Pearl and Oscar had a contract-based, unpublicized marriage.

Very few people knew about it.

Pearl had never told Adrian.

Did Adrian know that there was more than just a superior-subordinate relationship between her and Oscar?

Pearl was momentarily dazed, staring at Adrian. She hoarsely asked, "Have you heard about it?" "

"Yes," Adrian said with a smile. "I knew last time."

He had sensed it when he saw Oscar last time.

Plus, with the recent hot topics about Pearl and Oscar, Adrian was certain.

He used to think Pearl probably liked Oscar.

Now he realized it was much more than he had imagined.

However, as long as Pearl was happy, that was all that mattered.

But it seemed Pearl was not happy.

Pearl lowered her head. "I'm sorry, Adrian, for keeping it from you."

"It's okay, it's your privacy, I understand."

Not having to bear the burden of this unpublicized marriage and keeping it a secret was a relief for Pearl. She said to Adrian, "It doesn't matter now that you know, anyway, I'm preparing to divorce him soon."

Hearing "divorce," Adrian felt both happy and frustrated.

"Why?" Adrian paused, instinctively clenching his fist, then added. "Is he... not good to you?"

Pearl chuckled lightly. "I wouldn't say he's not good. If you don't consider the marriage, he might be good to me. But now the time has come, and it's time to divorce."

It was time to divorce/.

It sounded like a contract marriage.

Pearl and Oscar didn't want to make this marriage public, probably for that reason.

Adrian could only comfort Pearl. "Pearl, if he makes you unhappy, then it's better to say goodbye. If you still have lingering feelings, hold on a bit longer. Eventually, you'll let go. Everything passes with time."

Pearl wholeheartedly agreed with Adrian's words. "You're right. With time, you naturally let go. I really feel that now."

Adrian didn't know how to respond.

Was Pearl saying she had given up?

Adrian fell into deep thought. Pearl had liked Oscar for so many years. Had she really given up?

Back then, Adrian had returned once.

He was worried about Pearl and went to find her.

At that time, she was in high school. Adrian hid behind a tree, watching her secretly.

As long as she was okay, Adrian was relieved.

Adrian saw Pearl smiling, and her gaze was fixed on Oscar not far away.

He wasn't surprised that Pearl would like Oscar, who was handsome and very popular among girls in school.

And at that time, Adrian was very fat. He had no confidence.

Adrian looked at Pearl, the girl he had liked for many years and hoped that she would be happy.

"Pearl, look over here!"

Pearl looked over and saw Adrian suddenly making a funny face at her.

Pearl was stunned.

Seeing this, Adrian felt a bit awkward. "Isn't it funny?"

Pearl hadn't expected someone usually so serious to do something like that.

More than the funny face, his awkwardness was what made it amusing.

Pearl laughed. "Why did you suddenly do that?"

Adrian replied, "I wanted to cheer you up but didn't know how can I do in this situation."

Pearl was very touched.

Adrian always considered Pearl's feelings.

Someone as emotionally stable and gentle as him would make a great boyfriend.

Unfortunately, Pearl was pregnant and had been married, so she couldn't be with him.

"I wasn't that happy initially, but seeing you like this, I can't help but laugh," Pearl said with a smile.

"As long as you can laugh, that's good."

Neither Adrian nor Pearl knew that Oscar had just arrived and witnessed this scene.

Adrian and Pearl looked like a couple on a date.

Oscar's face immediately darkened, his eyes filled with a hint of murderous intent.

Pearl was doing such a great job

First, she went to find a lawyer, and now she was here with Adrian!

"Adrian Egan, Magee," Oscar muttered these two names.

"Adrian Egan, could he be the man Pearl referred to as Magee?" He wasn't sure, but the more he looked, the more it seemed likely.

"Mr. Brown, we couldn't find any information on a man named Magee, but the only man who has been around Mrs. Brown all these years is Adrian."

In other words, the man Pearl liked could very well be Adrian.

Maybe Magee was just a nickname Pearl used for him?

Oscar's expression grew increasingly cold.

Pearl returned to the Brown Group at around four in the afternoon.

She had only chatted with Adrian for a while. He had wanted to invite her for a meal, but she had work to do, so she declined.

This time, she was well-prepared.

She had over thirty resumes.

When Pearl returned to the office, Harold glanced at her and said, "Pearl, did you find all these at the job market?"

"Yes," Pearl replied.

Harold pursed her lips. "Pearl, I don't think there's any need to rush."

Pearl wanted to leave the company as soon as possible, wholeheartedly looking for someone to replace her position. Wasn't this just making things difficult for Oscar?

Besides, Oscar had been in a bad mood.

Pearl hadn't realized this. She just wanted to complete her work and placed the documents in front of Oscar. "Mr. Brown, these are the resumes of the candidates. They all graduated from top schools. Please take a look and see if there is any suitable one."
