Chapter 483 Should It Be Given to an Outsider?
Pearl was still at home when the company's shareholders started blowing up her phone, demanding she take action. Both the landline and Harold's phone were ringing nonstop. Different callers, same message.
"Mr. Brown transferred the property to you without our consent. Those agreements weren't notarized."
"You're not Mr. Brown's only heir!"
"If you don't come to the company, we'll have to go to Serenity Haven Estates."
Pearl smirked. "Business should be discussed at the company. What right do you have to come to my door?"
With that, Pearl signaled Harold and the servant to hang up the phones.
Pearl skipped breakfast. "Let's head to the Brown Group now. Harold, call Magdalen."
"Okay."
Harold didn't think twice.
Barbara instinctively stood behind Pearl.
And off they went.
Jeffery watched them closely. After they left, he stepped out of Serenity Haven Estates.
At the Brown Group, shareholders and executives were waiting for Pearl.
As soon as she walked in, they surrounded her.
"You've already divorced Mr. Brown. You can't inherit all his property. Besides, David already gave you some shares."
"We should resolve this properly. Don't force us to use other means."
"Pearl, everyone is being respectful because of me and the Brown family. But don't push it."
Hathaway pushed through the crowd, head held high, exuding arrogance.
Before Pearl could speak, Harold stepped forward with the original documents. "The property transfer happened during Mr. Brown and Ms. Harris's relationship. These are notarized and valid. Even if they're divorced, there's something called divorce property division and voluntary gifting under the law."
The documents were stamped and valid, but the shareholders and executives weren't swayed. It was clear they had colluded.
"Who knows if Pearl tricked Mr. Brown into signing this? Now that he's dead, there's no way to find out."
"Without the Brown family, there wouldn't be a Brown Group. It's impossible Mr. Brown would give everything to a woman he's divorced. Does Pearl have some extraordinary qualities? Or did she save his life?"
"Let's clear this up. There's a big problem with this transfer. Mr. Brown still has parents, yet he left them nothing. And Harold, as his assistant, what do you mean by this?"
"Are you colluding with Pearl?"
"We have every reason to believe Mr. Brown's death was caused by you two!"
Their eyes were narrow and accusing, with Hathaway looking particularly smug.
Harold didn't expect these people to turn on Oscar. But with Oscar gone, he had promised to help Pearl manage the Brown Group. Oscar cared deeply for Pearl, and if he were here, he wouldn't let her be mistreated.
Standing by Pearl, Harold knew he had to honor Oscar's wishes, protect Pearl, and clear his own name.
Harold's face darkened. "Before Mr. Brown passed, he transferred all his property to Ms. Harris. This is the transfer date. At that time, Ms. Harris was giving birth, but the child didn't survive. Ms. Harris has been by Mr. Brown's side for years. It's not unreasonable for her to receive this."
"Pearl, are you looking for me?" Before Pearl could respond, a surprised voice called out. Magdalen approached.
Pearl smiled and walked up to her. "Magdalen," she greeted, then turned to the crowd. "Since you're unhappy about the property transfer, I'll give it all to a Brown family member. If you have issues or think it's unfair, sort it out among yourselves."
Pearl's tone was calm, her expression serene.
"Pearl, what are you talking about?" Magdalen was incredulous. She thought Pearl needed help, but now Pearl was offering to transfer all the property Oscar had given her.
Oscar had the right to give his property to anyone, and Pearl had been by his side for years. She deserved it.
Hathaway's face soured. Magdalen and she were no longer in contact, and Alfonso wouldn't even speak to her. If all this property went to Magdalen, would Alfonso still support her?
Hathaway was unwilling. "Magdalen, you have your own property. Don't get involved in this." Her expression was stern and cold, especially when she looked at Pearl.
But Pearl was unfazed. She came back to settle these matters once and for all.
Magdalen understood Hathaway's intentions. She pulled Pearl behind her, a cold smile on her lips. "If I don't get involved, Pearl will be bullied to a point by you. This property was voluntarily given to Pearl by Oscar and is notarized. You have no right to interfere."
"If you're unwilling, why don't we go to court?" Magdalen protected Pearl and challenged Hathaway.
The property was given to Pearl, and no one else had the right to interfere. But Hathaway was using her status as Oscar's nominal mother to bully Pearl.
"Magdalen! Oscar is dead. If the Brown family's property isn't left to the Brown family, should it be given to an outsider?"
