Chapter 300 Experimental Subjects

Haley saw the crowd and how frail Eileen looked, and she freaked out. "Stop filming! She's faking it! I didn't touch her; she bumped into me. I was just defending myself!"

Pearl helped Eileen up and snapped, "You've already got what you wanted. Why keep bullying her? Does she have to leave the industry to make you happy?"

"What are you talking about?" Haley shot back, seeing Pearl join in.

With so many people around, Haley couldn't explain herself. She realized she had underestimated Pearl and Eileen, who had turned against her.

"Just wait and see!" Haley stormed off, worried about more onlookers.

After she left, Pearl helped Eileen inside. They had to keep up the act. But Eileen noticed something. "Does Haley have that much strength? You've got bruises on your hand."

Pearl looked at her arm and saw faint bruises, which didn't hurt. "I don't know what's going on."

She felt something was off. 'Why am I getting bruises for no reason? Haley couldn't have done this.'

Eileen was worried too. "Haley's words were weird. It's like she knows something and is already seeing your downfall."

Pearl felt it too. "I'll get checked out."

The bruises were a warning sign.

When Pearl sent Eileen back, Oscar was already at their door.

Elijah greeted, "Ms. Harris."

Eileen said, "I'll go to my room," and left Pearl at the door.

Oscar looked grim. "You acted fast, stirring public opinion against Haley."

Pearl didn't hide anything. "If I don't act now, once Eileen's popularity fades, who will care?"

"You've got a journalist's edge now," Oscar said, his tone unclear. "Do you know how much this affects my company?"

"I told you, business and personal feelings don't mix. I'm doing my job."

"I specifically told you not to provoke Haley, and you didn't listen," Oscar frowned.

Pearl's mood soured, feeling he was taking Haley's side. "If she didn't provoke me, I wouldn't go after her. If you protect her, you're helping her! You opened an entertainment company for her, so don't lecture me!"

Seeing her upset, Oscar softened. "Let's talk at home."

He reached for her shoulder.

Pearl, furious, shook him off. "If I'm going back, it's to my own home."

Then, Pearl suddenly collapsed.

Oscar's eyes widened, and he caught her as she fainted. "Pearl!" he called out, but she was unconscious.

Oscar called her name several times, but Pearl didn't respond.

He quickly carried her to find a doctor.

Pearl was taken into the emergency room, and the doctor went in to examine her.

Oscar stood outside, anxious, his eyes fixed on the door.

His heart raced, unable to relax, his palms sweaty with worry.

He sensed something was seriously wrong with Pearl.

After about ten minutes, the doctor came out and told Oscar, "I can't find any issues with Ms. Harris. All her tests are normal, and the fainting is unexplained. However, I did notice several bruises on her, and I don't know what caused them. Also, there's a needle mark on the back of her neck."

The doctor's words made Oscar even more worried.

Not finding the cause was the most dangerous.

Oscar entered the room, looking at Pearl's thin face.

She had lost a lot of weight recently.

Pregnancy was already tough, and now she had other symptoms, which made him feel heartbroken.

Oscar held her hand tightly and stroked her cheek.

"Oscar, how is she?" Quincy rushed over after hearing the news.

Seeing Pearl's condition, he knew something was wrong.

Oscar turned to him. "Temporary coma, the doctor hasn't found the cause yet."

Quincy, also a doctor but not in this field, examined Pearl and found the bruises on her arm. This symptom was something he had never seen before. "Is it possible she's been poisoned?"

Oscar had already thought of that, which was the worst-case scenario.

If it was poisoning, they would need to find the person who poisoned her to get the antidote.

But now this poison couldn't be detected.

"Pearl was kidnapped recently." Oscar suspected they injected Pearl with some poison.

Quincy's face became serious. "Poisoning Pearl is a way to threaten you. They've found your weak spot!"

Oscar wasn't sure yet. 'Wouldn't it be easier to inject the poison into me rather than Pearl?'

"Pearl's poisoning is still in the early stages. The kidnappers will reveal themselves when they want to negotiate with me."

Quincy looked at the cross bracelet on Pearl's hand and found it peculiar. "Oscar, where did this cross bracelet come from?"

Elijah answered, "Ms. Harris must have met someone when she went out. She had it when she came back."

Quincy took it off and examined it closely, finding some clues. "Oscar, this cross bracelet has a faint smell of blood and a hint of medicine. If you look closely, there's a trace of blood inside."

Oscar asked, "Is it good or bad for her?"

"It's beneficial for her."

This also answered one of Quincy's doubts. "It seems this cross bracelet is protecting her, preventing the poison from getting too severe. The person who used this method to suppress the poison in her body used their own blood."

Quincy looked at Oscar. "Only those experimental subjects can do this."

Oscar thought for a moment and said, "This hasn't been confirmed, but I've heard that out of ten thousand people, not one can become an experimental subject."

Because cultivating experimental subjects was particularly cruel, surviving as one was already a miracle.

"This is just my guess. Otherwise, her poison would have already acted up."

Oscar remembered seeing Jeffery by chance at the apartment, who lived next to Pearl.
