Chapter 507 Seven-Leaf Clover

Pearl held onto Christopher, staying close.

Later, she found a treatment list by RavenWing in the lab. The mention of a seven-leaf clover caught her eye.

She thought, 'The seven-leaf clover grows in deep, shady mountains, often guarded by venomous snakes. Most people wouldn't bother. RavenWing marked it, probably frustrated.' Pearl bit her lip, determined. 'If others won't go, I will.'

She'd risk her life to save Christopher.

With that resolve, Pearl set off immediately.

Oscar saw her heading towards the mountain and quickly caught up. "Where are you going?"

"To find the seven-leaf clover," she said bluntly. "I can go alone. Stay with Christopher."

"No, I'm coming with you," Oscar insisted. Pearl didn't want to argue, so she agreed.

The clover's habitat was harsh. It wasn't guaranteed to be found deeper in the mountain, let alone on the outskirts. Pearl didn't stop; she aimed for the deepest part.

After walking for a while, she felt a chilling atmosphere. There was no wind, but it felt like a cold breeze was seeping into her.

Oscar took off his jacket and draped it over her. "You should go back. I promise I'll bring you the clover."

"No, I'm not going back," Pearl said firmly. She never intended to let anyone else do this, not even Oscar. If there was danger, she couldn't let him face it alone.

The cold intensified, and thick fog covered the path, making it hard to see. Pearl looked up, hoping to use the sun for direction, but the fog obscured it.

Feeling uneasy, she marked a tree trunk with a stone.

They marked their way as they walked, staying back-to-back, ready for any wild beasts or snakes. Luckily, they encountered no trouble. As dusk approached, Pearl suggested finding a place to rest. Oscar lit a torch and found a small clearing nearby, suitable for a break.

The clearing was small but enough.

Pearl took out some dry food, handed a piece to Oscar, and started nibbling on her own.

"You're well-prepared, even bringing dry food. You've really changed," Oscar said, genuinely impressed. Over the years, Pearl seemed like a different person. Apart from her unchanged love, everything else had changed. She had become more exceptional.

A roar echoed from afar, and they stood up alertly. Oscar raised the torch to check around.

Suddenly, a snake's tongue appeared to Pearl's right, and she jumped aside in fright.

The venomous snake chased her. Pearl ran around a tree trunk, hoping to entangle it. After two circles, the snake got bored and continued chasing on the ground.

"Run forward quickly," Oscar shouted.

Oscar saw several pairs of eyes watching them through the torchlight and immediately warned Pearl to run.

Sure enough, a tiger leaped out from the bushes the next second, and they bolted in terror.

Pearl knew that once it got completely dark, they’d have no chance of escaping.

She stepped on a tree trunk, using the momentum to break off a branch. In a swift move, she turned and stabbed the branch into the snake's vital spot, causing it to fall to the ground. The tiger roared in anger, seemingly enraged by its companion's death.

"Climb up the cliff!" Oscar shouted, throwing the torch at the tiger.

The tiger didn't dodge. The torch hit its head, fell to the ground, and extinguished. A small flame rose on the tiger's head, making it freeze in panic.

Pearl rushed over, picked up the torch, and while the tiger was distracted by the flame, she used all her strength to stab it.

Oscar was stunned by her clean and lethal strike.

After five years, Pearl had become so strong.

"The flame is out; we need to find a place to settle down and start a fire."

Pearl recalled a cliff with a cave on their way. She decided to take a chance and spend the night there.

Meanwhile, on the Eldorians' side.

An Eldorian stumbled into the camp, breathlessly reporting, "The enemy is well-prepared. Our people can't hold on much longer."

"Bring me my arrows," Louis ordered in a deep voice.

Someone immediately handed him his bow and arrows.

"Send a few people to guard the lab, and the rest come with me."

Louis set off with his bow and arrows, but only five people could accompany him.

In previous battles, many were injured and hadn't recovered. The enemy likely anticipated this and launched a surprise attack.

They were certain the Eldorians had no one left.

Pearl and Oscar reached the cave, but the conditions inside were terrible. It was damp, and the ground was covered in weeds, with no place to set a foot.

The deep mountain night was colder than elsewhere. Pearl shivered, wrapped in her coat, as she paced at the cave entrance.

She knew the priority was to start a fire and block the cave entrance with stones to prevent wild animals from attacking. But she was so cold that she didn't want to move.

Seeing Oscar busy, she felt grateful. "I'm glad you came along with me; otherwise, I wouldn't know what to do now."

"You had to let me come. I'm your husband, right? A husband should protect his wife."

As he spoke, the fire started, and Oscar called her over, "Come here to warm up. I'll look for bigger stones."

Coincidentally, just as Pearl was about to sit down, the fire went out.

She jumped in fright and instinctively hid in Oscar's arms.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here." Oscar lit a lighter and noticed water dripping from above the fire.

"I hadn't noticed that," he chuckled helplessly and was about to move the firewood when Pearl stopped him.

"What's wrong?" Oscar was puzzled.

Pearl pointed to the cave ceiling and whispered, "It's snake venom. Let's attack from both sides and take it down in one go."

"Alright, once we're done, I'll roast the snake for you."

Oscar wasn't afraid and was impressed by Pearl's bravery.

They worked together seamlessly and killed the venomous snake.
