Chapter 538 Gratitude
Oscar was about to say something when Pearl strolled over. "Dad, I know about Mackenzie. She was set up by his real dad, and he never wanted her from the start."
Evans squinted. "You sure you're not just covering for him?"
Pearl always had Oscar's back. She never asked for a title when she was with him, and they didn't even have a wedding.
By spilling the beans in front of everyone that he wasn't a Brown, Oscar showed just how much Pearl meant to him.
He'd rather be the talk of the town than let Pearl get hurt.
This wedding was epic and totally unforgettable!
Pearl grinned. "Dad, we've been through so much. We even have a kid and got hitched again."
Helping each other out was just what couples did.
"Oscar, I'm warning you, don't pull any of your old tricks, or you'll regret it!" Evans glared at Oscar.
Oscar pulled Pearl close. "Relax, I'll treat Pearl better than ever!"
That was Oscar's promise, but it made RavenWing's heart ache.
It was a pretty normal and even sweet scene, but it made him feel all kinds of uncomfortable.
He knew that because of Evans and Kittie, Pearl had a good life and that's why they could meet again.
But he still couldn't keep his emotions in check.
At that moment, it felt like he swallowed a knife, and it hurt like hell.
After Oscar left with Pearl, RavenWing finally got the guts to walk up to Evans.
He handed Evans a bank card.
"There's ten million bucks on here. Thanks for taking care of Pearl all these years." RavenWing offered it with both hands, bowing his head. This was his sincere thanks.
From the first moment Evans saw him, he noticed the resemblance between him and Pearl.
Pearl inviting him to the wedding showed she had accepted this biological father.
RavenWing giving ten million bucks showed he was loaded.
But Evans pushed it away. "I took Pearl in because she was standing alone among so many kids, looking all sad. I brought her home because I genuinely wanted to raise her as my daughter. I even tried to find her real parents, but no luck. Over the years, Pearl has brought us so much joy. You should give it to Pearl."
"You should still take it. This is my way of saying thanks."
Besides money, RavenWing really had nothing else to offer.
In Willow Creek, money was the only way he could make up for it.
Evans stood his ground. "I really don't want this money. We all want the best for Pearl. Give it to her and work on fixing your relationship. You weren't there before, but she'll get it over time. Pearl's got a big heart."
Talking about Pearl always made Evans proud.
RavenWing agreed. Pearl had always been kind-hearted. She even protected strangers in the slave camp.
And with Christopher, not knowing he was her kid, she still kept him close.
Jeffery was also the best proof of that.
"Since you're in Willow Creek, stay and enjoy your time here," Evans said, seeing that RavenWing genuinely cared for Pearl.
They both wanted the best for Pearl, so they were naturally on the same team.
Plus, RavenWing was Pearl's real dad!
RavenWing nodded.
He planned to stick around for Christopher and Pearl.
The wedding wrapped up soon after.
In their room, Oscar held Pearl's hand, his other hand gently stroking her head. "I'm really sorry about what happened today."
"But the wedding was still unforgettable." Pearl couldn't help but laugh.
Mackenzie's appearance made sure everyone would remember this wedding and remember Pearl and Oscar.
"It's different. I wanted our love, sweetness, and happiness to be what people remembered."
Pearl didn't want to overthink it. She just knew she was with Oscar now.
She wrapped her arms around Oscar's neck and kissed him. She said hoarsely, "Oscar, I know you've been holding back for a long time. Love is mutual, and I don't deny my feelings right now. During the five years you were gone, I missed you a lot and wanted to find our son. Being alone is really lonely. While we're still young, let's have a few more kids!"
Pearl's words and her bold move stirred him, and in the end, he couldn't hold back.
Meanwhile, the one-month deal with Jimena had only half a month left.
Jimena had mostly recovered, though she still couldn't do anything too strenuous. She wanted to stay, and naturally, Louis would stay with her.
Not just because of the promise, but also because RavenWing and Pearl were here.
Louis hadn't seen Christopher in a long time.
He was now on the terrace, looking at the night view. The night view in Eldorians seemed to have brighter stars and moon than in Willow Creek.
Willow Creek was starting to enter autumn.
He stood on the terrace, the night wind blowing, carrying a hint of chill.
He was about to head back inside when, out of nowhere, a pair of hands wrapped around him from behind.
Feeling the softness and warmth, Louis immediately knew it was Jimena. He tried to pull her away, but Jimena hugged him even tighter.
