Chapter 522 You Dare to Plot Against Me?
Christopher wasn't much of a talker, especially around strangers.
When the other kids saw him staying quiet, they were like, "If you can't talk, why are you even here? You should be in a school for disabled kids!"
"Yeah, exactly!"
These kids were called over, and they were not happy about it.
Christopher didn't get in the usual way.
They thought they might get a new friend, but it turned out Christopher was mute.
Christopher gave them a cold look and said, "You owe me an apology!"
He didn't like to talk, but he wasn't mute.
Just as the kids were about to mock him, they saw Louis striding over.
"Mr. Mitchell!" they all said together.
Christopher looked at Louis. He didn't say anything, but his gaze softened.
Louis nodded and bent down a bit, placing his hand on Christopher's head. "Christopher, how you feeling?"
"Mr. Mitchell, it's not just that he doesn't like to talk. We tried to play with him, but he even pushed Mark!"
One of the boys pointed at Christopher.
The smile on Louis's face disappeared.
Louis quickly grabbed Christopher's hand and gave the kids a stern look. "I asked you to come over to play with him. How dare you lie to me at such a young age?"
Louis had total trust in Christopher.
When Pearl first kept Christopher by her side, she didn't know he was her kid.
There had to be something special about Christopher that caught Pearl's attention.
When Pearl had Christopher with her, he never asked for anything. During the time Christopher was with RavenWing in the lab, he was super well-behaved.
Even during his painful treatments, Christopher never made any demands of Pearl.
"Mr. Mitchell, we didn't lie." Louis's gaze suddenly darkened, and the kids were too scared to speak.
"Go write an apology letter, and don't come back," Louis scolded them harshly.
Even though they were kids, they needed to be disciplined strictly to learn their lesson.
Most importantly, he couldn't stand to see Christopher suffer any injustice.
"Understood, Mr. Mitchell," they all responded, not daring to say anything more.
Louis squatted in front of Christopher, gently holding his hand. "I'm sorry, Christopher. I wanted you to have a better experience, but I almost let you get hurt."
Louis felt really guilty. Luckily, Christopher wasn't hurt; otherwise, he wouldn't know how to explain it to Pearl.
Christopher shook his head.
"Did those kids really behave?"
Even though Christopher didn't like to talk, he had no intention of tattling. He nodded again.
Christopher tugged at Louis's shirt.
He had to look up to see Louis, his eyes full of light. He shook his head, and Louis immediately understood that Christopher didn't want him to punish the other kids.
Louis scooped Christopher up and said, "I know you're a good kid, but if they mess with you, they gotta face the music."
"I'll take you to get something tasty."
With that, Louis carried Christopher away.
Meanwhile, Pearl and Oscar's plane hit some snags, forcing them to land and get stuck at the airport, just as they had expected.
Charles had his people ready to whisk Pearl and Oscar away.
Everything was going according to plan.
From being forced off the plane to transferring at Serenea, they eventually came face-to-face with Charles.
Charles wanted to split them up, but Oscar held onto Pearl's hand like his life depended on it. In the end, they both ended up in front of Charles.
"Didn't you say you liked him? Now that you're together, are you just gonna ignore the poison in Oscar's body?" Charles said, hands behind his back, looking straight at Pearl.
He didn't like Pearl and wasn't about to hide it.
Pearl sneered. "You were the one who went after Oscar. Instead of making things right, you poisoned him. Only you could pull something like that!"
Oscar had been stable for a while, hanging around the lab and even getting in good with RavenWing. So, Pearl figured RavenWing must've cured him.
But in reality, Oscar had been toughing it out, never telling Pearl.
"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have poisoned him," Charles sneered back.
When Oscar was out there on his own, Charles went through a lot to find him, only to see Oscar in business.
Business and politics were two different worlds. At the time, he didn't think much of Oscar, but later found out Oscar had another side.
He always wanted to recruit Oscar, but Oscar never agreed. When Pearl got poisoned and had Christopher, he thought he could use that to sway Oscar into giving him Christopher, shaking Oscar's resolve. But Oscar stayed strong, sticking with the Tranquiloria forces.
Later, Oscar got shot in a conflict and fell into the Eldorians River. Charles went through a lot to fish him out.
For years, just when he was about to give up on Oscar, Oscar woke up, only to end up back with Pearl.
"I never thought of hurting my own son. Unlike you, as the President of Serenea, you're so harsh on your own son and grandson!"
Pearl shot back without hesitation. Charles instinctively glanced at Oscar and saw that Oscar was unfazed by Pearl's words.
Oscar's heart was totally with Pearl.
But his other two sons weren't as capable as Oscar. If he couldn't keep Oscar, he'd have no successor.
The foundation and status he had built couldn't be ruined by others.
Unexpectedly, his bodyguard hurriedly approached him and whispered in his ear, making Charles's face turn very grim.
"You dare to plot against me?"
The whole process of bringing Pearl and Oscar over had been recorded.
