Chapter 626 Being Forced
Waking up from that nightmare, Janetta just sat there, dazed, for what felt like forever. Eventually, she dragged herself out of bed and curled up in the corner, crying softly.
Pearl, worried about Janetta's first day here, went downstairs to check on her. When she heard the sobs coming from Janetta's room, she didn't hesitate to open the door.
Flipping on the light, Pearl was taken aback by what she saw.
She walked over and gently hugged Janetta. "Bad dream?"
Janetta nodded.
Pearl, out of habit, rubbed Janetta's forehead, and Janetta looked a bit surprised.
"Did we know each other before?" Janetta asked softly.
Pearl nodded. "Yeah, we were really good friends."
Janetta tilted her head, thinking. "So, you used to rub my forehead like this?"
She pointed to her forehead, looking at Pearl with innocent eyes.
Pearl gave a bittersweet smile and nodded, almost tearing up.
Back in the day, when Janetta was upset, Pearl would comfort her like this.
Now, Janetta didn't remember who Pearl was, but she remembered this. Maybe it was muscle memory?
Whatever it was, Pearl was determined to help Janetta get better now that she was under her care.
Pearl rubbed Janetta's forehead again and gently coaxed, "This is our little secret. Do you like it?"
Janetta nodded, pointing to her heart. "I like it, and my heart likes it too."
Pearl smiled and hugged her again. "If there's ever anything you don't like, just tell me, and I won't make you do it."
Janetta nodded again and leaned on Pearl's shoulder, slowly closing her eyes.
To get Janetta to Eldorians, RavenWing had to come over.
Pearl's pregnancy made it tough for her to travel, and she wasn't sure if Janetta would be okay with RavenWing.
After thinking it over all night, Pearl decided to let Janetta stay a few more days. Once Janetta knew RavenWing wasn't a bad guy, she'd go to Eldorians with him.
The next afternoon, Oscar brought RavenWing back, and Pearl shared her plan with them.
RavenWing frowned. "Honestly, there's a lot going on at home. If I stay here for a few days, I'm not sure Louis can handle it all."
Pearl looked troubled and turned to Oscar.
Oscar, naturally siding with her, patted her shoulder. "I'll call Louis later; it'll be fine."
RavenWing wanted to say something, but Oscar cut him off. "Right now, the most important thing is to take good care of our baby."
Then, Oscar looked at RavenWing and smiled. "Right?"
RavenWing knew Oscar was reminding him and sighed, nodding. "Alright, I'll stay for a few days and talk to Louis later."
"Thank you." Pearl wanted to hug him, but RavenWing, worried about hurting the baby, refused.
None of them knew that Janetta was at the top of the stairs, listening to everything.
Janetta looked at the doll in her hand for a long time, then bit her lip and threw it on the ground.
She walked downstairs, came to Pearl's side, and spoke softly, "I'm willing to leave with him."
Her words shocked everyone, especially Pearl.
Pearl immediately held her hand. "Janie, remember, you don't have to do anything you don't want to."
Janetta shook her head, speaking firmly. "I want to leave here."
She really did want to leave, not just because she knew about Pearl's plans, but because staying here scared her.
Pearl didn't get it and thought Janetta was just trying to avoid making her mad.
But RavenWing saw through Janetta's thoughts and pulled Pearl aside to ask quietly, "Did she stay here when she was hurt before?"
Pearl nodded. "Yeah."
RavenWing sighed. "That makes sense. In medical terms, it's... well, never mind. The point is, she shouldn't stay here. She probably doesn't even know why."
Pearl looked back at Janetta, feeling heartbroken. "Then I'll need you to take extra good care of her."
RavenWing didn't think it was a big deal. As long as Janetta was willing to go with him, once they got to Eldorians, everything would be fine.
Knowing Janetta's situation, RavenWing arranged for a special place that looked like a garden for her to stay. Besides the regular room cleaning and three meals a day, only one servant would take care of her.
Such a quiet environment was perfect for Janetta to recuperate.
They arrived at Eldorians around dusk. Janetta seemed a bit afraid of the dark, and her overall state wasn't great.
RavenWing noticed and immediately had the servant take her to the garden. While she was settling into her room, he had food sent over.
When Janetta came downstairs and saw RavenWing, her anxiety lessened a bit, which RavenWing noticed.
He had her sit across from him and served her food.
Janetta ate cautiously, like she was worried she might do something to anger RavenWing.
RavenWing called the servant over and introduced her in front of Janetta. "This is Audrey Carroll. I specifically hired her to take care of you. You can tell her to do anything. It's just the two of you here, and she has to listen to you."
Janetta seemed to understand somewhat.
RavenWing explained again, "It's like you're the queen, and she has to obey your every command, understand?"
Janetta shook her head.
Audrey smiled. "It means I'm your servant, and I'm here to take care of you."
Janetta still shook her head.
They then realized that communicating with Janetta was not going to be easy.
At that moment, someone came to discuss matters with RavenWing, so he had to leave Janetta with Audrey and attend to family affairs.
Seeing RavenWing leave, Janetta asked softly, "Will he come back later?"
Audrey looked at the door and asked in return, "Do you want him to come back?"
Janetta didn't say anything. She didn't know whether she should say yes or no.
Audrey didn't understand what she was thinking and served her more food.
She thought it would take a long time to get familiar with Janetta, but while she was cleaning the kitchen, Janetta came over on her own.
Seeing this, Audrey spoke first, "What do you want?"
Janetta walked over, opened the fridge, and took out a bottle of milk, but she didn't know how to open the straw.
Audrey helped her, inserting the straw and handing it to her. "Call me next time, and I'll help you."
Janetta nodded. "Thank you. Are you sleeping with me tonight? Damian said girls should sleep with boys. Are you a boy?"
Audrey knew about Janetta's past and gently rubbed her forehead, asking, "Does Janie like sleeping with Damian?"
Janetta was stunned and shook her head.
Audrey smiled. "Then we won't sleep with Damian anymore. I'll tell you a story, and when you fall asleep, I'll sleep on the floor."
Hearing that she didn't have to sleep with Damian, Janetta visibly relaxed.
Apparently, she was often forced to be with Damian.
At night, Audrey opened a storybook and let Janetta choose. Janetta hesitated for a long time, observing her expression before picking a story.
Audrey began to tell the story, and Janetta watched her with big eyes. When she heard about a little girl drawing a blue sun, she leaned in, asking, "Where is the blue sun?"
Janetta searched for the drawing.
