Chapter 620 Unfair Means
Hunter snorted, "Spit it out already. Don't waste our time."
A young guy nearby sneered, "Is she trying to squeeze more money out of us now? I heard Janetta lost a ton on some art show."
As soon as he said that, the other guests started whispering, shooting Janetta some shady looks. Some even quietly suggested being careful about working with the Doe Family in the future.
The Doe Family had invited a bunch of business partners today to strengthen relationships, but it was turning into a joke.
Hunter shot a sharp glance at the young guy and then looked at Savannah, reminding her, "Think carefully. Today isn't just Janetta and Henry's wedding day; it's a big deal for our families. If things go well, the Does and Clarks will be tight. But if things go south and our reputation takes a hit, don't blame me for being ruthless."
This was exactly what Savannah wanted. She lowered her head and smiled, about to say something when Damian pulled her aside.
Damian apologized to Hunter, "I'm sorry. Please don't take it to heart. Let's keep the wedding going."
"Come on, Mr. Clark, what's the deal? Didn't you two talk this over?" The young guy gave a suggestive look at Janetta on the stage and suddenly realized, "Oh, I get it. I've heard you are super protective of Janetta. Maybe your over-the-top concern is making Mrs. Clark unhappy?"
Hearing this, Damian's face turned stern, and he looked at Hunter, saying, "Mr. Doe, no matter what, we're about to become in-laws. It's not cool for the Does to talk about Janetta like this. After all, once Janetta marries Henry, she'll be the hostess."
Hunter's face soured.
Damian continued with a cold smile, "Daring to slander Janetta in such a setting, should I take it as a sign of disrespect towards Henry?"
The young guy turned red and cursed, "Damian, stop stirring up trouble."
"Enough, everyone sit down." Hunter got angry, glared at the young guy, and then turned to Damian. "He's immature, Mr. Clark. Please don't take it to heart. Let's keep the wedding going."
Savannah got anxious and shouted, "I'm not interrupting the wedding to ask for more money. I just think this marriage isn't worth it for the Doe Family. Yes, I'm from the Clark Family, but in the face of justice, I should stand on the side of justice."
Damian glared at her, but Savannah ignored him and looked at Hunter, "Mr. Doe, may I go on stage?"
Hunter nodded slightly, looking very impatient.
Savannah nodded, took a USB drive, and walked onto the stage, saying, "Everyone, I won't say much. Let's just watch the video."
After saying this, Savannah gave Janetta a meaningful look, and then the video of Janetta and Damian's kissing started playing.
As the video played, the crowd erupted into chaos, with everyone talking at once.
Janetta shouted, "Stop it!"
"Savannah, are you trying to cause trouble?" Damian spoke at the same time.
"I just said she wanted more money, but I didn't expect the Clarks to be so open. Mr. Clark, you are truly a role model for men." The young guy gave Damian a sinister smile.
Damian tried to rush onto the stage but was held back, shouting, "Oscar, why are you holding me back?"
Oscar snorted and punched him.
"Oscar, why did you hit me? Stop this from escalating." Even though Damian never wanted Janetta to marry Henry, he didn't want it to be for this reason.
Oscar grabbed Damian by the collar and gritted his teeth. "You are such a good brother."
After saying this, he punched him again, and still not satisfied, he stomped on him hard.
If Savannah hadn't come down to pull Oscar away, Damian would have been beaten even more.
Oscar shook off Savannah and sneered, "Mrs. Clark, are you satisfied now? I can't wait to see how the Clark Family handles this."
Suddenly, someone screamed, "Janetta fainted."
A figure flashed past Oscar, and he immediately frowned, temporarily letting Savannah go and running towards the stage.
The figure was Pearl. Despite being pregnant and moving with difficulty, she quickly reached Janetta and tried to lift her up.
"Let me do it." Oscar arrived in time, picked up Janetta, and said to the completely stunned Henry, "Settle the guests first. We'll talk about everything else later."
"Mr. Brown, I love Janetta. I don't care about what happened before the wedding. Please make sure to tell her that." Henry noticed the date on the video was from the night before, but even so, he chose to accept Janetta.
He knew Janetta had no romantic feelings for Damian, and this might all be a setup.
Thinking this, Henry looked at Savannah in the audience, a hint of malice rising in his eyes. She dared to ruin his happiness, and she would face the consequences.
The wedding scene was chaotic, but Henry knew he couldn't panic. He took the microphone and said to everyone, "I will hold the Clark Family accountable for this. As for the wedding, I can only apologize to everyone. I will have the gifts sent to your homes later. For now, please go home. I'm sorry."
Despite being betrayed, Henry remained calm, so everyone felt sorry for him and didn't give him a hard time.
Several bigwigs who were close to the Doe Family went over to comfort Hunter a few words and then left one after another.
At the Doe Mansion, Henry knelt in front of Hunter, keeping his head down the entire time. Next to Hunter were Henry's parents and relatives, all looking at Henry with helpless expressions.
After a long time, Henry's mother Patricia Moore broke the silence, gently advising, "Henry, there are so many women in the world. Why are you fixated on Janetta? If this hadn't happened, we would have accepted it. But with this kind of incident, how can we not be concerned?"
After that, Henry's aunt also advised, "Yes, Henry, this is disgraceful. Letting her marry into the our family would be awkward for everyone. And think about your grandfather. At his age, how could he stand people talking behind his back like that??"
Henry looked up, his eyes filled with tears, and said to Patricia, "Mom, it's not her fault. She is a victim too. Believe me. Otherwise, why didn't Savannah say anything before the wedding and only brought it up during the ceremony?"
"Enough!" Hunter was furious. "Take him back to his room. He is not allowed to go anywhere without my permission."
