Chapter 517 Can You Be a Little More Ambitious?
Louis had this idea of keeping Pearl in Eldorians. He thought, 'Even if Pearl does nothing for the rest of her life, she'll be well taken care of. And Christopher will make friends, grow up, get married, and have kids. He'll have better opportunities here.'
But Pearl wanted to go back to Willow Creek. She needed to explain to Louis first. "Father needs your support. I'm taking Christopher back to Willow Creek."
"Pearl, what are you saying?" Louis grabbed her shoulders, suddenly emotional.
Since finding out RavenWing was her biological father, Pearl had never acknowledged him. Now, calling him "father" meant she accepted him! Louis was thrilled, imagining how RavenWing would feel.
Pearl looked down, her face flushing. She remembered the bloody past but couldn't deny RavenWing's changes. Without him, Christopher's health wouldn't have improved, and she wouldn't have found a bone marrow match so quickly. He had been devoted to Christopher.
As Oscar had said, she instinctively rejected RavenWing; they hadn't been in contact for over a decade and had no emotional bond. But she couldn't deny he was her father. Her silence was an acknowledgment.
Louis was overjoyed. "I'll tell him right away. Pearl, we've never had a proper meal together. I'll have the chef prepare some Tranquiloria dishes right now!"
He instructed Giovanni, "Giovanni, tell the chef to prepare a lavish feast."
"No need to go overboard. I've been well taken care of and eating well," Pearl said, not wanting extravagance.
Louis was serious. "We must celebrate. But Pearl, now that you've called him father, when will you acknowledge me as your brother?"
Louis had helped her a lot. She took a deep breath and hoarsely said, "You are my brother."
It felt like something was stuck in her throat, but Louis heard it. He was as happy as a child, dancing with joy. "That's wonderful," he said, tears in his eyes.
Pearl hugged Louis. "Thank you for all your help over the years."
She had always remembered Louis's kindness. She didn't acknowledge him because she didn't want any contact with RavenWing, leaving him with no hope. But by doing so, she let Louis down. No matter what, Louis was always by her side.
"Why are you apologizing to me? It's Father and I who owe you. If it weren't for that cross bracelet on your hand back then..." Louis's voice choked up.
In fact, the person who truly deserved thanks was Pearl herself. If she hadn't given the bracelet to Jeffery, he wouldn't have given it back to her later. If she hadn't gotten the bracelet, Louis wouldn't have recognized her.
Haley would have kept pretending to be her, and who knows what would have happened.
"That's all in the past," Pearl said quietly.
Oscar had persuaded her, and she thought of Christopher. She wanted him to have a happy life with his family. She and Oscar hadn't been there for him, so now that they were reuniting, why leave Christopher with regrets?
Louis said, "No, we will always owe you. Pearl, I want to hold a recognition banquet for you."
Louis thought that although his close associates knew Pearl was family and he had instructed his subordinates to respect her, not everyone in Eldorians knew her identity. Incidents like Jimena's disrespect could still happen. So why not officially recognize Pearl?
This way, everyone in Eldorians would know her identity and wouldn't dare to offend or hurt her.
"No..." She hadn't finished speaking when Louis firmly interrupted, "Yes, it must be ceremonial."
Louis had made up his mind, and from his expression, it was clear there was no changing it. Pearl had no choice but to go along with him. However, the recognition banquet would have to wait until after Christopher's bone marrow transplant surgery.
Louis agreed, and when RavenWing learned that Pearl had acknowledged him as her father and agreed to the recognition banquet, he was overjoyed. Like a child, he cautiously sought Louis's opinion.
"How about I host the recognition banquet?"
He planned to make it exceptionally grand and luxurious. Most importantly, he wanted to personally lead Pearl to the center stage and introduce her to everyone in Eldorians. He wanted them all to know that Pearl was his daughter, his only and most precious daughter.
"Of course, but Pearl wants to wait until after Christopher's surgery. You need to do your best for Christopher."
"Alright," RavenWing agreed wholeheartedly.
When Pearl brought Christopher back, he realized that Christopher would be the turning point between him and Pearl. He never expected his thoughts to come true. His only daughter had acknowledged him as her father. It was wonderful, truly wonderful.
Christopher's surgery was scheduled for five days later. Even though Pearl trusted RavenWing's skills and knew the surgery wouldn't be a problem, she couldn't help but feel nervous. Her heart raced, her mind was in turmoil, and her breathing was heavy. It got so bad that she needed medication to calm down, but Oscar was with her the whole time.
"I was thinking of taking you into the operating room so you could see Christopher's successful surgery with your own eyes. But now it seems impossible. The surgery hasn't even started, and you're already this nervous. If you went into the operating room and saw the scene, wouldn't you be scared to tears?"
Oscar's tone was teasing, but he was genuinely worried about Pearl, and his words were full of affection for her. Pearl understood his intention; he wanted her to witness Christopher's surgery and his entire recovery process firsthand.
