Chapter 24 You Can't Comfort Me at All

Pearl was being dragged by Oscar. taking small steps as he observed her slightly intoxicated face. His tone becoming more indifferent. "Normally, you and I only drink coffee at home, but with Adrian you drink wine. Do you not know your limits? Or did Adrian give you the courage to drink?"

As he spoke, he noticed her suppressed tears. His anger dissipated instantly. He rarely saw Pearl cry.

In front of him, she never showed her vulnerability.

Strong enough to handle all difficulties.

"Why do you treat me like this?" Pearl's voice was hoarse, perhaps due to the effects of alcohol, she finally didn't need to pretend to be strong, accusing, "Why do you always pick on me, berate me? Am I an easy target? Oscar, you're such a jerk!"

Her fist landed on Oscar's chest, venting her dissatisfaction.

Faced with her crying, Oscar couldn't be so tough anymore, he hugged her, the sharpness between his eyebrows seemed to melt away. He was about to say something but not knowing how to make her stop crying, and could only say, "Pearl, don't cry."

Oscar had never seen her like this before, a bit more coquettish, a bit silly, for some reason, he found it quite amusing.

He followed her and squatted down, his hand on her back, "Alright, I won't argue with you about today's matter, let's go home."

Pearl shook her head.

"What will it take for you to come home?" Oscar asked patiently.

Pearl said, "I'm not easily persuaded, Oscar, I'm very angry, you can't comfort me at all." Her tears fell again. "You never know how to comfort me, you can't comfort me at all."

In the end, Oscar had to coax and deceive Pearl into the car.

On the way, Oscar occasionally observed Pearl's situation through the rearview mirror. She seemed to have fallen asleep, her long eyelashes casting a faint shadow in the moonlight, softening Oscar's heart.

Upon reaching the apartment, Oscar gently carried Pearl once more. This time, his movements were even gentler, afraid of waking her up. As the elevator ascended, Oscar looked down at Pearl in his arms, his eyes full of tenderness.

After entering the bedroom, Oscar carefully laid Pearl on the bed. However, just as he was about to get up, Pearl suddenly opened her eyes.

"Oscar... you rascal." Pearl's tipsy voice rang out, her flushed face even more pronounced.

Oscar was stunned for a moment, before Pearl began to pound his chest with her small fists.

"You're always like this, cold and violent towards me, bullying me." Pearl accused as she pounded, her voice filled with grievance and dissatisfaction.
