Chapter 104 Get Out

Pearl usually appeared very aloof, indifferent to the world, and rarely got angry. Even if Seraphina crossed her boundaries, Pearl remained indifferent, never saying more than a word.

Because of this, Pearl was driven to a dead corner, allowing Seraphina to be so audacious now. Even Seraphina felt that Pearl had no status in the Brown family, not even comparable to her, which gave her enough confidence to think she could overpower Pearl.

But then Pearl suddenly erupted and hit her.

With Oscar in the ward, Seraphina was at a loss and couldn't argue with Pearl. Seraphina knew to show weakness; all she could manage was a meek, "I... didn't."

Of course, Pearl understood her tactics, putting on a show for others to see.

Pearl didn't want to give in anymore; in the end, it didn't matter much anyway. Others thought she was afraid, causing various troubles for her. "Just now, you weren't like this. You accused me of deliberately plotting against you. You think too highly of yourself. Go home and look in the mirror. See who you are. What do you have that's worth my scheming? Once you entered the Brown family, you acted like the master. At best, you're just a woman of unknown origin."

As she listened, Seraphina clenched her fists in anger. These words were humiliating her. Pearl insulted her pride.

Pearl's gaze was icy; she didn't take Seraphina seriously, but she also didn't like others showing off in front of her.

Tears streamed down Seraphina's face, feeling deeply wronged. Her voice trembled, "Pearl, I know I was wrong. I misunderstood you. Please don't hit me again!"

The door to the hospital room opened.

Oscar was furious, but upon seeing Seraphina crying with her face covered, he noticed the handprint on her face. And Pearl had laid hands on Seraphina.

Oscar's face turned cold; he knew Pearl had gone home. If she hadn't told Seraphina, Seraphina wouldn't have come to the hospital to cause trouble for him.

He was angry; Pearl didn't care about other women fawning over him. Perhaps Pearl was even hoping for it.

Initially, Pearl worked hard to find women for him without hinting of sadness. She was probably still thinking about how to matchmake. If Oscar took a liking to another woman, she could divorce him and be free.

"What are you two doing at the door?" Oscar asked, looking at them.

Seraphina looked at Oscar, knowing she was in the wrong. She immediately started to show weakness, choking out, "I misspoke earlier, offended Pearl unintentionally. I shouldn't have accused her of setting me up. I thought she wasn't telling the truth, deliberately making me do something that upset you..."

Seraphina shifted the blame to Pearl.

Oscar looked at Pearl, wanting to know one thing. "Did you ask her to bring the clothes over?"

Pearl looked at him with a suspicious gaze. "What do you think?"

Oscar said coldly, "Pearl, you don't even want to explain. You probably want to divorce me now."

This identity would only surface when necessary. When unnecessary, her title as a wife never existed.

"At this point, what other choice do we have?" Pearl's tone was flat as she picked up the things thrown on the ground and put them away.

She placed the bag with her clothes on the table.

"If you don't like it, then don't wear it. There's no need to get so angry," Pearl said.

Oscar's face remained cold. "Do you think it's that simple not to like it?"

Pearl also understood that she had someone else do what was assigned to her, and it was something he didn't like, so naturally, he would be unhappy.

"I brought it for you." Pearl took it out of the bag. "Is this the one?"

Initially, Oscar was unhappy, but seeing that she had brought it and not handed it to another woman, his expression softened a bit. However, he couldn't resist questioning, "Why did you still ask her to bring it over?"

Pearl looked at Seraphina. "Ask her if she insisted on coming over, not listening to my advice. I won't take this responsibility."

Oscar's gaze shifted to Seraphina.

Initially, Seraphina wanted to show weakness to gain Oscar's sympathy, but when she saw Oscar's look, she knew things had gotten worse. She carefully said, "I... I just wanted to care for you and look after you. I'm sorry. I was wrong, and I didn't understand clearly. I won't do it again next time, but I will definitely listen to advice next time."

Oscar's eyes were cold. "Get out."

It was the first time Oscar had treated Seraphina so coldly; he was nothing like the man who had chatted with her in the villa.

Back then, Oscar had pitied her, wanting to send her to college. She thought someone in this world finally pitied her, but it was just a fleeting moment. Seraphina looked at Pearl again; things had turned out this way because of her.

If it weren't for her, Oscar would still be the person who chatted with her and treated her well. Unable to accept Oscar's indifference, Seraphina wiped her tears and ran out.

On the way, she bumped into someone.

"Oops." Haley was in a hurry and got bumped into, quickly stepping back.

Seraphina was wearing high heels and accidentally twisted her foot, wincing in pain.

Still crying, she apologized to the person she bumped into. "I didn't mean to."

"Are you blind? Why are you running so fast?" the assistant scolded involuntarily, then hurried to help Haley. "Ms. Haley, are you okay?"

Seeing the young girl in front of her, looking soft and on the verge of tears, Haley took off her sunglasses. "It's okay, it's not a big deal."

"Did you twist your foot? Do you need to see a doctor?" Seraphina asked nervously.

"No need." Haley was still worried about Oscar but spoke kindly to Seraphina, "You don't have to take responsibility. Go about your business."

After saying that, the assistant assisted Haley as they walked away.

Watching Haley walk away, Seraphina felt a sense of familiarity but couldn't quite place it, then left the hospital.

A few minutes later, Haley reached Oscar's hospital room. Harold opened the door and saw Haley, a bit surprised. "Ms. Haley."

"How's Oscar?" Haley asked with concern.

"Mr. Oscar is fine, resting..." Harold hadn't finished speaking when Haley pushed past him.

Haley indeed saw Oscar lying on the hospital bed. Oscar's face was slightly pale and tired, and he looked thinner.

Feeling sorry for him, tears welled up in Haley's eyes, threatening to spill over. "Is Oscar okay? He doesn't look good at all. How serious are his injuries?"

Haley limped over to the bedside, her eyes filled with concern as she looked at him.

Oscar, unaware that Haley was coming, gazed at her intently. "What brings you here? Aren't you supposed to be filming?"

"I heard from Auntie that you got injured, so I rushed over out of worry." Haley scanned his body. "Where are you hurt? Let me take a look."

Oscar grabbed her hand and said indifferently, "It's on my back, nothing serious. You're filming; if it delays your schedule, you don't need to come see me!"
