Chapter 512 The Arrival of Serenea's Envoy
"Hurry up and bring them here," RavenWing said.
Even though he didn't like Serenea, Pearl and Oscar had feelings for each other and even had a child together. For Christopher's sake, he was willing to tolerate Serenea.
Of course, if Charles mistreated Pearl, he'd turn hostile in a heartbeat!
Meanwhile, Pearl led Christopher to the backyard garden.
It was past pollen season, and the flowers were carefully chosen, so she felt safe letting Christopher play there.
"Mom, these flowers are so beautiful. I've never seen them before," Christopher said.
He rarely went out, so he soaked in the fresh air, marveling at everything.
He thought, 'If only I could come out every day.'
He didn't want to stay in bed all the time but kept quiet about it.
Oscar and Pearl were trying to cure him, and he didn't want to seem ungrateful.
Oscar picked a flower and placed it in Christopher's hand. "If you like them, we can pick more and put them in your room when we get back."
Christopher nodded eagerly.
He then saw more beautiful flowers, each one delicate and vibrant.
A mother knows her child best. Without Christopher asking, Pearl had already picked several flowers for him. "We'll take these back and put them in a vase."
"Okay!" Christopher held the flowers like treasures.
Suddenly, a bird flew past them, so agile.
Christopher's eyes were full of envy. "Mom, look how fast that bird is flying."
Pearl's eyes welled up with tears.
The bird flew so fast, but Christopher could only sit in a wheelchair, unable to run or jump.
Oscar wiped away her tears and bent down to speak to Christopher. "Eat well and take care of yourself. Soon, you won't need the wheelchair, and we can take you to see the world."
As long as Christopher was healthy, he could go anywhere he wanted.
Christopher nodded eagerly.
He couldn't wait to live that kind of life.
Time flew by, and an hour passed in no time.
Pearl pushed Christopher back.
"Mom, can I come out again next time?" Christopher asked, reluctant to go back inside.
He really wanted to stay outside all day.
"Of course, I will bring you out often," Pearl said, ruffling his hair.
She wanted to fulfill his wishes, but Christopher's body had only just started to recover and couldn't handle too much wind.
When they returned to the lab, RavenWing was already waiting.
He told Oscar, "Serenea's diplomats have arrived."
"Where are they?" Oscar's heart sank.
This was a big deal, but Charles hadn't told him, which meant their purpose wasn't simple.
"I've settled them in. There will be a banquet tomorrow night to officially welcome them. You and Pearl must attend," RavenWing said, wanting to gauge Serenea's attitude.
Pearl nodded in agreement but said, "Louis is still unconscious. I don't know if he'll wake up by tomorrow night." She was quite worried about Louis.
RavenWing also hoped Louis would wake up. He comforted Pearl, "He definitely will."
Pearl sighed, hoping Louis would make it to the banquet.
Meanwhile, Jimena was watching over Louis. With Jeffery's meticulous care, Louis woke up quickly.
But the pain all over his body made it hard to even turn over.
He groaned instinctively.
Jimena jolted awake. Seeing Louis awake, she was ecstatic. "Mr. Mitchell, you're finally awake!"
Seeing Jimena, Louis remembered fighting alongside her before he fell unconscious.
He also recalled her heart-wrenching cries when he collapsed.
Seeing her red and tired eyes, he realized Jimena had been by his side all along.
He asked softly, "How is Pearl? Has my father cured Christopher?"
Louis endured the pain, wanting to get out of bed to find Pearl.
Jimena knew Louis cared deeply for Pearl. Pearl had been away from Eldorians for so many years, and now everyone was concerned about her feelings.
But he needed to take care of himself first.
"Mr. Mitchell, in your condition, you should stay in bed and rest. If there's good news, you'll be the first to know."
Jimena held Louis back, not wanting him to move around recklessly.
Louis remained silent, his lips pressed into a thin line.
He turned his head, his cold gaze falling on Jimena.
Jimena let go of him immediately.
She lowered her head, but Louis was injured. Getting up would only aggravate his wounds. He was shaky and couldn't stand straight.
As he was about to fall, Jimena quickly supported him. "Mr. Mitchell, don't be stubborn. If you want to see Ms. Mitchell, I can notify her."
"No need," Louis spoke faintly.
Christopher hadn't been cured. Calling Pearl over would only distract her.
Jimena was stunned for a moment but quickly responded, "Mr. Mitchell, whatever you say. But you just woke up. Are you hungry?"
Jimena was eager.
If Louis said he was hungry, she would immediately rush to the kitchen to make him something.
Louis wasn't a fool. He knew Jimena's feelings for him, including her previous actions against Pearl, were all because she cared about him.
Louis said softly, "Jimena, don't focus on me anymore. I don't like you."
He didn't love Jimena, so he wanted to nip her feelings in the bud.
Jimena had been full of joy and excitement, but hearing Louis's words felt like a knife to her heart.
She hadn't even confessed or pursued him, and her love was already over.
"I know you don't like me. But you can't stop me from pursuing you. Mr. Mitchell, I have the right to chase after you, don't I?" Jimena was still unwilling to give up.
She had liked Louis for many years. She had worked so hard to follow in his footsteps, wanting to get closer to him and stand by his side.
"You have the right to pursue me. But I don't like you and won't change my mind because of you. You should give up early. Jimena, there are many men better than me." Louis's voice was low and his eyes showed no tenderness.
Jimena's heart ached.
"Yes, that's true. But Mr. Mitchell, there's only one of you in this world. No matter how good others are, I just want you."
