Chapter 37 Pearl Will Definitely Be Happy If She Marry To Adrian .
Kittie urged them to have some alone time and nudged Pearl into the kitchen.
At that moment, Oscar meticulously cleaned all the ingredients.
In Pearl's recollection, Oscar had never engaged in such tasks before.
Pearl inquired, "What brings you here?"
Oscar replied, "Since you didn't pick up my calls, I naturally came to ask Kittie about your whereabouts."
Pearl washed vegetables with him. "I remember you never did these things before."
Oscar turned his head, teasingly saying, "I'm trying to please my mother-in-law."
"Don't talk nonsense," Pearl replied.
"Why didn't you answer my calls?" Oscar asked again.
Pearl paused. "I was afraid of disturbing you and Haley."
Oscar chuckled.
Pearl asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"Are you jealous?" Oscar teased.
Pearl denied, "No, you and Haley have been together more than once; if I got jealous every time, I'd be green with envy."
Oscar remained silent, but when water splashed on her face, Pearl intended to wipe it with her sleeve. However, Oscar stopped her hand, dried his own, and then handed her a tissue to wipe her face.
Feeling his careful attention, Pearl stared at him.
He was focused and gentle at that moment, reminiscent of her teenage years. In him, she saw shades of Magee.
"Be careful," Oscar said in a husky voice. "You better not do it, don't get yourself dirty."
He took the vegetables she was washing.
Kittie watched from outside, seeing them affectionate, she turned to Evans. "Evans, come and see, I told you Pearl is happy, no need to worry, Oscar is so good to her."
Evans, however, was skeptical, "What if they're just putting on a show? Who knows if he's mistreating Pearl behind our backs."
"You're overthinking," Kittie said. "If Oscar doesn't like Pearl, why would he marry her."
Evans pursed his lips slightly, coldly snorting, "After they get married, how many times have you seen this kind of scene, don't forget what Pearl said before, their relationship can't be told to anyone, which family has such a condition, I think, it still needs to be observed!"
Oscar and Pearl's marriage came too suddenly, although it helped them a lot, he still felt something was off.
Evans knew Pearl's temperament very well, even if she was unhappy, she wouldn't tell them.
Of course, he wanted Pearl to be happy, but he wanted her to truly be happy.
Kittie went to cook and Pearl sat outside to make coffee for Evans.
At this moment, the doorbell rang.
Pearl said, "I'll go and open the door."
She hurried to open the door, only to see Adrian standing at the door, she was a bit surprised. "Adrian?"
Adrian smiled. "I hope I'm not disturbing you all."
"Not at all, come in quickly." Pearl didn't expect him to come to their house.
Adrian brought many gifts in his hands, and when he came in, he quickly called out, "Kittie, Evans."
Kittie looked at Adrian, took several glances before recognizing him.
Evans was very happy to see Adrian, stood up, and walked over. "Isn't this Adrian? It's been many years, when did you come back?"
"I just came back not long ago, I've already met Pearl, so I came to see you, sorry for the abrupt visit," Adrian said.
Kittie also said, "So it's Adrian, who used to live next door to us, so many years have passed in the blink of an eye, Adrian, you've become much more handsome!"
"Thank you for the compliment, Kittie," Adrian said with a smile.
Upon seeing Oscar sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed, his sharp eyes fixed on him, Adrian was surprised and asked, "Mr. Brown is here too?"
Their eyes all turned to Oscar, unsure how to respond.
Pearl immediately said, "Mr. Brown is visiting us today, Adrian, please have a seat."
Kittie added, "Adrian, I'm cooking, so you must stay for dinner."
"Okay, thank you, Kittie," Adrian said politely.
Fortunately, the sofa was large enough for them, and Adrian sat diagonally across from Oscar.
Evans and Adrian were chatting about their past.
Only then did Pearl realize that Adrian was familiar with Evans and Kittie.
How did she not know about this strange relationship?
Oscar, overhearing their conversation, immediately grew cold and displeased.
Sitting here, listening to them talk about the past, he felt like an outsider.
At the dinner table, Adrian was particularly attentive to Pearl, pouring her a glass of milk.
"Here you are," he said.
"Thank you," Pearl replied.
Oscar glanced and said coldly, "Mr. Egan also knows that Pearl likes to drink milk?"
Adrian said, "I used to see her drink it often when we were studying, I didn't know if she still had that habit."
Pearl was surprised that Adrian knew, but Oscar's mood grew more complex upon hearing this.
He wasn't the only one who knew that Pearl liked to drink milk.
Seeing the cup placed aside, Oscar tapped the table with both hands and accidentally knocked it over, spilling the milk.
Oscar's icy gaze fixed on Adrian. "I'll get another cup."
Pearl looked at Oscar again, finding his behavior peculiar.
When he came back, Oscar said, "I bring you a cup of warm milk; the weather is getting cooler."
Pearl felt warm in her heart and quickly held the cup in her hands.
Seeing her gesture, Oscar felt much more at ease.
Adrian also noticed the subtleties between them, but didn't say anything, instead, he chatted with Evans.
Perhaps due to drinking too much, Evans became more talkative, praising Adrian, "You have achieved so much now, it's not easy, you're really amazing."
Adrian replied, "It's nothing, Evans, I've just been lucky."
"You're a good person." Evans patted Adrian's shoulder with both hands, and blurted out, "Adrian, what do you think of Pearl? She's beautiful and has a good temper, why don't you get engaged to Pearl."
As soon as he said that, the expressions of the people present changed.
Kittie was shocked,Pearl was a bit embarrassed, and Oscar's face immediately darkened.
Only Adrian remained silent with a smile.
Kittie quickly broke the awkward silence, "Evans, you're drunk, why are you talking nonsense!"
"I'm not drunk, Adrian is such a good person, it's been many years since we last met, and he still remembers us as soon as he returns, it shows that he knows how to be grateful. Pearl will definitely be happy marrying him." Evans had drunk a lot, but this was also what he truly felt. He hoped Pearl would be happy, and he believed Adrian would treat Pearl well.
"Adrian, please don't mind, Evans is drunk," Kittie said.
"I don't mind," Adrian spoke gently. "Evans is drunk, I understand."
Oscar's face turned darker and he looked at Adrian. "You better not take that seriously."
Adrian looked at him and asked, "What do you mean, Mr. Brown?"
Oscar's gaze sharpened, his tone turning cold. "You will never marry Pearl in this lifetime!"
