Chapter 805 Can I Let You Go?

Saskia was in a really dark place, lost in a fog after Azalea's death. Every time she shut her eyes, she ended up dreaming about her.

Azalea had said she was in so much pain.

Saskia jolted awake in the middle of the night. Before she could even react, someone had already flipped on the light.

The room was instantly bathed in a warm, orange glow.

Saskia saw Nathaniel's tall figure standing over her.

Benjamin was in the hospital now. Saskia had wanted to go see him.

But Nathaniel had said, "You're not in a good state. Don't go. My mom and the professional team are there."

Saskia didn't go, mainly because she didn't want Benjamin to see her like this.

She stayed at Nathaniel's villa, not expecting her condition to get this bad.

"Do you need me to call Quincy over?" Nathaniel asked her gently.

Saskia was in a terrible state. Since the incident at the funeral, Nathaniel had been worried that she would keep blaming herself, and it would eventually turn into a mental illness.

"Call Quincy to counsel me?" Saskia laughed bitterly.

Quincy was a doctor, a jack-of-all-trades.

Most doctors could provide psychological counseling.

Saskia wasn't sick; she was just too sad.

Azalea had grown up with her.

Nathaniel handed Saskia a glass of water. "I'm not saying you're sick. I'm worried you're blaming yourself too much. Saskia, about Azalea, I..."

Nathaniel had approached Azalea as George to get back at Saskia.

He hadn't thought it through at the time.

Later, when Nathaniel got into trouble, Azalea gradually learned his true identity, which was unexpected. But after Azalea lost control and did those things, he had made it clear to her.

The child Azalea was carrying wasn't his, and he had given her a lot of financial compensation.

But Azalea had still gone her own way.

Saskia knew it wasn't Nathaniel's fault. Everyone had different perspectives and thoughts.

Azalea's death just deeply saddened Saskia.

If Azalea hadn't died, she could have found another man and started a new life. Even if she didn't, she could have lived happily on her own.

But now, it seemed there was no chance.

Saskia refused to engage with Nathaniel. She said, "Don't stay by my side anymore. Nathaniel, I've made it clear that I can't be with you. No matter what you do, you can't change my mind."

She meant it.

She had made up her mind.

When Saskia made a decision, it was unchangeable.

Just like when she took fifty million dollars and promised Jade she would never appear by Nathaniel's side again.

"Does it have to be this way? Saskia, we have a child. If I didn't know, it would be one thing. But now that I know, do you think I can let you go?" Nathaniel held Saskia's hand, almost trembling.

His voice was hoarse, as if something was stuck in his throat.

Saskia was also in pain.

She didn't want to be apart from Nathaniel, but Azalea's death had created an insurmountable chasm between them. How could she forget Azalea's death?Saskia shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "I can't forget any of it."

Azalea had been burned to a crisp. She shouldn't have had to endure that.

If she hadn't known Nathaniel, if she hadn't been with him, none of this would have happened.

Nathaniel grabbed her shoulders. "Saskia, some things aren't that simple. I heard your phone call with Azalea. Saskia, Azalea wanted you to live well. We need to look forward."

Nathaniel didn't think he was blameless, but they needed to move forward.

They had given Azalea a proper burial.

Nathaniel was right, but how could Saskia forget?

She shook her head. "Nathaniel, I can't forget. Whenever I think of Azalea, I think of how you deliberately approached her. I know it's not your fault, but I can't forget. Because it's all my responsibility."

"People can't come back to life. What about Benjamin? Saskia, do you want Benjamin to continue living in an incomplete family?" Nathaniel's words hit Saskia hard.

She hadn't forgotten Azalea's last phone call, telling her to be with Nathaniel.

Nathaniel was also persuading Saskia, and Benjamin was still in the hospital.

And Jade was no longer standing in their way.

Saskia took a deep breath. "I think Benjamin is fine with you. No matter our relationship, you're still his dad. And I'm still his mom. That will never change."

Saskia was right. She hadn't overcome her inner obstacles yet.

But that was okay.

Saskia needed time. With no one standing in their way, Nathaniel would help her heal, and they would live happily together as a family.

"Get some rest. If you don't want to see me, I'll leave. Saskia, don't blame yourself for everything. If there's a problem, it's mine. I approached Azalea and gave her the wrong impression." Nathaniel's voice was low and hoarse. He didn't want Saskia to blame herself.

But it wasn't Nathaniel's fault, either. Saskia bit her lip and said softly, "Let's not push the blame around. I need to see Benjamin first thing in the morning."

She was Benjamin's mother. She couldn't leave him alone in the hospital.

Nathaniel held her hand. "We'll go together tomorrow."

Nathaniel was Benjamin's father. If he wanted to go, Saskia couldn't say anything.

Jade had been taking good care of Benjamin. When he saw Saskia, he was so happy. "Mom!"

Jade instinctively gave them space.

She gave Nathaniel a look, and they left the room.

In the hallway, Jade said, "Talk to her. I'll apologize to her. For Benjamin's sake, and because she loves you, she'll be with you."

Jade had realized how well-behaved and sensible Benjamin was.

She regretted not accepting him earlier, faking the paternity test, and everything she had done. She felt she had been wrong, leading to the current situation.

Nathaniel nodded, saying nothing more.

Meanwhile, in a distant hospital room overseas.

A person, wrapped in bandages and unrecognizable, lay in bed.

She couldn't move; only her eyes were free to wander.
