Chapter 559 Valentine's Day Surprise

They waltzed into the villa like they owned the place and helped Magdalen out.

At the hospital, Pearl saw Magdalen and, with tears streaming down her face, grabbed her hand tight.

Magdalen gave her a gentle pat and said, "I'm good, don't worry."

Pearl sighed, "We totally dropped the ball."

"It's not on you," Magdalen replied, then turned to Oscar. "Alfonso's wrecked the company. You gotta fix it fast and make sure no one takes advantage. And about Alfonso, don't hold back. Do what you gotta do."

Oscar nodded, knowing exactly what needed to be done. After all that went down, he was crystal clear on how to handle those folks.

While Magdalen was laid up in the hospital, the company got a major overhaul.

Things moved so fast that even though Alfonso paid someone to change their story and got out of the police station in no time, it was already game over.

All his cronies were booted out, and those clients? They were better off without 'em.

One of the clients Alfonso had bribed, Connor Woods, came to pick him up.

Connor was knee-deep in shady deals, and even if Alfonso hadn't bribed him, Oscar would've found a way to cut ties.

As they got into the car, Connor handed Alfonso a file, which had not just stuff about the Brown Group but also a schedule of Pearl picking up and dropping off Christopher.

Alfonso's face twisted in anger. "Are you nuts? Messing with Oscar's wife?"

"Mr. Brown, if you wanna bounce back, this is your shot. Or you cool with him walking all over you?"

Connor lowered his voice and continued, "I've got it all planned. The crew's ready. Just say the word, and we can nab him right away."

"No screw-ups?" Alfonso was tempted.

He didn't wanna blow this chance.

Without waiting for Connor's answer, he ordered, "Take him to the outskirts of Everpeak Mountain. I'll be waiting at the top."

Pearl watched Christopher head into school before hopping back into her car.

Oscar had been swamped dealing with the Brown Group's mess and hadn't slept in days. She figured she'd cook him a nice meal as a treat.

Just as she got to the market, two thugs snatched her handbag and bolted into a nearby alley. She chased after them.

She followed them to the end of the alley, which opened up into an abandoned basketball court.

There were over a dozen guys there, each holding a pipe.

A gang fight? Pearl decided to bail, but someone blocked her way.

"Since you're here, don't think about leaving. Come play with us," the guy sneered, reaching out to touch her face.

Pearl dodged and snapped, "Get your filthy hands off me."

The guy reached out again, and Pearl, with a shout, kicked him away.

That set everyone off. The leader yelled, "Take her alive."

Pearl realized the bag snatching was a setup to lure her here.

She kept her cool, taking down each person who came at her. In no time, she floored four of them, but more kept coming.

As she kicked another guy away, two men blindsided her from behind, knocking her out cold.

When she came to, she was tied up on a cliff, with Alfonso smirking nearby.

"It's you?" Pearl sneered. "Made sense, who else would have the guts to come after me?"

"Call Oscar and tell him to hand over the company and the Brown family's assets, or you're not leaving here alive," Alfonso said, gesturing behind her.

Pearl didn't even bother to look. "Oscar won't go for that. You're wasting your breath."

"If he doesn't agree, I'll kill you and then bring Christopher here. If he still doesn't agree, I'll just have to kill another person," Alfonso said, pulling out a knife and getting in her face, tapping her cheek with the blade.

"You better make him do what I say, or else..." The cold steel against her skin made Pearl squint.

Alfonso was so far gone for money, he was a lost cause. Keeping him around would just mean more trouble down the line.

Pearl thought for a moment and then chuckled, "Fine, I'll convince Oscar. But you gotta give me your phone so I can call him."

Feeling cocky with his goons and control of the exit, Alfonso agreed.

He ordered his men to untie Pearl and hand her a phone.

Once free, Pearl stretched her stiff wrists and pretended to call Oscar, "Oscar, I'm at Everpeak Mountain. Come quick..."

"You think you can trick me?" Alfonso lunged for the phone, and Pearl grabbed him and jumped off the cliff.

"Are you nuts?!" Alfonso's scream echoed as they fell. Connor's men rushed to the edge, but there was no sign of them.

Pearl was alive. She couldn't take on a bunch of guys, but Alfonso was a piece of cake.

After Alfonso's scream, she let him go, letting him plummet while she grabbed onto the cliff's rocks and climbed down.

When Oscar showed up, she was standing by Alfonso's body.

"It's over." Oscar hugged her, whispering reassurances, while signaling his men to handle the cops.

With surveillance footage of Alfonso kidnapping Pearl and Connor flipping to save his own skin, the police let Pearl go.

Valentine's Day rolled around, and it had been a while since they got back to Willow Creek. Oscar had been working like a madman, leaving early and coming home late.

On Valentine's Day, Pearl was hoping for a gift from Oscar, but he didn't seem to have anything planned.

He rushed out after breakfast, didn't show up for lunch, and was still MIA when Christopher got home from school.

Pearl sighed, thinking Oscar had totally spaced on Valentine's Day.

The doorbell rang, and it was Magdalen.

Magdalen looked serious. "Pearl, I might need your help. I hope it won't mess up your plans with Oscar."

"We don't have any plans today. What do you need? I'll help," Pearl said.

Magdalen hesitated. "Well, could you put this on and meet someone for me? Try to make him give up on me."

Pearl glanced at the gift bag in her hand, wanting to say no.

"If you don't help me, no one will. Don't worry, I'll explain everything to Oscar. And I'll take care of Christopher, so you don't have to stress." Magdalen handed her the gift bag and went inside to take Christopher to his room.

With no other choice, Pearl changed into the clothes and headed to the spot Magdalen had sent.
