Chapter 169 It's His Friend
Aurora's face turned stiff. "Mr. Brown, there was some misunderstandings between man and Pearl, and just now, I believe that at least seven out of ten people would think she did it on purpose."
"And, do you really not remember who I am?"
Aurora 's lack of control increased as she spoke
Oscar's gaze was cold. "I don't need you to remind me what kind of person my people are. Even if it were true, so what?"
Oscar's words directly shut Aurora up.
He didn't answer her question and his gaze made it clear that he had no impression of Aurora.
Aurora was both angry and ashamed.
Suddenly, Pearl's voice sounded in her ear. "Miss Johnson, I brought you the ice."
Pearl had a calm expression, completely unaffected.
Glancing at Oscar, his indifferent expression and cold, oppressive aura in his eyes made it clear that if Aurora didn't apologize to Pearl, today's cooperation was off.
And this cooperation was something Aurora had fought for a month to convince her father and Jasper to give to her.
Helplessly.
Aurora could only reluctantly say, "Pearl, I'm sorry about earlier. I didn't hold the coffee you handed me, and I took my temper out on you. I hope you can forgive me."
Aurora's change of expression was faster than flipping a book, even Pearl was taken aback.
Pearl noticed Oscar on the side.
Oscar's eyes were full of coldness and fierceness.
Clearly, it must be owed to Oscar.
Pearl could only force a smile. "Miss Johnson, we've already talked it out, there's no need to mind."
Pearl didn't want to stay in this atmosphere any longer, she added. "Miss Johnson, I'll leave the ice here. Call me if you need anything."
After Pearl left, Oscar coldly spoke, "Miss Johnson, when you're out, it's best not to throw tantrums."
Oscar still had no impression of Aurora, and his words were only protective of Pearl.
Aurora had to suppress her bad mood. "So, Mr. Brown, shall we continue with this cooperation?"
Oscar turned around: "If Miss Johnson wants to discuss cooperation with me, then Miss Johnson should show some sincerity."
Aurora came this time determined to finalize the project with Oscar, so she said kindly: "It was my fault that the proposal wasn't well-prepared. I'd like to offer a 20% discount on our Innovate Horizon Initiative. How do you think?"
Oscar didn't answer Aurora.
His tall figure still stood in front of Aurora.
This made Aurora feel aggrieved.
In the Johnson family, she was Miss Johnson.
Even in the Johnson Group, employees would respectfully bow and greet her.
But coming to Willow Creek, not only did she have to bow to a secretary, but she also had to lower herself in front of Oscar, offering a 20% discount.
And Oscar didn't even give her a reply!
Aurora had never been treated like this before!
Just as Aurora was about to lose control, Oscar finally sneered. "Miss Johnson, you came all the way to Willow Creek. Wouldn't it be a loss if you offer a 20% discount. ?"
Aurora felt very uncomfortable inside.
The Innovate Horizon Initiative was a major project, and Aurora had deliberately crafted the proposal to make Oscar think it was unreasonable, but it was Pearl who pointed it out.
Now, having to give up 20% of the profit, Aurora was indeed suffering a great loss, especially since she was already under criticism.
Oscar's question hurt Aurora's feelings further.
However, Aurora couldn't say anything now.
She could only keep smiling. "Mr. Brown, we need to look at the long-term. Giving up 20% of the profit means I earn a little less, but I can secure you as a major client. Mr. Brown, my bottom line is 20%, I can't go any lower."
"Alright."
Oscar agreed readily.
But!
Aurora planted a seed of hatred in her heart: "Mr. Brown, since we've agreed, I'm hosting a banquet at Emerald Peak Estate tomorrow night. I hope you can attend."
"Alright."
At this point, he couldn't refuse, so Oscar agreed.
Aurora nodded to Oscar. "Mr. Brown, I'll take my leave now."
"Pearl, send them out."
Oscar called for Pearl.
Although Aurora was extremely unwilling, she didn't say anything.
Once Oscar was out of earshot, Aurora made her intentions clear to Pearl. "I apologized to you today only because of Mr. Brown's status."
Aurora would avenge the humiliation she suffered today!
Pearl couldn't help but smirk. "Miss Johnson, we've already made things clear earlier. There's no need to bring up the past. Being too concerned will only add to your troubles. After all, I'll be by Mr. Brown's side every day."
Pearl's smile carried a hint of indifference.
If Aurora wanted to make things difficult for Pearl, Pearl certainly wouldn't be happy about it.
Aurora wanted to please Oscar, but Pearl also wanted Aurora to know that as long as Pearl was Oscar's secretary, Oscar would back her up.
Aurora shouldn't think about scheming against Pearl in front of Oscar.
Aurora, holding back her anger, smiled coldly. "Is that so? Pearl, let's see how long you can stay beside him."
After saying this, Aurora turned and left without looking back.
Pearl naturally didn't watch Aurora's departure.
She took the elevator back to the CEO's office.
"Come in."
Pearl had just stepped out of the elevator and hadn't reached her desk when Oscar's voice came from the CEO's office.
Then, Pearl walked into the CEO's office in her flat shoes.
Oscar was already sitting in his office chair, holding a burning cigarette in his right hand.
Oscar squinted his eyes, his long gaze falling on Pearl. "Today you brought me an extra 20% profit. Should I thank you properly?"
Pearl remained calm. "Mr. Brown, if you mean it, then do it in a way I like."
Pearl didn't need to say what she wanted; Oscar knew.
Oscar's lips curled into a cold sneer.
Pearl really couldn't let it go.
"Will you feel uneasy if you don't say it out loud?"
Facing Oscar's indifference, Pearl said lightly, "Alright, then at least don't have your friends act in front of me. That much you can manage, right?"
When Nathaniel took over Pearl's case, she was secretly pleased.
But the more Pearl thought about it, the stranger it seemed.
Pearl investigated and found out that Nathaniel was Oscar's friend!
"I can't become the laughingstock of the whole city." Oscar's voice was cold.
As he spoke, Oscar seemed deep in thought, his face somewhat obscured by the smoke.
At this moment, Pearl gave up.
No lawyer in the city would take Pearl's case. She had no one else to relay on.
