Chapter 558 Kidnapped

"If you wanna ignore me, fine. But when I'm rolling in dough and living the high life, getting what I want will be a breeze." After Alfonso said his piece, he knocked Magdalen out cold and locked her up in the attic.

Later that night, when Pearl and Oscar's plane touched down, they were floored by the new billboards as they stepped out of the airport.

The biggest billboard near the airport used to push the Brown Group's hot cosmetics, but now it was all about some food ad.

Switching up the ad without Oscar's say-so? That was weird.

They both got suspicious, exchanged looks, and knew something was up in Willow Creek.

Just as Pearl was about to say something, Oscar's phone buzzed.

It was Wayne Watson, the head honcho of the planning department, a real old-timer and loyal to the Brown Group.

Oscar answered, "Wayne, I was just about to call you. What's up with the ad switch at the airport?"

"Mr. Brown, I was gonna tell you. Get to my place ASAP; everyone's waiting for you." Wayne sounded urgent.

No more questions needed, Oscar and Pearl grabbed a cab and sped over.

Wayne's study was packed with people. When they saw Oscar, they all stood up and greeted, "Mr. Brown."

Everyone spoke in unison.

Oscar instructed them to take a seat and said, "Alright, spill it. What's going on?"

He had a feeling but no proof, just a hunch.

"Alfonso's been bribing the CFO, the head of procurement, and some clients. Now, the Brown Group's almost totally in his pocket!"

Wayne and the others laid out Alfonso's moves, which were way beyond what they'd imagined.

Pearl frowned, expecting some laid-back days in Willow Creek, but it turned out to be the complete opposite. She let out a sigh.

Oscar went over to comfort her, "Don't sweat it, Alfonso can't cause too much trouble. But with all this chaos in the Brown Group, why hasn't Magdalen stepped in?"

Everyone suddenly remembered Magdalen.

Someone said worriedly, "We've been getting crushed in the company. Could Ms. Magdalen Brown be in trouble too?"

Wayne shot that down, "Alfonso wouldn't go that far."

Speculating was pointless. Oscar told everyone to head home while he went to face Alfonso.

The night was dark and foggy.

The villa was lit up, filled with laughter and chatter.

Oscar barged into the living room, ignoring the couple on the sofa, and sat right across from them.

The woman, embarrassed, grabbed her clothes from the floor to cover up and hid behind Alfonso, asking, "Mr. Brown, who's he?"

The woman called Alfonso "Mr. Brown," and Oscar gave Alfonso a half-smile. He wanted to see if Alfonso had the guts to answer her.

Alfonso cleared his throat and put on a stern face. "Get out. Come back when I call you."

Oscar wasn't going anywhere. He tossed his car keys on the table and leaned back on the sofa, feet up.

Alfonso covered the woman with his jacket and angrily pushed her away. "Wait for me in the room. Don't come down unless I say so."

The woman nodded and bolted.

With just the two of them left, Oscar walked into the kitchen to grab some booze, giving Alfonso time to get dressed.

"Bring out a bottle of red wine," Alfonso shouted, seeing Oscar only brought beer, and snorted in annoyance.

Oscar glared at him, and Alfonso shut up. "Your red wine's in the kitchen? Looks like you're not doing so hot either."

"Cut the crap, Oscar. You know I've been shaking things up at the Brown Group. I'm gunning for the whole shebang, not just the company but all the Brown family assets." Alfonso lifted his chin.

Oscar took a swig of his beer and asked quietly, "Where's Magdalen?"

He wasn't here for the company; he was here to get answers about Magdalen.

On the way over, he'd already sent people to check her place, but she wasn't there, confirming his suspicions.

Alfonso's face tightened for a second, then he burst out laughing.

He laughed for a good while before suddenly stopping. "You want her? Fine, show up at the company tomorrow and sign the transfer agreement. All shares and rights go to me."

Oscar replied, "And if I don't?"

"Then kiss seeing Magdalen goodbye. But you must be worried about her, right? I told her not to side with you. After all, I'm her family, but she didn't listen to me." Alfonso's laugh turned sinister, his expression downright nasty.

Oscar wasn't in the mood for chit-chat. He grabbed his car keys and stood up, his cold eyes locked on Alfonso. "You've been stashing a lot of cash. If you don't want your reputation trashed, you'd better back off now."

Alfonso snorted, "You know me. Mercy isn't my strong suit."

Oscar walked out without a backward glance.

Alfonso, spooked by Oscar's words, muttered complaints as he stormed upstairs to take out his anger on the woman.

With no useful info from Alfonso, Oscar turned to the company's surveillance footage.

Since Magdalen had been to the company, there had to be a record.

Luckily, he had a backup plan. His personal computer could tap into the company's surveillance system.

Magdalen's figure popped up, and Oscar saw that many employees had seen her. She went straight to the top floor to see Alfonso, but after entering the CEO's office, she never came out.

Oscar said, "Could she still be in the company?"

Pearl was puzzled, thinking Alfonso was too bold. Even if he controlled the company, Oscar was still the CEO.

Wasn't he afraid of being caught hiding someone in the company? Could it be that the most dangerous place was the safest place?

Pearl shook her head and said, "I think it's impossible. If it were me, I wouldn't stay in the company, unless..."

She thought of something but didn't dare to say it.

Oscar clenched his fists, filled with rage. "If that's the case, Alfonso is as good as dead."

As they spoke, Alfonso appeared on the surveillance footage, dragging a large suitcase.

They exchanged glances and immediately focused on the screen.

The large suitcase was taken out of the company by Alfonso. The external surveillance couldn't track it, so Oscar immediately used his connections.

Soon, a surveillance video was sent to his phone, showing Alfonso taking the large suitcase back to his villa.

"Magdalen's at his place." Pearl slapped her thigh, suddenly realizing.

Given Alfonso's audacity, this made sense.

"Should we go rescue her now?" Pearl suggested, itching to move.

Oscar shook his head and said, "I'll handle this. You stay with Christopher and make sure he's set for school."

Pearl got what he meant and nodded.

Rescuing Magdalen didn't need Oscar to go personally. The next morning, the woman who had spent the night at Alfonso's house was taken away, and half an hour later, the cops showed up and busted Alfonso for soliciting prostitution.

As soon as the police left, a black car that had been parked at the corner drove into the villa, and two men got out.
