Chapter 923 Lecture

For a moment, she wanted to ask Lyra why she worked so hard.

But seeing Lyra's confused expression, she swallowed her words and changed the subject. "It's time to eat. You gotta take care of yourself. I saw you taking medicine for stomach pain a few days ago."

Lyra wanted to cover the phone, but it was too late.

Jeffery had already heard everything, and there was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.

Lyra was a bit scared of this silence. After her colleague left, she tried to explain, "Actually, I've been eating properly..."

Jeffery interrupted, "Can you load money onto your cafeteria card? I'll do it for you, using my info."

This way, he would get real-time updates on whether she had eaten or not.

Jeffery's tone was firm and leave no room for refusal, so Lyra had to accept. After Jeffery loaded money onto her card, she never missed a meal again, knowing he was always watching. Even if she forgot, Jeffery would call to remind her.

After a few people saw this, they assumed he was her boyfriend, and their curiosity was piqued.

"Dr. Cole, is that your boyfriend? He's so good to you."

"Yeah, I wish I had a boyfriend who made sure I ate every day. We're so busy sometimes we don't even have time to drink water, let alone eat. I'm going to get stomach problems at this rate."

"Dr. Cole, where did you find such a great boyfriend? Tell us!"

Faced with their teasing, Lyra explained, "He's not my boyfriend. He's my former director..."

"Oh, the director, huh? Is your director a man or a woman?" Someone gave her a knowing smile, clearly not believing her.

If her former director were that nice, why didn't their own director remind them to eat every day? It was obvious he had feelings for her.

Lyra couldn't explain it.

In the end, she just picked up her lunchbox and hid in her office.

What Lyra didn't expect was that Jeffery would actually come to their hospital.

One day, after finishing a surgery and feeling exhausted, someone grabbed her.

"Dr. Cole, you just finished surgery? I have good news. A super handsome guy just arrived at our hospital. I heard he has dual PhDs and is a young hospital dean."

Lyra thought this person sounded familiar, but didn't connect it to Jeffery.

After all, Jeffery was in Willow Creek.

He was so busy, how could he have time to come here?

Seeing her lack of interest, the person got anxious. "Don't you believe me? I'll take you to see him right now."

Lyra wanted to say she didn't disbelieve, but she was already being dragged away.

When they reached the lobby, it was packed. Patients were glancing over, and there were many doctors and nurses, not just women but also curious male doctors.

They all wanted to see how outstanding this colleague was.

And Lyra saw the director.

"The dean is here too," she murmured.

Maybe the director sensed her, because he suddenly looked over. When he saw Lyra, his eyes lit up, and he called her over.

"Lyra, perfect timing. I was just about to send someone to find you. Mr. Gary is here to give a lecture. You know him, right? Come say hi."

Lyra was stunned as she saw Jeffery walking through the crowd.

He wasn't wearing a lab coat, just casual clothes.

A khaki turtleneck sweater softened his sharp features, paired with trousers, giving him a relaxed vibe, but his aloofness remained.

This only fueled everyone's enthusiasm.

It was precisely this indifference that made people want to get closer, even more fervently.

Jeffery shook hands with the dean. "Mr. Wright, thank you for coming to greet me personally."

"You're welcome, Mr. Gary. It's an honor to have you here at our hospital," the director Robert Wright smiled.

They exchanged a few pleasantries, and Lyra kept her gaze down, not showing any familiarity with Jeffery in public.

She guessed this was what he wanted.

Sure enough, Jeffery only glanced at her briefly before following Robert inside.

He was accompanied by several doctors from Willow Creek Serenity Health Center, all older and accomplished in the medical field.

Among the forty-somethings, Jeffery, in his twenties, stood out.

After they left, everyone was still buzzing.

"He's so handsome, I can barely stand."

"Only twenty-seven, so accomplished, with dual PhDs. My God! I can't even imagine it, and he's already achieved it. And I heard... he's single."

This last bit made all the eligible women present eager.

Lyra stood up.

Someone asked, "Dr. Cole, where are you going?"

"I'm going to see Mr. Wright. I have some updates on my project to discuss with him."

No one doubted her.

Only Robert knew Lyra's background; the others didn't know she was acquainted with Jeffery.

Lyra knocked on Robert's office door. "Mr. Wright, may I come in? I have some work updates."

The next second, Robert opened the door.

"Come in, come in. No need to knock next time, just come in."

Lyra entered.

Jeffery was sitting on the sofa, a cup of coffee in front of him. His short hair was neat, and his eyes, slightly raised, were deep and captivating.

"Mr. Gray."

Jeffery frowned slightly. "No need for that, it's just us here."

Lyra quickly adapted. "Sorry, forget I said that."

She sat next to him.

As she sat down, the coldness on Jeffery's face seemed to soften a bit, and his tone wasn't as harsh.

the director's gaze shifted between them, smiling knowingly. "I wonder how long Mr. Gray will be staying this time? One day isn't enough for a lecture, right?"

"Yes, I'll be here for three days. Besides the lecture, there's a collaboration." Jeffery handed over a document.

Robert's eyes lit up as he read it.

"You're really willing to share these medical facilities with us?"

His excitement was palpable.

The biggest difference between A City's hospital and Willow Creek was the medical equipment. Willow Creek used the latest, top-notch imported equipment, making it a first-class hospital.

A City lagged behind.

But with these medical facilities, everything would change!
