Chapter 112 I Became Like Trash
The car Arthur was in suddenly exploded.
The flames spread across the sky, and the car burst open in an instant.
Pearl stood still, her fair face illuminated by the flames, her pupils wide open.
How could this happen?
How could the car explode?
Although she wasn't close to Arthur, he was still her uncle.
Even if someone died in front of her, Pearl would still be afraid!
Pearl's mind went blank, tears silently streaming down her face. Pearl stood there for a while, subconsciously stepping toward the explosion.
"Pearl!"
Oscar also watched the scene without coming back to his senses.
Oscar noticed Pearl's actions, considered her safety, grabbed her wrist with his big hand, and pulled her into his arms.
His eyes were serious as he said, "It's dangerous over there, don't go! Harold, go find someone to put out the fire!"
Pearl's eyes were red, and she tried to get past Oscar. Trying to keep her tone calm, she said, "It's okay, I'll just watch from afar; I won't be in danger."
Pearl just wanted to see if Arthur was really dead. She still couldn't believe that someone died in front of her.
They all used fire extinguishers to put out the fire.
Pearl stood far away, looking at the figure in the car. Arthur seemed motionless; just a moment ago, he was repenting to her.
Oscar's hands blocked her eyes, saying, "Don't look!"
Pearl asked, "Why did the car suddenly explode? Did someone plant a bomb? When you arrived, everything was fine. Why would someone want to kill him? Hand him over to the law. He should not be sentenced to death."
Oscar said, "Someone planted a bomb in the car; it was done at the scene just now. There's a third person involved on your side."
Oscar's words woke Pearl up.
A third person.
That woman!
She wanted to destroy the evidence, so she killed Arthur!
This person was so vicious.
Pearl's chest heaved, her emotions suddenly rising, "Someone wants to harm me, she wants to destroy the evidence..."
Pearl was too agitated; she suddenly felt short of breath and fell into Oscar's arms.
Oscar held her. "Pearl!"
He patted Pearl's cheek but found that she had fainted, so Oscar picked her up, saying, "Harold, take her to the hospital!"
People were at the scene putting out the fire. They also called the police, who soon arrived.
At the hospital, Oscar carried Pearl into the emergency room and called for a doctor.
Oscar noticed that Pearl had been fragile lately, thin and prone to fainting. He wondered if there was something wrong with her body.
He was also worried, so he called the best doctor to take a look.
The doctor said, "I will arrange a full-body check-up immediately, Mr. Brown. Please wait outside!"
Seeing that Oscar's arm was bleeding, the doctor added, "You should also take care of your wound!"
Oscar had rushed in, only concerned about Pearl, not even noticing his bleeding arm. His previous wound had reopened.
Oscar finally felt the pain, furrowing his brow slightly and covering the wound again.
Although tired and struggling, Pearl heard their conversation while in a dream.
They were going to examine her. She didn't want to be examined.
Her fingers moved slightly, her brows furrowed deeply. The matter of her pregnancy must not be known to Oscar!
Pearl suddenly opened her eyes and sat up. Her sudden awakening surprised everyone, and they all looked at her.
"Pearl." Oscar looked at her. "You're awake. I'll have the doctor check on you."
Pearl looked at everyone present, suppressed all her emotions, and calmly looked at Oscar. "I was just too tired. I accidentally fell asleep. There is no need for a special check-up."
Oscar frowned. "You clearly fainted earlier. It's safer to have a check-up."
Pearl tightened her clothes, looking at the blood on Oscar's hand. "I think you need the check-up more than I do."
Pearl quickly got out of bed and said, "I just have a small wound on my neck. Bandage it up for me! Doctor, check Oscar first."
Oscar stared at Pearl with narrowed eyes. He felt that something was off with her. Pearl was acting strangely. She seemed to be hiding something from him. She said she didn't want a check-up, but she secretly went to a private hospital.
What was she up to?
The doctor, seeing their disagreement, said, "Mr. Brown, I'll have someone bandage your wounds first."
Oscar didn't directly answer the doctor but asked Pearl, "If you don't want a check-up, why did you secretly go to a private hospital? Are you hiding something from me?"
His gaze turned cold, his tone tinged with indifference.
Pearl was nervous inside but maintained her composure on the surface, staring into his eyes. "I went to a private hospital for a private matter, but now I don't want a check-up because I'm not feeling unwell."
Oscar didn't quite understand. "You're not a public figure. Why do you need privacy?"
Pearl's mind raced, quickly finding a reason. " I was live-streamed at the company's entrance, causing a big stir, and I was cyberbullied. I'm very worried and cautious. You're just overthinking. What could I possibly hide from you? Besides, even if I stay in the hospital for a few days, you'll be too busy with work to know I'm even there."
At this, Oscar pursed his lips, his eyes on her. "Are you blaming me?"
"No, I'm stating facts." Pearl didn't avoid his gaze, saying, "Thank you for saving my life today; you've helped me a lot. I have no reason to blame you, and I'm very grateful to you."
Setting aside those emotions, Pearl really should be grateful to Oscar.
Pearl's words sounded awkward, which Oscar didn't like. He was her husband, and when she was in trouble, it was only natural for him to help.
But Pearl's words made him feel like a stranger.
Indeed, the divorce agreement had been handed over, and in Pearl's eyes, he had indeed become someone she was estranged from.
Oscar's tone became colder. "You handed the divorce agreement to Haley. Did you seriously ask her to give it to me?"
Even when he knew something was true, Oscar wanted to confirm it again. Sometimes, he didn't even know what he was expecting.
Pearl stiffened; she had indeed prepared the divorce agreement, but it shouldn't have been given out that day.
It should have been after their contract expired.
But Haley's provocation that day made her lose her composure. Knowing that Oscar and Haley were on the same page, it wasn't her style to just hand over the divorce agreement. So, she directly handed over the divorce agreement to counter Haley's provocation. But that was no longer important.
A few seconds later, Pearl looked up at Oscar and continued to maintain her composure. She said, "Yes, I happened to run into Haley that day, so I handed it over."
Pearl said it so casually. Oscar should have known long ago that Pearl no longer cared.
Oscar clenched his fists, his knuckles bulging with veins, and said coldly, "Pearl, from your tone and the way you handed it over so casually, I believe that in your eyes, I've become like trash."
